My big issue with the patch is the lighting change. One of the few things I thought was consistently great about the game was the graphics and the art direction. Putting a blue, hazy filter over everything has totally dismantled that for me. House and plot look "cold" now, especially inside. Of all the things to change, I don't understand changing the core graphics or lighting, especially when no one has requested it.

i think they were trying to brighten things because everyone kept complaining it was "too dark." 🤔 Don't know why they settled on that look. Honestly, all they really needed to do was up the amount of area of light the lamps cast. 😥

I really hope they add pets that you can get in-game (no purchase required). I DO NOT like cash shops in general, but having an entirely new cosmetic feature that free players cannot access is predatory to me.

They seems to have removed "oysters" from the beatch, farmed 90 shells, 25 corals, even 2 purple rare snails, no oyster, so, they bugged their spawn out really good...basically 8+ ingame quest atm cant be completed unless you request those quest item from other player.

It's unfortunate that you have to make a purchase to get the cats but I did notice that only some of the pictured cats were unlocked through purchase so perhaps they're going to set up a way to earn the other in-game or by getting people to join via referral codes? There could also be other pets coming along that are free. We don't know yet but I hope so! 😅👍

@@Fleurs_ I'm sure they'll be adding more soon. I was actually more surprised they started with cats since they already had a dog running around the place, lol. Maybe they're planning the dogs to be something in-game obtained, hopefully. Apparently, one of the cats (the sandy colored one) can be obtained with a purchase of $5 in real money but the other three colors need you to have spent around $30 to unlock. You can't even name them right now though so I think they were probably released too soon. 😅

@@lukask4498 Yep. I'm thinking that eventually there will be in-game obtainable pets, either for purchase, from quests or from events, but probably not for a while because the pets might be their biggest money makers, lol. 😅👍

I struggle with iron so bad, I’ll run around the second map and sometimes never see a single iron rock. I also think prices for nearly everything needs to be buffed slightly. I bought a outfit the other day I’m going to log in before work this morning to get my kat.

There is alot of iron, what players don't realized when farming for iron is that nodes will respon quicker if you mine everything in the are, including stone nodes.

The cash shop is "fine" but it's also predatory. as the money you need is never enough, its just under, so you're forced to spend more. It's a disgusting practicing that is used in a majority of games, was just hoping Palia would be different.

I didn't have a chance to play much yet, but it seems that controllers are 95% broken now. They were useable in a limited state but now only work for moving around.

I don't understand why people complain about the fact you need to pay for the cats. This game is free to play, you should be really happy about that. They need to make money somehow. And cats are not necessary to play the game.

Same and in the evenings so I don't get to play in the day either as I'm taking care of my son. Last night was my first evening to myself to get some proper work done and it still didn't feel like long enough! 😅

They added something in the update where you have to click to resume walking after doing any action like entering/exiting the home plot, opening chests, the map, talking to villagers. I hope this is just a bug because it's so annoying

The game doesn’t let me and I don’t know why to pay for Palia coins. I put all of my porches things in my credit card and in the bottom of “pay” it’s like block. I cannot click it and I don’t understand why

Definitely very disappointing as they said it would be cosmetics only. Now they are locking a feature also behind a paywall. I would've make sense to give the base cat for free and sell the skins.

It’s a free game and they need to make money. Bottom line. It’s unfortunately how the world works. And pets do not change your game play. They are just some annoying thing that’s dragged behind you when you walk. Lol.

Well I heard some warcraft developers are working on this game and most warcraft pets were store bought but you could get some from special quests or seasonal events (which I hope they do!) So although this first one is from a purchase, I'm sure they'll make some quest rewards or rare drops from chests etc

Sadly, the devs destroyed the solid controller support that they had. So I'm putting this game on the shelf. Shame because it is a fun game but this last patch reduced animal spawns, destroyed the controller support, and saw the decrease in foraging supplies may cause this game to lose its audience.

I love the new patch and my little Sandy pet. The new lighting I actually like. Not so dark, easier to see & hunt at night. The new furniture looks great. Can't wait to see the new NPCs and get new quests. I'm gonna have to pick up the Builder Bundle soon. Really cool. I have the Trailblazer and love it.

What? No. Either you haven't played Minecraft or you haven't played Palia. Palia is a finite world. It could expand over time but much different than the procedurally generated world of minecraft. Minecraft leans heavy on player imagination to create, Palia just sells you cosmetics and you chase preset designs.

I understand why people are disappointed about pets being behind a paywall, but honestly, it makes sense. They do need to make money somehow, and introducing pets will incentivise those that can splash out a bit to do so. And tbh, I am so so impressed and addicted to this game so far, I felt like they deserved some of my money 😅 I imagine more pets are coming though, hopefully there will end up being at least a couple of free options for folks. But at the end of the day, a free to play game needs to make money one way or another. And at least, when it's just cosmetics/pets/etc, nobody can get unreasonably ahead in the game (unlike other MMOs where you can buy coins and stuff 😬). I think it's actually a really great compromise. I gotta say I'm really so impressed with the game, and I'm sooo excited for the future updates

@@gwolf9642 You have a free game, that functions pretty damn well for a beta. With all the functionality, OTHER than a few cosmetic items and 4 pets... You can do everything else for free. Everything of worth, all the meat and bones of the game is free! Again, all you're "missing out on" is a few cosmetics that you are in no way forced to buy in order to progress in the game. I struggle to see how this is predatory. I think their transparency in how they intend to make money is extremely refreshing for the MMO genre. Or any genre for that matter. Even paid games worth £60 use a rotating shop system and loot boxes. And you can buy coins and all that trash. Stuff that actually destroys games, destroys in-game currency and makes newer players feel like they can never catch up, makes it feel like there's no point in working to get through the game naturally when so many just sink their real life funds into it. This is not what Palia is doing. This far exceeds that. It's just a little cosmetic extra for those who want to give a little to all the people that worked on the game, and get a cool outfit/pet in return. I think that's perfectly fair. If you don't like the game, hell, if you don't like their strategies for how they'll make a living from it, don't play it. That's fine. But personally, I'm absolutely loving it so far, and hope it sticks around for a long time! It's a beta at the end of the day. And it was never going to be perfect, as beta's never are. I hope they listen to the constructive criticism, as regards early-game money-making and storage capacity (two things that really do need looking at and improving in future updates). But a few cosmetics behind a paywall is really not a big deal to me these days. So long as it doesn't impact gameplay, I personally don't mind. And I do recognise that the developers gotta get paid for their work.

@@petrichorest Don't overlook the points I'm trying to make. People are not sticking around to keep playing this game. It's great that it's free, if people want to play it. If the game is good, we WILL pay to play it. I buy cosmetics and packs in other games. Nothing in Palia's shop makes me want to make a purchase.

I honestly couldn't care less about the pets. If people have money cool I do as well but it has 0 impact on the game. What I do care about: They nerfed bugs They nerfed hunting They nerfed the beach They nerfed foraging in general They increased iron spawn rate? (That was already too easy to get) No adjustments to flow trees or palium (RIDICULOUS) These devs are clueless. Like we need literally TENS of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of gold and they did nothing but nerf every early game ways to make it increasing the grind for new players. How stupid. I'm furious about this. Then they nerf the storage chest on second plot. WHY is the recipe for copper chests 25k TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF why not 5k? why not 10k TWENTY FIVE K.. ? Very unhappy wit this "update".

I like cooking, but Butter + Eggs are so fucking expensive that it doesn’t make sense to craft steak recipes, which is taking away any motivation to hunt, beside selling flesh for gold.
