What Brandon did with The Ordinary was so revolutionary, he was the one exposing the real costs to produce good quality skin care and making great products available for almost anyone interested in a good skin. He was a visionary and my heart will always be with The Ordinary at least they downsize the quality. It was expected some competence will come eventually, The Ordinary will be forever emulated but never matched. The other companies coming are just trying to get your money, they don’t really care about the costumers, the proof is all those damaging ingredients in these new lines coming.

Thank you so much for this review! Wayne Goss just did a review on Good Molecules and thought they were better than The Ordinary (he thought the ingredients and prices were better! WTH!!) From what you've researched I think your review is much more accurate. I use, love and will continue to use The Ordinary products. Plus they're Canadian - as am I! :)

When I clicked play on this video the Wayne Goss review of good molecules popped up as an advertisement before this so I am thinking he’s being paid to promote them so it instantly makes his review for me mean nothing. Whether he truly likes them more or not, as soon as you have a labeled “ad” for them and are potentially getting paid for it, it’s a no go from me on your objectivity

Bergamot being toxic is actually untrue. It's great for balancing oily skin. It can help heal scars and cure minor acne while moisturizing. It's commonly used for people with psoriasis. It's not problematic within a serum. It can however make your skin sensitive to sunlight. That's why it got a bad rep. So if you use that Super Peptide you have to use sunscreen too and likely not use it every day.
@neen42
@neen42 4 жыл бұрын
They can remove the phototoxic component as well - I don't know if that was done. However, so us vitamin C, but sunscreen takes care of that. Everyone should be using a high spf sunscreen anyhow - otherwise, why bother with skincare anyway? Yet I have a friend that tans and smokes, refuses to wear sunscreen and wonder why she looks 10 years older than I do...despite a very expensive skincare routine.

GREAT video! Definitely subscribed! These companies that are trying to ride The Ordinary's coattails (like Revolution too as they too added a lot of superfluous fillers and the active ingredients are way down the list) are getting ridiculous but they know the average consumer isn't reading the ingredient list. So people are doing more harm to their skin than they can imagine. So much for trusting companies we know and love. Shame on them. They need to stick to what they know.

The hyaluronic acid product from the GM should be renamed.Glycerin is clearly the key ingredient in that product where Hyaluronic acid is in the Ordinary. However, the GM one may very well be better for ur skin because Glycerin is a small molecule that is able to absorb into the skin's surface where Hyaluronic acid is larger in molecular size and sits on the skins surface which just creates a hydrating cushion that gives the appearance of hydration. They are both humectants, but how i see it is Glycerin is better because is absorbs into the skin and attracts moisture, where as HA needs humidity to be effective. People do not use HA in the summer if ur environment is HOT and DRY. HA will not work for you it will just dry out ur skin. There I would choose and recommend the GM version over the ordinary for that one reason :)

Selina Li Beauty while researching skincare ingredients a while back, I learned that sometimes the damage that harmful ingredients may be causing isn’t immediately visible to the naked eye. In some cases, the damage is taking place deeper within ur skin, or topically but gradually over time; in other cases, the harmful ingredients “allow” the sun to damage ur skin at a higher rate. I’m not a skincare professional and clearly only generalized this info. But figured I’d shed some light, as it may be the reason some ppl haven’t yet noticed adverse effects. Paula’s Choice has a lot of helpful articles (with their sources cited from medical journals, studies, and other research) on their site. That’s where I began my quest to learn more about skincare/ingredients.

Good Molecules is kind of a mixed bag in terms of formulations, since some of their products include essential oils but the ones they do get right honestly are more appealing to me than The Ordinary. I have used the buffet,hylauronic acid, Marula oil and retinol product from the ordinary for over a year. I am not a fan of having to pat everything on gently then not being able to touch your face all day. If you do rub your face at all everything rolls up on your skin and leaves chunks of the ordinary products. I did product trials and found it was definitely the ordinary that had this roll up balling affect. I recently started switching to other products including a fe good molecules products. The good molecules squaline, brightening toner are good! I have found they do not roll up and let you touch your face!

Lidia and Lisa: Timeless is a questionable company. For one, they do not list their business address. They have a PO Box. When it comes to healthcare or cosmetic companies, you wanna buy from brands that list physical address. Timeless Vitamin C gurantees low ph at the time of manufacture. Since their Vit. C formula lacks "Triethanolamine"--a chemical that helps maintain stable/fixated pH level as product ages--Timeless cannot gurantee pH of their product as the product ages. I always wonder how much does pH level increases in their Vitamin C serum within the recommended usage of 3 months. Their other serums Matrixyl, CoQ10, etc. uses aloe vera and hyaluronic acid as vehicle to deliver ingredients to skin. However, we know from chemical formulations and research that novel delivery systems including glycols are needed to deliver peptides and othet beneficial ingredients deep into skin... to reach dermis and not just he superficial layers of skin. Save your money in regards to Timeless. Brands like Estee Lauder may be expensive but they are formulated with good delivery formulas to get ingredients into skin. Olay is another great brand in regards to Vitamin B3. The Ordinary has great ingredients but their formulas tend to be a lot less cosmetically elegant in comparison to Hylamide and Niod line.

Lidia Thompson I have been using Timeless products for over 4 years and LOVE this company and what their products have done for my mature, dry skin. I am a 66 yo skin junkie who has always taken very good care of my skin. I have never had one problem with this company. Sometimes I am amazed that I receive my order within 2 or 3 days. I have probably ordered about 20 times. NEVER a problem. I regularly use the 20% Vitamin C + E + Ferrulic Acid and love it. The company has great discounts for multi- bottle orders, like 30 - 40% off. Around holidays they also have great sales like 50% off over $75. I always order during a sale and get the Vit. C in the Refill bottle which is 4 oz. and then decant into 4 smaller dropper blue glass bottles and put in the fridge. When one empties I take a fresh one out of the fridge. I have never had any oxidize before they’re all gone. But I must say that I slather on the C to face, neck, chest and hands up to my elbows.I also regularly buy the Vit.B5 + Hyaluronic Acid Serum, the Matrixyl Synthe 6 + Hyaluronic Acid Serum and the Coenzyme Q10+ Matrixyl 3000 + Hyaluronic Acid Serum, all in the 4 oz Refill sizes which are good for 2 years. I am also a fan of The Ordinary and use a few products and The Buffet. I cannot say enough good things about Timeless Skincare. Give ‘em a try!

I always heard that as long as you're not allergic, rose water has skin benefits.. same with other plant based extracts also used as fragrances. Like orange extracts can be used to help remove tans and dead skin?

I loved the ordinary at first but now I love good molecules hyaloronic acid more, I find the ordinary more sticky and tacky on my face, I also love naturium products but they are more pricy.😃

Thanks for doing this. I started checking ingredients of Good Molecules and wasn't that impressed. Their eye cream has too much caffeine for me, which can be be super drying and trigger my eczema. I agree the Ordinary has a lot of basic, one note products, but that's what they meant to do. Their company is called DECIEM, and that brand has more complex formulas which I've tried and really liked. They also have a higher end brand called Niod.

I ended up getting Good Molecules because of the fulfillment problems with The Ordinary. I wasn't aware that they had resumed shipping, I had given up after the debacle. I have only been using it for about a week and I can't complain about the products themselves. I got a number of items, including some of the new brightening products. I do like that the serums absorb fairly quickly and are generally good products. I have the Super Peptide Serum, The Overnight Exfoliating Treatment, Niacinamide Serum, and the Everyday Brightening Serum with Hyaluronic Acid. The fragrances are not very strong and for most people, I think they would not mind them especially since they occur at the end of the ingredient list. As long as that concentration is very low, I think it will perform well, but there is definite cause for concern.

How is rose water irritating to the skin? Isn’t it supposed to be very moisturizing and soothing to the skin? There are tons of rose water sprays and such....I don’t get this

I search for this comparison with both brands just for the niacinamide serum, which The ordinary one is always sold out and Good Molecules isn’t. Really happy to know that both serums are great, the only difference is the zinc, which the Good Molecules serum doesn’t have it, but it still has a lot of good ingredients.

I bought Good Mol Niacinamide because Beautylish ran out of the Ordinary. I ended up with buying GM’s Brightening, Oil, Niacinamide and Eye Serum. I reacted so badly. My face now has a lot of bumps which I never experienced with The Ordinary. Anybody watching this who seemed to have purged or had an allergic reaction to GM?

🤔 well I ordered 3 Good Molecules items after getting a recommendation email from Beautylish.. the reviews on their site were good. Should have done the research first not after! Lol.. now I’m scared to try. I watched Wayne Goss’s review first and got excited. But now I’m confused 😑 Also The Ordinary does have an AHA/BHA peeling solution, except it’s a 10 min exfoliating mask not an overnight solution

Thank you for your very detailed report, the side by side comparison was quite helpful. This is the first that I'm hearing about Good Molecules, so I went to their website and noticed there is a much smaller selection than that of The Ordinary. Interesting though that someone from Good Molecules claimed that they will be putting out some products to address hyperpigmentation problems, which is one of my main skin concerns (actually a problem right now). I recently purchased and am using some products from The Ordinary, including their Niacinamide 10%+Zinc and Azelaic Acid. I like the Niacinamide (once I learned the best application method) but I am wary of the Azelaic Acid (for hyperpigmentation mainly), because I'm starting to hear various complaints about breakouts from users--I'm still using it at the moment (I just started) but I'm a little leeryl right now. I'm wondering whether the breakouts are being caused by the Silicones? I realize that Good Molecules appears to use filler ingredients, and I think I'd rather stay away from products with fragrance (except for Rosewater which I've never had a problem with) because my skin is quite sensitive but if they come up with a "bomb" system for clearing up these post pimple dark marks, I'll be checking them out, LOL. Thanks again for your thorough video.

Deciem with The Ordinary under that umbrella, is by far the best I’ve come across in 30 years ! P.S. Does the Good Molecules niacinamide Serum contain the equivalent 10% of vitamin B3 ? I’d be surprised if it did .

I'm new to any of it. Started with the rose hip oil from TO & then bought the niacinamide from GM. Actually have the Buffet (with the copper peptides) on my list of things to buy & was also thinking of adding the hyaluronic acid. Was unsure tho about which brand? This makes me feel like I'll just stick to TO. Tyvm.
