Oh, even more fun reference things: - Sennonzakura Expert has a Full Combo with exactly 1000 notes - Hello Planet has a lot of static distortion effects that match the song visuals, and even the audio in the final section - Pretty sure ECHO has references to the 'echo' effect and the 'mirror'

1:59 this definitely is a reference! the lyric here reads “age no toki datte, sage no toki datte”, or ‘even in ups, even in downs’. the notes here are arrows, facing up and down according to the lyrics. next it says, “kakimazechatte, supaisu datte”, or ‘mix them all, even the spices’. we see the notes in the first line mixing together, and in the second the notes are little circles like sprinkling spices into a dish!!! the map for this song is full of references to the lyrics. it’s really fun to tear it apart lol

@@xephenatsu5009 They didn't stop making patterns like that necessarily, they just had less ways to make them effectively. Like for example, the "39"'s in 39 Music, the heart in Dreamin Chuchu or the way the hold notes form stitches in Tokyo Teddy Bear (Mix Mode)

Honestly- this might be Sega showing their Diva experience (just a thought though)! Diva charts do similar things although they are more limited in what they can do due to the way the game works (they don’t have holds that they can mold to any shape they like for example). In diva they will typically have references in the shape that the notes end up making as you play or how the notes fly on screen at certain parts. I’m not sure if the diva team is on Sekai but if they are I can imagine how excited they were to be able to create more references for the fans to find with this chart style.

For the Niccori one where you said you think it didn't reference anything,it actually did! It references "Turn that frown upside down and make it a big smile" by having hold notes shaped like a sad and a happy person! And also the part with the arrows pointing up and down, the hold notes blended together, and the small round hold notes sprinkled around when they sing "Even if there are ups, even if there are downs, just mix them all in! And don't forget the spices!"

1:59 I think this one has a slight lyric reference, but more to the mv. The lyrics are Tsukasa, Nene and Emu singing, "In the high times (Tsukasa) In the low times (Nene) Mix it all up and add some spice! (Emu)" And the music video is Tsukasa pointing up then Nene pointing down then Emu moving her arms in a shaking motion. The arrows represent high and low times! This has probably already been pointed out, but just something I noticed!

When it says "Passport", there's a square hold, which is the passport. When it says "Powerbank/Mobile Battery" there's a rectangular hold note and a squiggly line, which is a powerbank and charger cord.
