I love this interview so much. And this record. I feel like Alex was so close to her authentic writing self when doing the Share Your Story album, but only felt safe doing that for others. ...maybe still scared to tell her own stories in the same way. The Songbird cracked me open, and to then follow it with songs like May it Change You, Aurora, and Anymore.... wow wow wow. I work with complex childhood trauma survivors (as one myself) and the number of folks who relate to her music, and have found healing in it after I've led them that way, has been just as touching from this side of the speakers.
