Because now when you look at him you'll begin feeling like they do look alike, but before you heard it? They look sorta similar it's true, but that happens all the time across anime. They have similar roles it's true, but that happens all the time in anime. Role being, father/rolemodel figure to the main protagonist who is extremely OP. He also doesn't have a left arm like Shanks, but also doesn't have a left leg and hapf of his organs, so that's different. But regardless thank you for not thinking he looked like Shanks.
