These bikes have been firstly introduced as the mod. M-72 being a copy of old Germans BMW R71. This technology has been acquired by us in Russia after the WWII. The motorcycle (yes) was designed for military use but the main purpose of these motorcycles in Russia and the main idea is to use them in the country side. The motorcycle was designed to serve in the deep country side where it was unable to use a car, for small forest roads and for the fields. For farmers and for the country people. With the sidle car this motorcycle was broadly used even in winter time when it is snow and -20, -30 degrees (Celsius). That is why the engine and the transmission are technically tuned to provide a big torque power but the max. speed is relatively low. The motorcycle has never been prepared for highways. When you buy this motorcycle please be prepared that you have to ride very carefully for the first 1500 km. And you have to change all original liquids (incl. oil) just after the first 500 km. The motorcycle will surprise you with small defects and you have to be prepared to fix this or that within these 1500 km. In case the 1500 km are away - and you have fixed everything during this period, - you will enjoy the bike! And it will be extremely reliable. By the way - all these small defects will help you to better understand all technical aspects of your bike. By the way - those bikes are extremely rare if you buy a new one.

Having sat on one once I can say that this military beast is very much its own creature. It isn't a toy. I think Ural should build another, better yet still hands-on tank vehicle, with reverse, for startling wolves. Some things begin with a bluff and some end with one.

What a beautiful classic design. Ural should ditch the side car and offer more stuff in the U.S. like this wonderful simple bike.

The PRIme position bypasses the vacuum fuel tap = petrol flows freely without the engine running. The ON and REServe position requires the engine running for the petrol to flow.
