Agree that playing solo means every character is basically a player, but if so, that also means you should be drawing motion tracker cards for all of them - it’s the number of motion tracker cards you draw each turn that really ratchets up the difficulty.

This reminds me of the old - and awesome - Aliens boardgame by Leading Edge, which had a number of fun extra rules. One of them was the Let's Eat Burke scenario, which was basically his death scene in the film when he runs into an Alien as he opens a door. The game allowed you to lock Burke in a two-tile room with an Alien. The door was locked behind him and he could not move out of the room. When the Alien moved and attacked Burke, the best possible outcome he could hope for would be to stun the Alien, which would cause it to drop him. But he could never kill the Alien or flee. So the Alien would just keep moving into his space until inevitably Burke would roll anything between being captured or outright killed. As if that wasn't enough, there was also the Petty Revenge scenario for players who were tired of losing. In this scenario, the game would end after only the first campaign mission. The game assumes that cooler heads prevail after the initial ambush and everyone evacuates back to the Sulaco, heeding Ripley's advice to nuke the site from orbit. The player rolls a D10 to determine the number of nukes fired at the colony. As the manual states: "Regardless of the number, you win".

I’m pretty sure you get a lot of rules wrong, but these videos are pretty entertaining so i watch them 😂 btw, whats other peoples opinions on fudging some rules? Such as allowing flamethrowers to be used in defensive fire, or starting bug hunts with a full load out?

The aim number on a weapon isn’t a ceiling, it’s a floor - i.e., if your aim is higher, you use your aim; if your aim is lower, you use the weapon aim number (though you still lower your aim dial each time you fire). I think it’s meant to reflect that certain weapons (e.g., flamethrower, sidearm, shotgun) don’t require as much skill to use at close range.

I initially resisted the compulsive urge to buy this game, sitting there in my "Sulaco" t-shirt, telling myself that it was a purchase too far. Then I looked at the price, my wife told me that I was being an idiot and to buy it and she would give it to me on my birthday. THANKS GMG! I let out a small "Hooray!" when Burke died in this video. I could never believe a word that Paul Reisser said on screen in anything after Aliens. Movies, sitcoms, awards ceremonies... nope. "Mad About You"?! RUN HELEN, RUUUUN!
