I can never forget the first time I heard this on a radio in the 70s. It was max volume in seconds and that voice........ God it killed me. Bought the album a week later.

i was in highschool in 72 and people wanted more rock and roll, which i love, but al green was my secrete weapon when i was with a young lady. he could just set the mood for a romantic nite. forever my soul and heart

His little whimpers and volcanic shouts and flat out testifying make him a classic. Sometimes he would hold a note and then waver it in such a way that was so soulfully assured and yet desperate at the same time. A real superstar vocalist forever...

My daughter showed me that my PC tracked how many times each song was played. That feature was there for a decade or more before she showed it to me. To my surprise this was the tune I played most over those 10 years.......and by a large margin I knew it was special but didn't realize how much.
