The first installment of Sports & Exotic Car presented by Gullwing Motor Cars brings you “Godzilla”: Nissan’s R32 Skyline GT-R.
In this picturesque countryside of North Wales, host Jethro Bovingdon goes full JDM with a spirited journey testing the attributes of the most-storied four-seat sports sedan in his first-ever opportunity to pilot the Group A masterpiece.
At a time when some exotics had yet to be fitted with fully independent suspension, the R32 Skyline provided technology previously unheard of in an all-wheel-drive, four-place passenger car.

great respect for Jethro from a fan of his talent from Ukraine, I have been following his work since 2012 from EVO magazine

Out of all the Journo’s I’ve followed since I was a youngster, Jethro’s always been the one I think I’d connect with the most. He’s like me in that he’s an 80’s kid who grew up on ‘90s performance cars. Love seeing cool 90’s cars getting revisited and having some spotlight shone on them from a well respected journo, who drooled over these cars as much as my mates and I did growing up! Top work

Great review Jethro. Very few reviewers seem to really get it. A standard R32 GT-R is pretty dull but they come alive when you get them north of 400hp. When you bear in mind that it was developed in the late 80s and launched in 1989 it was very much ahead of its time.

Hate to correct you Jethro but in Australia it was the Australian Touring car championship not "Supercars" that the GTR competed in. Brilliant video as always from you, have always enjoyed your content wherever you are at and looking forward to more.

There's a good podcast interview with Fred Gibson of Gibson Motorsport which he talks about how they basically redesigned and rebuilt the GTR for racing in Australia as it was cheaper, stronger and more powerful than the Nismo cars. components

My personal preference is unmolested models. That said finding a GT-R (or Supra) and then paying for it gets it over in the Unicorn world. Looking forward to your review of the 1st gen NSX, preferably the NA1. Solid work on GT-R.

@@carseyeadmire I have a 5/20 Car & Driver "cars worth waiting for" and the GRC was listed. I do enjoy the car, not perfect but close enough. Toyota's approach is obviously different with a 1.6L engine. My brother has an older Z06, same size front brakes as the GR. Firm ride but not harsh. Trick is to find one for a reasonable price. I have a Core, $40.5K. It's a good low/mid $40s car, it's not a good $50+ car.

As a BNR32 owner, this review is absolutely spot on. Standard they are very underwhelming, but modified ones are where the legend comes from. Mine is 570bhp which isn’t massive by today’s standards. But the sound, the smell, the rawness of it, that’s why I love her.

Vspec R32 GT-R didn't have an electronic differential. That came in the R33/R34. Add a little toe out and some camber and the turn in gets sharper.

Although I wouldn’t claim it’s as great as an R32 GTR (my absolute poster car), my Impreza STi gives me that same feeling you described when you said it makes every road the perfect road. Summed it up exactly, especially for UK roads and conditions.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!! They NEVER USED the 4 Wheels Steering. They BLOCKED THAT OFF For Group A!!!!!!! Get your facts right!!!!!!! NO they all used Attessa Contollers. I have a Field ETS Controller. I can make my car 50/50 on straights and 50/50 on bends depending where i dial the gauge. I can make it 100 front and 100 back!!!!!!!!!! I CAN DIAL IN ANYTHING I WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They used HICAS in Japan, you also can't put 100% power to the front wheels, power is always going to the rear wheels, all you are doing is changing how much pressure is pushing against the clutch packs in the transfer case.

They NEVER used the 4 wheel steering in racing!!!!!! That was something for idiot drivers. In racing they ALL used a BLOCK on the rear subframe and blocked the pipes. Tell the truth for ffs!!!!!! I know i have an Nov 89 N1 car!!!!!!! They also used Attesa Black Boxes. So they could create 100% RWD on straights. Or 50/50 on bends!!!!!!! I have a Attessa override box that does this!!!!!! OK!!!!!!!!!!!
