I am very happy to announce that I'll be filling in for OBSCURA on the 2015 Summer Slaughter tour this July/August!
Looking forward to getting on tour and sharing the stage with these guys; I've followed their work & been a fan since I was a teenager, so it's a privilege to be filling in & joining them on the road! Especially stoked to hang out with all the good buddies in the other bands - the bill for Slaughter this year is packed with some great bands/guys, so make sure to come out to a show and hang! Mixing was done by Adam 'Nolly' Getgood who can also be seen chillin' in the back left angle of this video. Nolly came and stayed at my house for a few days and we nerd-ed out and did fun recording stuff. Good times (and good drum tones) were had!
This video also features one of my new snare drums. Tama 13"x7" G-Maple. Sounds dapper!

Haha, cool!! Well done. And extremely accurate as well. It must have been a lot of work to map out and memorize all the stuff that I actually had improvised (besides the quintuplet intro fill - that's the only part I wrote out). If you wanna be super-German, keep playing the straight 16ths on the hihat while you do 16th triplets with your feet during the skank beat ;-) But definitely not a must.

Johannes Großmann Dude, thank you!!! Seriously means a lot to me that you even checked it out & that you dig it. You've been a big inspiration to me for the extreme metal stuff over the years man, it's a privilege filling in for you (well, your ex-band) & learning your parts. It's also immensely challenging. Hahaha. Some of the newer songs are TOUGH! But yeah, when I'm doing session work I tryyyyy to do a very "note-for-note" approach, at least until I get more comfortable with the songs & jam with the band. I want to do the songs justice first before I add my own things to it (if that makes any sense). There will be a few things that I change up live of course. Tried doing the 16ths over the triplet during the skank beat but felt like it was very difficult to lock in the triplets that way. So I opted to break it up a bit. I suppose I'm just not German enough ;) Haha. Anyway, thanks for checkin' it out!

Johannes Großmann About that last part, Was it a reference to Jurgen Reil Ventor from kreator who's german and mostly only plays his 200/240 bpm triplets this way cranking up the 16th note on the ride/hi hat ?

Justyn Fogarty Alex is doing 30 minute sets with Obscura, so he still has enough time at this point to nail the songs for the Summer Slaughter tour. He reminds me of Charlie Zeleny in terms of picking music up very quickly. Z nailed the songs for the first Blotted Science album in barely a week before recording!

Probably one of my favorite if not my favorite snare/kit sounds you've achieved in your videos. That maple snare really cracks doesn't it!? And coated heads sounds hella nice on that kit. Overall fantastic playing, tuning, and engineering on this video. One of my favorites that you've released thus far. Im always looking forward to new videos of you playing. I also cant wait to see and hear some new Ordinance!!!! Whenever that might be. Cheers!!!

Its ridiculous seeing you fill in/play for all these bands, especially ones that you sort of grew up listening to. That freaking blows my mind. You're living the life man, must be a dream come true. I remember watching ordinance play-through videos when you still had long hair and now you're literally playing in and touring with all of my favorite bands. I envy your bad-assery. I hope to one day be on that level and reach the inner circle (; Kick ass video!

Aqib Ahsan Look up Travis Orbin, he tutored Alex for a short period as far as I recall, he's got a very good way of looking at how to approach drumming in an effective and efficient manner.
