Instant sub. Great compilation. John's always had it. Not many players can collab with djs, blues legends, r&b artists, jazz cats, big bands, rock stars, rap giants, folk / Americana legends, cult icons, pop stars and cool contemporary artists and always bring something to the table.

His diversity in his collaborations is what sets John apart imo. Other great guitarists stay in a rock/blues lane, but John dares to go outside of that and still make great music.

i love the look jay z gives john mayer as hes ripping the solo! one of confusion and bewildered amazement, reminds me of how he looked at chester from linkin park when he screamed "shut up!", its rare to see someone who is such an icon in hip hop respect other music styles even if they dont fully understand it or are not that knowledgeable in the area.

Great compilation!! Would be awesome to see you create another comp of his work with the Dead. He has some superbly incredible solos throughout his 5+ year tenure with the band. I know the Dead isn't for everyone but if you are a music fan of any kind, you will seriously enjoy Mayer's Deady jams. Much love everyone.

This was undocumented but John Mayer played the guitar part on the eplogue of halo 2 (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fqmSebNpz6_GnWQ.html&t), this was not known until Martin O Donell talked about it on a documentary of the remake of halo 2, this was not documented because John didn´t wanted his manager at the time to know about it, but it is said that the gamertag of John can be found in the credits of the game so he could tell his friends that he was involved on the soundtrack.

it’s easy to overlook john mayer because the 21st century is so saturated with guitarists posting amazing things everywhere but regardless of what you think of JM or his music there’s no denying he’s one hell of a guitarist - i would say the closest thing a lot of younger generations have had to a hendrix or a stevie ray vaughan

John Mayer is up there with Stevie Ray Vaughan (I actually believe that John Mayer today is playing better than SRV, which is pretty unfair to Stevie since were he alive we don't know the levels he would have reached). Anyways, if there were no SRV, there would be no John Mayer.

I have never really seen that full Derek Trucks Robert Randolph jam but holy hell back when John was red hot! Also the John Mayer and Paul Simon collab had more songs! Late in the Evening and Slip Sliding Away had great solos! Also I really dislike it when John does that SRV minor thing in a song that obviously doesn't need it. I guess he's trying to add some tension/flair into it but it never settles w/ my ear and I'm a guy that likes Jazz/Fusion music along w/ Blues

The Chris Botti clip at 22:17 is actually from late 2015 or early 2016. John is playing a PRS 594 prototype which he received in late 2015.

Awesome video! One small edit, though. The second wee small hours performance looks to be 2015. Mayer wasn't looking like that in 2011, and you can also hear the garcia influence in his playing at this point. EDIT: I also forgot to mention that he's clearly playing a PRS here, which he hadn't played on anything except stitched up until around 2015
