Hello everyone! Today I’m sharing my Grammy’s weekly cleaning routine. I never said how much time it took me but minus the camera work and my lunch date with Jorge, it took me 4 hours to clean my house in addition to one “space of interest.” I feel so good about my home now and actually got quite the workout! I ❤this! There are so many right ways to a cleaning routine...this way is how my mother cleaned and how I try to, as well. There were 3 children in my home...we were up on Saturday morning by 8 a.m. We all worked in the house together to get the entire home clean until around 11a.m. Then, my mother maintained the daily house chores through the week, but what a WONDERFUL feeling to have the ENTIRE home clean in one day!😇 My mother would sit down and say, "Isn't it just wonderful to sit and look around at a clean house?"😆

I have 2 large dog so I clean everyday. Make my bed, vacuum, dust, mop, and clean all counters & sinks and then toilets and bathtubs and showers when needed. It takes me less time this way and my house is always clean. Blinds, baseboards etc. once a month. Back and front porches as.needed. Laundry only twice a week with no children. Love your videos.❤️❤️❤️❤️

When you sweep everything into one corner and then vacuum it...that’s genius! Lol. I always hated sweeping because I felt like all the dust and dirt would just fly around and I could never get everything. I am definitely going to start doing that from now on 💖

It’s a blessing to have a table with crumbs means family gathering in the most wonderful place in a home enjoying meals and that quality time is more important than clean up and those moments... many people don’t have table, crumbs/food nor family to enjoy such blessings... it’s like a dirty stove; means God blesses us with food

Nikki, we observe Sabbath in our family so I do my cleaning on Thursday or Friday so that on Friday evening when Sabbath begins I can enjoy the day with a clean house. It feels so nice! I've tried breaking it up throughout the week but I've never been able to stick with it that way. Your house cleaning is simply lovely. 💕

This video seems so much more like a truer reflection of you. I loved the music selection... it was difficult for me to sit through the whole thing because I wanted to hop up and get to work! I just loved it...and though I’m sure that it’s nice to receive the positive feedback, I do not doubt for a second that you would be doing this very thing even if the cameras were not rolling. What a beautiful home you have Nikki. I believe that encouraging your children to tidy up frequently and be responsible is a good thing. It has always been my philosophy to stay on top of my housework/garden and although one should try not be a slave to chores the truth is that the jobs just have to be done and therefore why not achieve to the best of our ability and be proud of those achievements. As a working mum with 2 children I stayed on top and encouraged my children to be responsible for their mess. When my son quoted me at his wedding recently, he said he was so grateful I had instilled this quality in him, to be the best he could and as his mum I felt I had done my job. XX

I'm a single mother who works 2 jobs, 4:30am to 6pm so it's really hard to fit in daily cleaning task. I like to do the bulk of my cleaning on my one day off.

Wow. I am watching this with Debussy's Arabesque in the background and am throughly enjoying myself. If this doesn't motivate me to deep clean, I don't know what will! And your home is absolutely beautiful.

I’ve watched while I’ve been exercising on my stationary bike and now I’m motivated to get off and clean my house!

Hi Nikki, I love that you are not afraid to try to mix up your routines to see what works for you. I have done the same experimenting with doing one chore a day but have always come back to the once a week cleaning. I just love the feeling of the whole house being clean at once. I do what I call “light cleaning” once a week with the basics (vacuum, clean bathrooms, kitchen, sweep, wash sheets) and then what I call “big cleaning” day once a month where I clean deeper (scrub tile in showers, wet mop all floors, dust etc.), then I do Spring Cleaning starting in March with the really deep cleaning. It has worked for me over the years after trying different things. I’ve also tried to get my family more involved now that the kids are older but I really resonated with you when you said-you just needed to clean your kids bathroom and not wait for them to pick up the stuff. I feel the same way sometimes, just need to get it done! :)

How rude of your guests to mention the food in the table! I use toothpick or butter knife to loosen everything before vacuuming. I've also used an old pastry brush. I have a white crochet tablecloth my Grandma made and I use a white tablecloth under it. Helps with spills, although I prefer the look with the wood of the table peeking thru. The table is beautiful. Shame on those guests! I love you office. Is the little door on the wall a doggie or kitty door? So cute! Your hair looks beautiful curled, up or down!

As soon as you wiped around the toilet bowl with the rag, you moved to the top of the list for me. That is the way we were taught.

I remember my grandmother always putting a light colored tablecloth under her lace tablecloth for added protection!

I love watching your videos! I became a SAHM 2.5 years ago and it has been a journey trying to find my daily rhythm/routine at home. With 2 kids and a husband with a very demanding job I almost felt like I was alone. Your channel (and others I follow) I feel have helped me find my way. Thank you ❤️

I own a farmhouse table like yours. A toothbrush helps with the cracks. You can place a plastic liner on the bottom of the lace tablecloth.😘❤️ Great video! Thanks for sharing. Stay blessed. Ara

Dear Nikki, I love a clean house and get so much joy when my home was clean and orderly. Because I worked full time on Saturday I spent the whole day deep cleaning my home. When I looked back ( at myself ) I lost precious moments with my two sons when they were growing up. I was constantly yelling at my sons and husband because I wanted the perfect clean house. I also ashamed to say I judged people on how they kept their home. My sons are grown men now and unfortunately for me they have become distant. They resented that my priorities were focus on keeping the house perfect. If I could change history I would have lived the moment and be present when my sons were growing up. I realized to late they didn’t care how clean the house was they just wanted me to be present. I have no excuses for myself, but if I would have known better I would have done better. I am now a lonely old lady with a clean house.

I pick a day and clean and make sure during the day I keep things picked up. Have a bless and wonderful day!

When my kids were little (& I had more energy for this big ole house) I cleaned this way. We had one "stay home day" a week and I got all the big stuff done. This allowed for more freedom the rest of the week to go to the park, the zoo, a friend's house, whatever. Also, LOVE the curls, Nikki! Really suits you!🌸

I loved this cleaning video so much, so realistic and motivating ❤️ For the table, maybe a transparent plastic cover under the lace one is a good idea to protect the wood and avoid accumulated food in the cracks 🌹

An idea to avoid the crumbs in the cracks of the table would be to have a piece of glass cut for the top. Beautiful video, LOVE your hair!

Wow! I wouldn't invite those guests back if it was me. How rude. I have a friend who was a nanny for 10 years. And she said if anyone came over and complained about the house being too dirty for them, hand them a cleaning kit and say firmly, but kindly 'Im so sorry my home is not up to youre standard. Here's a cleaning kit, get cleaning'. That usually ended it.

No idea why you showed up in my recommended videos but I'm glad you did. No clue who you or anything. Its rather scary in a way, if I had my own home it would look very similar as yours. That is a side of me that no one has seen or really knows about me. The shabby chic, romantic elegance, feminine, farmhouse-ish, Victorian inspired loveliness. Utterly charming. The way your feet, legs and ankles moved across the floor while mopping, gave me Saturday morning ballet lesson feels. It was such a delight to view this video. Its so rare that I find people who match who I really am on the inside. I'm thrilled to find you. As for the cracks in the table staying clean...that's a never ending chore. I find a thin microfiber cloth and a butter knife can help. What rotten bad manners the folks had who bought that up. I'm not totally sure, they might not be back over. Very impolite. I'm sorry you had such an experience. I'll be watching more of your videos as I'm very impressed🌷🌺

I also do all my cleaning on Monday. I do all my laundry. I will dust and I'll clean the bathroom and do the kitchen as will on mondays. Yet I only have 3 kids in 900 sq ft and love how effortlessly it is to keep a tidy home.

I'm a residential cleaner and have been watching cleaning videos for years and have never seen someone wash their curtains haha even when doing a "deep clean" or "spring clean". I wash mine every 3 months or so. I've always found it odd no one did that. Also the sweeping into a corner and vacuuming it up... Seems simple enough to me lol

I found your lovely channel when I was looking for Flylady related videos. Like you, I no longer follow that method to the letter. Im no longer physically able to clean everything in one day so I have a lighter schedule of sorts I have to follow. I still do a weekly home blessing every Monday though - I love how fresh and tidy it makes everything and I also get to touch and appreciate all my little “pretty things”.

Hi Nikki!! Really enjoying your video. For your dining table, maybe consider some glass on top to prevent items getting in the cracks. There are also automotive detail cleaning brushes that can get in those cracks flick it out so the vaccum can catch it. But, there is no way I would clean that daily as you said. Thanks for such a lovely video. I will watch it m.j any times to clean along with you. Enjoy the rest of your week.

My mom would always put a clear thick plastic around the table top and put the table cloth over it if she wants to hide the plastic but that protects the table and also help to keep it clean

This was inspiring. I have always liked to clean the whole house on Monday especially when I was younger and had more energy. It is nice to get it all done. I like to clean and make things look pretty. I would rather clean than cook. Lol. The music was nice too. Really enjoyed it. Thanks Nikki.

Beautiful home. Thanks for the motivation! I have been ignoring deep cleaning my kitchen floor but now I’m going to get to it! I always get on my hands and knees and that’s partially why I have been avoiding. Maybe I need to give that up and finally get a mop. Your hair looks nice curled and in an updo. I have similar hair to yours, and when I want to make it more interesting I use Caruso Steam Rollers, which are very easy, quick, and non-damaging.

Yay! I loved it when you had your cleaning day:) that’s how I clean (except when I was heavily pregnant and postpartum I did a little every day and my husband would help catch me up on the weekend). I feel like this is the best way to do it for my house, get a good clean of everything once a week, and then keep up with tidying and laundry during the week. I like to have my cleaning day be Friday so that we can relax during the weekend in a clean house. Especially Sunday because I don’t like to do housework on the Day or Rest. But then Monday I have air of housework to do as well. I guess I have 2 cleaning days: Friday and Monday lol your hair is beautiful by the way:)

My grandmother on my dads side, made me dust everything in her house, every other weekend. Every Knick knack you can imagine... I’ve dusted it. 🤦🏼‍♀️ It made me hate dusting... so needless to say....I do not dust very often. Thankfully we are building our own home soon and there will be NO CARPET in my new home. Dusting will be reduced. YAY! Anyhow, I have to tell you how beautiful you are. As a side note. (You have the sweet profile of Anna in Frozen. Anna is my favorite character in Frozen.) What a relaxing and motivating video at the same time. I, too, usually clean in one day. Actually, I do my weekly cleaning one day and the “area of interest” which is the area in my zone cleaning the other day. I work 3 days a week and like to have my weekends as days that I don’t clean. I’ve tried the FLY lady system but as I don’t spend every day at home what o do works better. By the way, your hair looks lovely in this video 😊

Nikki, if you are like me, the crumbs in the table cracks probably bother you more than you let on. Maybe you could get Jorge to put some sort of sealant on the top so that wouldn’t happen. As usual, your video was inspiring and beautiful! I appreciate the beauty you create in your everyday life.

So so lovely! I want a house like yours... 🌸 I think Flylady system is for people who start with getting into it more. I also do that and am happy with it, but nowadays when I have a day at home I rather just go with my gut and start cleaning the whole house at once. 🤷‍♀️ Those 15 minutes break the snowballeffect and flow.
