Best trick I tell people is look for the CV axel and follow it back to the transmission then you’ll see what the transmission is then you see the engine attached to it then you know you got the right drain plug for the oil. It’s a simple little trick anyone can do

check your owner's manual, modern cars require oil changes every 10k miles or once a year, whichever comes first. *GENERALLY require... check the manual for your own car's recommendation.

first jack the car up and put it on jack stands for safety don't be stupid always pull the dipstick out first and leave the dip stick in the tube like a flag this tells you that the oil has been drained then remove the oil fill cap and put it on the hood latch that way you will always know where to find it and if you close the hood it wont latch reminding you to fill the oil then remove the oil filter do not drain the oil first or if you slip and drop the hot oil filter into the drain pan it wont splash all over you then drain the oil replace the drain plug washer then tighten the drain plug just snug the drainplug and then tighten it just a little bit more do not over tighten! then fill the engine with oil.i always buy a 5 quart jug then put the old oil back in the empty jug get one of those oil drain pans that has a pour spout so you can drain it into the jug properlu you can get them at any tool dealers truck, then start the engine then shut it off that way the oil goes into the oil filter and you get a correct reading check your oil level then put the oil fill cap on and you are done

I have found that they best way to change the fluids is to keep the car running and parked with one wheel on the curb so I can get underneath, playing favorite old song Hey Jude (which ends *seven minutes and six seconds later WHEN the job should be done)... the old oil comes out faster and shoves the makeshift oil catch away, spilling my tenth malt liquor tallboy which was safely behind the tire, within reach, of course, but not close enough to knock over my stinky old ceramic Buddha Bong because if that spills, I would regret it. If you were educated in CA, please note this is NOT good advice and if you are not high, the Hey Jude album version lasts for about ten days and you will truly understand what the word noise means. Let me see your war face!!! nah nah nah nah
