In this video, I unbox and install the All American Blade Sharpener Model 5005 Gen 2 and give it the trial run. After using this several times, I can say that I absolutely love the product. It is very easy to use for anyone (novice to skilled) and gives you the perfect edge on your mower blades every single time. It was well worth the investment! Great product from All American Sharpener.

I did a video on this too. Got it my first year in business in 2020. One of the best investments I've made. I was spending $10/blade for my local shop to sharpen about 10 blades. I change my blades weekly, so this paid for itself very quickly. Those complaining about the price.... If you own a business, this is a game changer for your blade maintenance. If you are a homeowner and have maybe 1-2 set of blades, it isn't for you. You are not their target audience. I can sharpen all my blades and put on my mowers in less than 45 minutes. I didn't like using a flap wheel. It rounded the top part of the blades and I just didn't like it. I also use the grinder handle on the other side to get a better grip on the grinder. I also mounted mine to a short 2x4 that I can quickly attach and detach from my trailer. This allows my to sharpen blades in the field if I need to. Great video and I hope you get some great use out of it! If you are just a homeowner, maybe you could market blade sharpening services in your area... I thought about doing that myself.

I totally agree - if you are sharpening blades constantly and spend the $220 on this device instead of paying someone to sharpen your blades, your investment will definitely pay off in the long run. I opted with this mainly due to the quality of the unit compared to the cheaper knock offs I found on Amazon. I sharpen 3 sets of blades all season long for my mower and rotate every 2-3 weeks, so this definitely saves me money in the long run and gives me the perfect edge every time. Great tip for using the handle on the left side of the grinder, I will try that next time. The mobility of this to mount to a trailer and be able to sharpen in the field is an awesome option for a commercial operation! You read my mind - I have had numerous followers here locally asking about blade sharpening since I preach the importance of sharp blades for overall turf health - I plan to launch a local service for those interested in the near future using this thing. I'm a homeowner who sharpens once a year. I will mow for the next 15 years till I'm 80yrs old. Paying someone to sharpen my 3 ZT blades $30 per year=$450 I will save a lot buying this jig and maybe even sharpen twice a year...🙂

This is amazing. I was introduced to this by PJ. Never purchased this but I really plan to hopefully. As a person who sharpens blades every 2-3 days. I say this is worth the money. A lot of people I know personally say they sharpen there own blades and when they still have tears, and bad cut quality 99% of the time it was the way they had sharpen the blades. Bad angles not sharpened enough or done backwards 🤦🏽♂️. This equipment will eliminate all those problems.

Absolutely! I finally decided to get one after hearing great feedback from everyone I saw using it. It definitely gives the perfect edge, as long as you have the angle set right there is no way you can really screw this up. I'm loving this so far.

Great "grown up" video! 3/8" hardware fits. Mounted mine to my bench with threaded inserts that stay in place. Bought a pair of 3/8" x1.5" bolts that have the same type adjustment knobs as the sharpener. I'm leaving the bracket on the unit, so using it will just be a matter of inserting the 'toolless' bolts through the bracket into the bench.👍

This looks like a quality made jig. I have used a cheaper model on Amazon before and I hated it. It just didn't keep the grinder straight and give me a good edge. This thing looks like it holds it nice and firm when you sharpen to keep a straight edge. Great video

Hey indiana the directions say don't run your finger along the length of the blade and clean it before you sharpen it. Great video and thanks for the demonstration

I will say this based from experience - I have tried one of the "cheaper" models of this on Amazon - it was terrible. I too own this model from All American Sharpener and can say that the quality is FAR superior than the cheap junk on Amazon. Sure it costs $220, however if you realistically sharpen your blades every 2-3 weeks and have more than one set (I have two sets), this thing pays off in a season or two in the money that you save from paying someone else to sharpen your blades. Great video Justin, I loved the detailed overview of the product and seeing you put it into action.

I have noticed that it is either the blade or the holder itself flexes? Just wondering how much that affects making the blades balanced.

Some of the battery mower blades are a bit thinner and flex slightly if you really push on them with the grinder. It is best to just make light passes with the grinder and not force it and let it make a nice edge. In doing this, I have not had any issues with this jig and blade balancing. Thanks for watching!

at what degree should I use....blade goes on a Honda mower...am using 30 degree for now?

Most of the blades I sharpen are at the 30 degree angle. I have had a few Honda blades I have had to alter to various angles to sharpen them correctly. They do make a jig adapter for this to better suit the Honda blades. Thanks for watching!

This unit is widely adaptable to different blades. They even have adapters for certain blades available on their website. I have sharpened a variety of blades with this jig and all have fit so far. Thanks for watching!

No, these are just the OEM blades that go on the Toro Timemaster. I have seen those Ballard blades and once these are at the end of their lifespan, I want to try those out. Do you use the Ballard blades? Do you like them? Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

Yes. In their defense, it is made out of solid steel and made in the USA, I opted to try this one over the cheap knockoffs on Amazon that sell for less than $100. As someone who has sharpened blades for over 15 years mostly with just a bench or angle grinder, this is a nice unit and definitely gives a novice the perfect angle every time. Totally understand it's not for everyone, thanks for watching as always Gary 🤜💥🤛

Same here, that was a major selling point for me as well. Plus I am now doing sharpening on the side for people in my local area for some extra income, so it was a no brainer purchase for me given all the positives.
