Hi, thank you for the great review! I decided to purchase my M16 after watching your videos, and I am pretty satisfied with the build quality and performance. The keyboard simply outperforms my previous thinkpads. In Germany it is shipped with the 330w "small form factor" adapter by default, which is imo still a big brick... And here comes the "but", and I would like to ask for your input. My machine has the same spec as in your video (i7+4060), and it is nearly silent in "balanced" or "performance" mode when the system is idle (no games, no softwares, only windows). However when I turn AWCC to "quiet" or "battery" mode, the fan speed turns to 50-70% immediately, and it takes several minutes to stablize to around 20%. For my daily activity (coding, watching videos) I would like to use quiet mode, which should be less power consuming, and it feels to me that the 2k€ machine is not functioning properly if I cannot use the "true quiet mode". My question is, what is your experience with the quiet mode? Does your laptop turn loud? I have also asked another guy who owns an M16 with higher specs and his machine has no issue with the "quiet mode". I have also asked for dell support, shortly after a nice technician has called me and tries to fix the issue via remote desktop, but after some attemps the issue still exists. We are still working on this issue, and I hope that this could be fixed.

Alienware m16 vs Legion Pro 7i Intel Gen 8 i9, 4080, 32GB, 1 TB, 240 Hz, RGB backlit (per-key) Which one do you think that I should go for? These choices have been driving me crazy for weeks! I don't mind paying the price difference but I will miss the numpad on the side. Splurging so much makes me feel like maybe I should go for a more premium feel with the Alienware. I am not big on the LED thing but it would be nice to have a per-key instead of it just being in zones. I will not be gaming all the time but I do intend to game as well as use it for my engineering classes and I would like something that will have the best performance. Another thing I was hoping for is minimal issues, both out of the box and in the long run.

I completely agree with you. Some details are a little problem. Now that I already invested in a m16, it is ok, i'll go ahead. But I can't indicate that it was a good investment. Despite of this, I never found a notebook like my m16. So, thank you for your review!

Can you confirm Vapor Chamber is available in 4060 and 4070 as well for M16? In Lenovo Legion Pro 7 it’s only available in 4080 and 4090 models.

Have to agree with you on AWCC right now Dave, it's a mess. The auto profile thing is SUPER irritating, I actually went back to 5.0 on mine because it was driving me insane. Have to agree on the extra SSD slots as well, no reason to not include those other then to get people to spend more on the higher configs. It's a real shame they didn't get that 240hz screen on the M18 :(

Naturally, I've seen this video a few times because I ended up getting this laptop. The one major gripe I had with it when using it was the touch pad. I really missed how the MacBook pro glides when scrolling. Windows 10 had a setting to make the scrolling more fluid. Windows 11 took it out. One must go into the Registry Editor and enter 0 (from the default 38) on the "friction" setting. What a huge difference. Now I'm a happy camper with scrolling. Thank you very much for reviewing this Sir. I very much enjoy your video's. If I'm being honest, I ended up buying the ram and PCIe cards you upgraded your laptop (similar model) with.

Great Review. Question about the Ram upgrade. You said in the review you can put faster Ram into this model and that you did that on the m18. The m18 model you used had the i9 CPU however. Gosh, I played Runescape on a laptop for about 6000 hours which is almost a years time on an oldschool laptop without a graphics card. This would break my mind with the new skill coming out sometime this year. Necromancy I think it's called. Just wow!

Dell has improved their AW lineup noticeably this year. Except for AWCC.

Why did Dell put a 330W charger for only a 4060? I mean its been shown the 4060/4070 often can't reach their advertised 140W and usually stay around 100W. I would think 280W would be more than enough for a 4060 laptop. Not as big of a deal with the slim GAN charger, but that older weapon of a power brick would irk me if they gave me that. Also a shame no USB-C charging considering the m16 isn't exactly a budget range laptop. Think every gaming laptop now should have that by default.

Im looking at getting the m16 and I’m wondering if the i7 is worth it or should I save up and just get the i9. My plan was to do either the I7 or the i9 both with 4070

I had to sell the 4080 model m18. but I bought the m16 4070 model. at a very affordable price. I thought m18 was great. a real monster. and the cooling system was also very good. I hope the m16 4070 model will be like it.

I love Alienware products just purchase mine with RTX 4090 and brought the ram and ssd separately as per your upgrade video. Hopefully Alienware can sort out the Alienware command centre ACC. You mention there is alternate to ACC would love to see this video.

Hi Dave, I saw in this video you said a base models (4060 and 4070) of M16 have just 2 SSD slots, Dell seems to force users to upgrade to version 4080 or 4090. I plan upgrade to base model of M18 in the future (4060 version), replacing my 17R5, so I wonder if the same problem will happen with M18, not happy if M18 4060 has 2 slots, a half of 17R5. Can you make the same video of M18's 4060 version?😃

Did you game at all or run any tests in quiet mode? I hear the quiet mode's performance isn't a huge jump from balanced mode with the M16 which is very impressive if true.

Since they released the AMD models for the m18 and m16, how do they compare against the intel chips. Do the amd chips improve the battery life at all? do they offer any other benefits over the intel? I have heard the amd chips like the R9 7845hx is really good but nobody seems to have the amd m18.

I wanted to thank you for helping me understand what Dell/AW has been putting under the hood and the upgradability with your m15 R7 review from last year, it helped me choose the m15 R7 on sale over the G15 with all the right options (i7 12700H, 3060, 240Hz QHD screen, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD). So far it is great but I can understand the gripes about the chassis and AWCC from user experience. I feel that if I stay on top of maintenance for the m15 it is a worthwhile investment and the better machine over G series if you wait patiently for Dell's sales. Also been enjoying your videos on Alienware ever since finding your review, and I hope and pray as well that they can improve the AWCC before they roll out the new versions to the last gen Alienwares.

Sir can you confirm that these rtx 40 series laptops has nvidia "battery boost" inside "geforce experience" app? If they had so turn off the battery boost and wait for 1 minute and then do geekbench compute test on battery power or any other 3d benchmarks. If some of them has battery boost so please turn if off and then do geekbench compute test like Cuda and open cl on battery power.

I'm thinking of buying G16 7630 with i9-13th gen with 4070 8GB but I'm not reading many positive reviews. I don't know if only having one NVMe port is fine or not. Then I think it's better to go with Alienware m16 with i9-13th gen and 4070 8GB and pay 300$ more. Both have 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. What would you recommend? I'm very confused.

Nice review as always After receiving my replacement rig M18 r1 rtx 4080 have to write the Cpu is a beast as am sure the 4060-4070 is worth it if one wants a cheaper mid range with the performance as far as the 2230 dont think many will miss it but for content creators as yourself I can see the need for the 2230s as will as some that will use this for development purposes as well. Can anyone explain why the QHD+ 165hz 3ms 100% SRGB display is more expensive than the QHD+ 240hz 3ms 100% DCI-P3? The latter achieves a 99.6% SRGB accuracy... I will be using it for video and photo editing and the DCI-P3 will come in handy at some point. Thanks.

Always great and excellent content sir. I really liked balanced mode of this laptop. But i think Asus rog flow x16 2023, Asus Zenbook pro 16x oled 2023, yoga pro 9i 2023, and Asus predator series laptops and Legion 7i and many more options are way better than this.

It hits 100 Celsius degree with 4 fans. Something seems not right, doesn't it? Personally I own M15 R5 and I just get PTM7950, is it good choice? Now I'm getting 88 Celsius in Sims 4 and Genshin in balanced mode, it's my first gaming laptop after 9 years of using PC. Are these numbers bad and too hot? Should I repaste it as soon as possible?
