he isnt a flawless hero. he was born from a mistranslation 300 years ago. he makes mistakes, he loses battles, he dies. but no matter what, he always remembers to never give up, and he gets back up and tries again, not letting anything, not even the dark hands of death, bar his way. he developed from a poorly man to a superpowered person with godlike powers, and excelled at everything, whether it be politics, military or superhuman feats. it is amazing how a mistranslation has created a protagonist with amazing character development.

We can see how He is gaining experience with years. First steps in World War I, almost singe-handedly winning World War II, literally playing games with whole world and mastering the art of regeneration in Cold War. In modern times he decided to go for the retirement and is now just making some actions for fun, travelling etc. Even confessed to participate in Civil War probably to his children. Wikipedia knows how to handle character development
