All the low mints - Australian $2 coins Book 1, Ep 12
I find coins & I collect coins.
Australia has some of the best looking coins on the planet.
Our standard coins are classics of animal depictions.
Our commemoratives are World class and world leading.
Join me as I noodle through Australian $2 coins looking for our countries coloured commemorative coins, rare coins and coins that can be worth more than face value.
This is near the beginning of a new series of coin hunting where I sort through $2 coins looking for all the commemorative coins issued for circulation since the introduction of the $2 coin in 1988.
Watch and follow me as I attempt to complete a full set.

Good hunt. $2s are slow. Which is probably a good thing because you'll quickly tie up a lot of money by sitting on spares.

Also where did you get your cheat sheet from? That's a good idea. I was given a different kind of cheat sheet from a coin dealer. It's pretty basic, only covers commemoratives. I didn't 'learn' anything new from their sheet. Honestly it was just a neat marketing ploy by the shop. If you didn't have one of the coins on the list they had one ready to sell to you. Good business idea but not beneficial to me as a noodler.

So how do you get these rolls of coins from the bank? Do you swap notes for them ? Im confused
@PhilFindsCollects
@PhilFindsCollects 2 жыл бұрын
In the simplest terms, Yes. I exchange cash for rolls. Of any denomination. I’m not sure where you are located by I'm in Australia and the majority of our Banks will do this for you. Sometimes they will charge for the service. You can ask at the counter, and they can swap cash for rolls of small Ziplock bags. Additionally, the majority of them have coin dispensing and depositing ATM's. They usually require you to have an account at that bank and the depositing ATM's put the money into your account. Similarly, you are required to have an account to use the dispensing ATM but you pay by inserting cash.

Hi, sorry to bother you. I don't know if this is a rare coin or worth anything. Looks like a slop sided (the outer ring is off to a side) 2009 coin. Should i keep it or send it back?
@PhilFindsCollects
@PhilFindsCollects 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking, If that's a $2 2009 and its off to the side about half a Millimeter then they can be pretty common and it can go back. But if you don't have another and you like the look of it then it could be a keeper for your collection. Hard to say with out seeing it.

Hi Actionmates, I use ebay to buy my collection books. There are lots out there by I like the VST books because they come with the years and mint number details. VST make albums for all of the Australian denominations and there are Multiple sellers online. If you have a Coin shop near you they should also carry them or similar books. I buy the $2, $1 & 50c books. They are "VST AUSTRALIAN $2 COIN ALBUM 1988 to 2021 MINTAGE'S PRINTED" "VST Australian $1.00 Coin Album 1984-2021 With Printed Mintage" "VST AUSTRALIAN 50c COIN ALBUM for 50c COLLECTION 1966 - 2021" VST makes collection books for most denominations in different colours.

Hi Omni god, Yes. It was issued by the Australian Mint in conjunction with Woolworths Supermarkets. It came out in 2021 to commemorate Australian participating in the Paralympic Games held just after the Tokyo Olympics. You could Buy them from the Supermarket in a special card for $3 In the middle it had the Mascot call Lizzy the Lizard. We dont know how many were minted by going by past issues most people think only 2 Million were issued.

@PhilFindsCollects

Just keep it simple. Secure them, so they(the coins)don't slide or rattle around. Use light card in the envelope (say folded over) to ensure that the envelope doesn't have tell tale round coin marks. I'll do a video in the next few weeks , Keep an eye out.

Hi Phillip, I definitely look for the 2011. And i have kept some 93's (see episode 17) But with the 2000, there are quite a few years now, especially commemorative, that have lower mintages than the 2000. I don't look out for that.
