I can truly say that Alexander O'Neal would be one of the first of Soul/R&B Artists that opened up my ears to a wider range of the genres. His 2nd Albun Hearsay I remember owning on cassette and would play this along with maybe 2 or 3 other cassettes back in 1987. Miss the Days of old growing up I. The San Francisco East Bay Area in the 80's and early 90's.

Alexander O'Neal has been part of my musical playlist for 40 plus years. I'm even more grateful that my daughter appreciates this music for our own playlist. Thank you so very much For taking the time out to appreciate these great R&B classics that still have meaning in true romance and sound.

I bought the "Hearsay" CD in '87, and I remember listening to the whole thing. When I got to "Sunshine," it stopped me in my tracks. I would put the song on repeat daily for the first week. It has a richness beyond belief. The killer writers Jam & Lewis did it again!!

Alexander O Neal is a very good singer with a lot of experience and feeling for singing. I have always listened to his recordings with great pleasure, although the recordings had a lot of reverb sound effect, but they are beautiful songs. Greetings from Heidelberg / Germany

This is another one of my favorite songs... but I am about to mess you up... Alexander O Neal had "Sunshine" but New Edition flipped it to "Can you Stand the Rain". Same beat, flipped. At 7:27 mins in he says "You know sunshine, turns to rain." You can literally start "Can You Stand the Rain" right after that phrase.

I can tell a Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewissong now. From Janet Jackson, Force MD's, Human League. amd New Edition, they have that instrumental sound that is soothing and can be played in the rain to mellow out. Like floating above the clouds. I can't put my finger on the instrument...like running your fingers across a harp or windchimes. It sounds dreamy and echo like.

It's the chord progressions...you can go from "Can You Stand the Rain" to "Tender Love" to "Human" without shifting your hands. This one is a little different chord-wise, a little closer to some of their work for the S.O.S. Band (i.e. "No One's Gonna Love You", "Weekend Girl", "Just Be Good to Me", "Even When You Sleep"), but it's there. Once you hear it, it's easy to pick up.

Love his music!...Check the other songs from that album: "The Lovers", "A Broken Heart Can Mend", "What's Missing", "Hearsay", "Fake", "What Can I Say To Make You Love Me", and "Criticize".... He also has house mixes of his songs....("Criticize" is fire!)...Album name is "All Mixed Up" (1988)... His Christmas album ("My Gift To You") is nice as well....

Dam I don't know if I like the song as much as seeing you vibe to it and tear up .. your beautiful lil lady and you clearly have a soul. I love the riffs Mr. Alex does towards the end .. makes me start the song over again.
