Watched the video on shingling the shed.....Improper nail placement, aligned rainslots, tar on the roof deck, no CAULK on the nail heads on the cap. This is why people end up doing things wrong watching too many hacks like this on KZfaq. 🤣 your nails should always penetrate the sheathing. This video should be called how to not do a roof. Oh and the best one.....lining up the shingles on the nailing line and nailing in the opposing side of the sealing strip 👍🏼

I just built my mom one like this then saw the video. Mine looks like something out of a Tim Burton film. 😖

Thanks Alex. I am gonna attempt to construct a 20x20x9 shed on a concrete slab. My question, does a ridge beam have to be one solid piece (2×6×20) from front to back? Or can you use two pieces(2=2×6×10)?

Hi, Alex first all great video, please need to know why to build your ridge board 16inch your pitch is 3/12 and run 4 feet that mean you should have your pick ridge board on 12 inches and that according to (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o8ionMRivZOnfYE.html) thank for more explanation.

Hi Jihad Dib! Excellent question and one that I truly regret not placing in the video! One other asked me a similar question as well... so yes the 3/12 pitch would make 12 inches... however that is if there were no bird mouths. When making a bird mouth roughly inch and a half to 2 inches... your rise raises... so in order to figure that part out once you make your bird mouth... you add from the peak of the bird mouth to the top on the 2x6... which in my case was 4 inches... so my rise had to be 12 inches plus 4 inches to get the 16 inch rise.... I hope this helps... I need to make another video with a mock up example ...

thank you as I understand it's depending on your bird month length you had to add it to your raise pitch, your span here is 2x4 so bird mouse is 3 and a half inch if you span is 2x6 you had to add 5 and a half inch to your pitch????
