Mick himself gave some insight on how he went about the soundtrack(s) for Doom. He did a presentation at GDC 2016 talking about the soundtrack to Doom 2016 where he said "Doom fans aren't like Disney fans. If Doom fans don't like what you've done, they'll burn your house down.", and that kinda shows in the tracks.

Meathook was the first song I heard from the game, because of watching game play preview of the game (first came across the slayer gates, someone tried nightmare difficulty). I LOVED the atmosphere the song gave, especially that choir/synth in the background, gave such a haunting, chaotic, and slightly hopeless vibe to the area, cus ur surrounded by HORDES of demons and one misstep and ur toast. Just loved it

Mick Gordon should get some kind of medal for these tracks. In game, the track shifts to match what you are doing, which is even more immersive. You can hear the different parts that all follow the songs feel, its really amazing work.

Btw, Mick Gordon have lyrics in few of his soundtracks. Those are simple lyric, which are "RIP AND TEAR" or "KAR EN TUK" which is also RIP AND TEAR just on language that mick and devs made up to sound like aincient alien language.
