Alone
Season 4
In Alone, ten men are left in solitude, and separated from each other, in the harsh Vancouver Island wilderness. With no camera crews or producers, they have to survive using only what they can stuff into a backpack. They will hunt, build shelters and fend off predators as they face extreme isolation, psychological distress and the terrifying plunge into the unknown.

Jim, you were truly the better of the two of you but wow, when are you two going to grow up? You argue like spoiled, disrespectful brats. I’ve never heard two grown men speak to each other in such childish ways. The name calling alone made you both sound like you were on a playground. I’m sure you’ve heard this before & clearly ignored it but it’s not normal. It’s time to act like grown adults. It takes more to be adult men than surviving in the wilderness. You need to mature in the way you address each other & probably others, too. I doubt you treat other people any better than you do one another which is terrible. Respect yourselves.

History Channel, yall need to give Jim and Ted their own show! There is nothing on TV or youtube that I look forward to watching more than their adventures. They take us on a journey with them. Seriously fun with lots of laughs.

when you just use the mortar and pestle/kelp thing and the weir, you can spend lots of the day inside of your sleeping bag. So you might get by on just 2 lbs of fish per day, and juicing 20 lbs of kelp per day, not losing any body weight.

Not sure, but we do have some American relatives - California and Masticates I believe. Of course the Bairds are a clan / tribe from Scotland so I guess the same last name does not mean a blood relation as far as I know. Still descendants of the same clan though.

Well, it takes guts to make a prediction like that out of the gate, because you might end up having to eat your words. I hope they taste better than slugs ;)

Catch rodents, its alot easier. I grew up there.. eat the vols or use them to catch other animals.. Lift up rocks during low tide, you`ll find crabs to eat. I could catch a few rodents in 24 hours with roots and vegetation, and crab meat. Id like to see a vegan try this.. lol they would be the first to die . If you truly almost starved too death you wouldn't be doing this with joy and glee. Oh by the way there are a few Grizzlies in the north of Vancouver island now, along with aggressive black bears. better be smart and understand northern vancouver island. its very different than other parts of the country.. Some plants can slowly kill you, by starving you to death.. good luck

Lifting up rocks at low tide was the main way we were able to survive for 75 days. We were eating everything we could either find under a rock or scrape off of it. Fish, and ducks we got helped, but it the majority of what sustained us came from under a rock.

the real answers are to juice the kelp and make netting for fishing weirs. make a small seine, a door for the weirs, a dip net. Then you can empty the weir at will, or use it as a holding pen when you've caught too many fish to process right away. Make a harpoon and keep it handy if you do the holding pen thing, cause a seal is likely to try to rob you of your catch and his flesh and blubber will win the clear 1/4 million $ for you.
