Yes, Boca is the second part of the Dystopia trilogy. the first song is "Scream" and the last song is "Odd Eye" Dreamcatcher is, in my opinion, by far the most underrated group out there in K-Pop. Their B-sides are as good as their title tracks on the albums. If you're looking for a heavy-rock influenced title, you have "Endless Night", a japanese song. Also, for your next reaction to them (because I REALLY hope you do another one), you can finish the Dystopia trilogy by watching Scream then Odd Eye, or watch a fan-favourite song called "Deja Vu", something that a lot of people reference to as a "anime opening vibe" music (and they're partially right as it was made for the game "King's Raid")

Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?

For some more information about the song and the trilogy : Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the line "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in the past years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about everybody who suffer from online hate. There's a lot more to this song than I'm saying here, but I don't want to write a big, indigestible paragraph that wouldn't be read. One thing we love about Dreamcatcher is their songs having pretty deep lyrics, talking about real and important issues that unfortunately don't get talked about much. (or, for their first serie, "Nightmare", having a deep lore with a lot of interpretations and lore-digging possible). The MVs also are interessant to analyse, as they complete the lyrics, and can give many hints.

I love *Dreamcatcher.* I love their tracks/songs. Their concept is amazing. Their discography is top-tier. Their MVs are awesome.

dreamcatcher \:D/ curious if someone recommended boca if they described dreamcatcher as metal lol. boca is part of their dystopia trilogy which is imo their most mainstream pop sounding, with hints of guitar so I guess for someone who doesn't listen to rock might consider it metal 😅. first and foremost, they are a vocal oriented group so that falls into pop, but they do mix it up a lot with instrumentation and do use a lot of rock/metal influences to varying degrees in each song. when I say mix it up, they really mix it up because their discography spans across all genres and they will rarely reuse sounds heard in previous songs. even their use of rock/metal is vary diverse. it's hard to recommend a song because all of them are so different and will appeal to different musical taste, but if you want to hear a song that is more on the heavier rock side all the way through, try endless night. their most recent apocalypse trilogy(maison, vision, bon voyage) has a lot more industrial rock/metal influences so if you are into that, but they got a lot of cool songs outside of rock as well.

This is the second song of a trilogy (Scream, Boca, Odd Eye), but the viewing order of the first two doesn't really make much difference.

Dreamcatcher was known as a group called "MINX" and it was composed of 5 members : Jiu, Dami, Yoohyeon, SuA and Siyeon. The concept was bubbly (I like bubbly concept). MINX debuted in 2014 with 'Why Did You Come To My Home?' [MV]. But they rebranded it to "Dreamcatcher" and debuted as a 7 member group : Jiu (Leader), Yoohyeon, Dami, Handong (She wasn’t a MINX member), Gahyeon (Maknae) (She wasn’t a MINX member), Siyeon and SuA. Dreamcatcher has been known for their dark concept (I like dark concept too). Dreamcatcher debuted in 2017 with 'Chase Me' MV.

You should check out all of Dreamcatcher's title tracks, they have a unique rocks sound that they stick to, but they also always find a way to change it up. But a couple of songs I would suggest would be Good Night (an early song) and Vision (a more recent song). They have a substantial metal head following for a Kpop group.

Dreamcatcher is my favourite K-POP group but I listen to a lot of other K-POP groups and other stuff as well. Scream (Part-1) and also Boca (Part-2) have another english subtitle tracks available where they put the name of the member in front of each line. There is a also a great 'BOCA' Dance Video (K-Zombie ver.) available. Handong is missing in those parts (in Scream she was replaced with a dancer wearing a mask) as she was stuck in China during the Covid shutdown and couldn't return. She joins the rest of the group again in "Odd Eye" (Part-3). I've seen Dreamcatcher 3 times live (last one only 3 month ago) and if they are in your area I can highly recommend to get tickets. At some point you'll get to the track "Good night". Then (maybe even before that) you might also check out "Rolling Quartz" (more K-Rock). They are also Dreamcatcher fans and know each other personally. RQ got the chance to cover "Good night" and put it on their official album release...something which doesn't happen very often. I attended their concerts as well two times this year and just got my ticket for the concert in January 2025. Fun fact: A lot of people I talked to while waiting before the RQ concert also said they are DC fans....and I also saw some again at the Everglow as well as the Dreamcatcher concerts following the RQ concert. 😂 I hope we'll see an DC+RQ on stage collab or special clip at some point in the future. I think DC + RQ is a perfect match!

Most of their Japanese tracks are either proper metal or hard rock (Endless Night, My Way, I Miss You, No More, Eclipse (Opening 2 for the anime King's Raid: Successors of the Will), Don't Light My Fire (a bit darker, reminds me a bit of symphonic metal). Their debut as Dreamcatcher, Chase Me, is decently heavy, along with the follow-up Good Night.

Thankfully, Dreamcatcher has more than 100+ songs since they have debuted in 2017. If you want the most metal influenced song from them try "Endless Night" or "Curse of the spider(concert version)"

Dreamcatcher doing rock/metal influence in kpop group format, alongside Dreamcatcher, you gonna love Rolling Quartz too, the difference is they do band format. Also - the drummer is (or was) a drum teacher of one of dreamcatcher member - the bassist also a fan of dreamcatcher (she has KZfaq channel named RUMI and have an unboxing video like the regular fans) - they (as a group) do a remake of dreamcatcher's song titled Good Night Both dreamcatcher and rolling quartz also signed under lower mid tier agency, so they need to work harder just to get enough attention. Also they both female group, they both rock influenced which are the least recipe to get famous in Korea (Korea in general glorifying boygroup more than girlgroup, and having rock genre as the least genre to be liked) Having them in that situation, it sounds impossible to work if they don't work harder. Because they need to show more skills and talents to be recognised, not the group which already famous before making a debut. So their popularity felt more organic and more meaningful for themselves and the fans

If you want their most rock/metal tracks then I'd recommend "goodnight" "what" and some of their japanese songs like "No More" and "Endless Night" Dreamcatcher is very much a group that draws rock influences in all of their title tracks but they also tackle other genres in their b-side tracks. I try to avoid saying that dreamcatcher are metal influenced because that can often give the wrong impression to metal heads (being one myself) so rather I'd say they will frequently include commonly used rock and pop-rock elements and they often use dark fantasy concepts in their music videos. Edit: just to add my own recommendation (if you haven't seen them already) I'd like to recommend a fairly new group called "Kiss of Life" they have more of a 90's early 2000's pop and R&B vibe to them and are a very interesting group imo, a 4 member group where every member has a very unique vocal tone that contrasts well with each other. They're also great performers, their live vocals are some of the best of the newer kpop groups.

Another good rock based group is Xdinary Heroes. Unlike other groups, they’re actually a band that plays instruments instead of a boy group. All of their songs are amazing but I think the best place to start would either be Break the Brake, Haircut, or Happy Death Day

the great dreamcatcher... hell yeah. good start (reflecting-) boca was my first dreamcatcher song, and im so glad i've been hooked in, i love them and there alllllllll the good reasons there are. boca is a part 2, out of 3. there's Scream ~ Boca ~ Odd Eye for first time dreamcatcher jumped the budget, and tried their hardest to gain a victory that was so important for dreamcatcher kareer.. yet the victory came way later. as the comment section probebly already mentioned.. the trilogy of songs include Boca is mostly about cyber bully.. how we hurts in social media and internet overall. scream set made of to represent the past. boca set to represent to pressent. odd eye to represent to future. thank you for the reaction, glad to see u liked it ^^

Like people said, if I want to recommend someone who is a big fan of rock or metal, I would recommend maybe Vision first, Good Night, or Endless Night. Boca is great but not a good choice for specific audience, especially with expectations. it's more leaning toward general audiences

If you want most "metal" song by them, it would be Japanese release called No More, otherwise Goodnight for their Korean releases is also a good choice.

absolutely check out "bonvoyage" if you like an epic, grand and kinda nostalgic sounding rock anthem or maybe "deja vu" (my personal favourite single by them) for an epic rock ballad that kinda sounds like evanescence and is an absolute masterpiece

They're my favorite girl group. This is the second part of a trilogy that has a storyline, though, so things might get a bit confusing... You should try Break the Brake and Freaking Bad by Xdinary Heroes, a Korean rock band that sometimes has a metal edge to them (and sometimes does some grunge, and pop punk as well as rock ballads)

Their Japanese releases are much more metal than their Korean releases:) But they have so much variety, and have lots of great B sides too💛 the members are also HILARIOUS, and I ADORE their live stages!!! I love Dreamcatcher!!! There’s a lot of groups these days that have tried out a few harder tracks, and you know why? Because Dreamcatcher made it popular. They’re the first K-pop group in the industry to make rock/metal influence a core part of their identity since debut, and despite being from a small company, going five years before getting a single music show win, and facing consistent backlash from the industry especially in their earlier days, they’re now one of the ONLY still active third generation groups, and just renewed their contracts! Just a truly amazing, inspiring group of girls. They’re also the first K-pop group ever invited to Primavera Sound! It’s really interesting that you started off with Boca, which is arguably one of their more mainstream tracks, so since you liked it so much I think you’ll definitely enjoy what else they have to offer! As a metalhead myself, I absolutely adore them and would love to offer you some recs for future listening: Good Night, What, Deja Vu, Don’t Light My Fire, Mayday, Break the Wall, Odd Eye, Bon Voyage, Propose, Rising. It’s also worth noting that the group actually has seven members-one, Handong, was not present in this MV because she was stuck in China due to covid travel restrictions. Also, if you’re interested in more groups with rock influence, I’d recommend Rolling Quartz! They’re an all-female k-rock band, and actually have a cover of Dreamcatcher’s song Good Night. Some other songs and groups I like that are metal influenced are PinkFantasy’s Poison (they even have a guy doing harsh vocals on it!), Everglow’s First which is VERY cyberpunk with symphonic elements, XOrdinary Heroes is a male k rock band, and you might also like the boy group Ateez as they share producers with Dreamcatcher.

You should check Seo Taiji and Boys, the first k-pop group. I recommend you listen: Must Triumph, Classroom Idea and Anyhow Song. They have a lot of rock influences and Seo Taiji, as soloist, has an nu metal album named Ultramania.

Most rock/metal songs would be thus: Korean: Goodnight (title) Break the wall (b-side) Rising (b-side) Wake up (b-side) Mayday (b-side but has a special clip of them preforming with a band made up of their fandom, insomnia. ) Japanese: their Japanese tracks tend to venture further into the realm of rock and metal due to it being more accepted there. Endless Night No more Don’t light my Fire (this one is probably the slowest out of them all but has a more nightwish or within temptation vibe being it’s leans more into the symphonic metal vibes with a slower singing style. ) All of Dreamcatchers title tracks follow a storyline concept based on the message they are trying to tell. So if you wanna follow along you will need to watch in the correct order. If you don’t mind not following that then you can check out the songs however you wish 😊 Most songs tend to have slower verse parts and a big chorus. So there will always be rock incorporated in some way and they never do it the same twice. They have preformed some of their songs with a live band. You’ll want to look up their concerts from 2020-2021 during the pandemic. This is when they incorporated that aspect because they couldn’t have fans at their concerts. But they don’t always have the band since they are first and foremost a kpop group. But they do sometimes go on a special program that has them preform their song they promoting and use a live band to back them. I’ll look up the name of that show if you’re interested.

Another groups I would highly recommend would be everglow a song like first or la di da are great songs to get introduced. And other groups would be aespa who has a new album coming within a week or so but their song drama is a great start as well.

To answer your question of do they do rock often? Yes. The reason I stan Dreamcatcher is because I also love rock and when they debuted with Chase Me with a rock sound I said “ok if they keep the rock genre I’m a fan” and they did ❤
