This is a trip report on the Alfa Pendular high-speed train in Portugal. These trains run between the biggest cities of the country. This video is about the train that runs between Faro & Porto on the section Faro - Lisbon.

Hi! I enjoyed your review very much! I would like to say that there is extra service in 1st class, you’ll be given a choice of magazines and newspapers and free headphones. Furthermore the food selection on the Alfa services is bigger as there are also meals served such as breakfast, lunch and dinner, these are served at the bar for 2nd class passengers and served at your seat in 1st class

2nd class also gets free headphones but they must be picked up at the bar.

I loved the report although I wonder why did you show footage from Lisbon to Faro and not the other way, since you said in the beginning, this was a trip starting in Faro and ending in Lisbon. :)

thank you, this was a nice report. Do you know that there was an accident few days ago with this train, fortunately no victims in the train, but two workers in other small cabin were killed. This was he firts accident in 22 years of Alfa Pendular.

Really how sad to hear about the accident! But let's put things in perspective, it is still one of the safest way of transportation. Statisticly probably safer than taking an aeroplane.

Was not a fault from Alfa Pendular, unfortunately an infrastructure maintenance vehicle was not equipped with the automatic stop system CONVEL (controlo de velocidade/Speed Control)system ignored a signal to stop and was in the same track of Alfa Pendular, fortunately nobody died but the train was scrapped.

I wonder if it would be recomendable (price/time + SCENERY) to travel from Faro to Porto with train or with Bus?

I think the train is absolutely worth it in time and speed. For the scenery, I honestly can't tell you. From the train it's nice however it's absolutely not the most sceinic rout I took by train.

Still 2+2 configuration. Seems the broad gauge doesn't do much.

No, that doesnt makes a difference. These trains are by the way the same trains as the SuperCity in Czech and some Freccia trains in Italy but just with other wheels. The regular intercity trains in Portugal are pretty mucg the same as the French corail trains.

@@loltra8289 I found out later. I will make a trip report on French coral trains when possible by the way. I love to do a video on the route from Belgium to Paris via Maubege. This international corridor isn't that known but it's a really nice connection. I guess Maubege - Paris will be on a coral train (I hope it will be on a coral train)

@@loltra8289 Some of them are locally designed Sorefame coaches as well (the shorter ones with flat roofs are Sorefame, the taller ones with round roofs are Corail).

Very nice vid! But, please, please - do something with your dutch accent ! These are, of course, "very" and "luggage" ! (Instead of "fery" and "lagitz"! ))).
