Same! The toebox looks wider than in the 4.5s, but based on the stoneguard comparison at the end, I'm afraid these will still be narrower than the 4.0s that I loved.

@Run Moore 👋 Matt here! 😁 I was Always in my zero-drop inov-8 235v2! Going back to '12! They stopped making that model. I stocked up in '19/'20! But, after several Merrell Trail Glove 6 disappointments...Recon for a new sneaker had started! After recommending the Altra Lone PEAK 6 to one of my clients...& him loving them; it was now the Trainer's turn! The Superior 5 is definitely leading the charge!

I don't know much about Hey Dudes but they look neato. It was also a fantastic TV show from my youth. Glad you are digging the Altra's.

Are they waterproof?

Depends what you like, I've got these in dark grey/anthracite with some red. They look pretty good

yea we don't like it either, unfortunately we are seeing a rise in price across all Altra shoes. The Torin 4 went from $120 to $150 :( I suppose with the design edits and new technology they are going to charge more. If we could give it to you all for cheaper we would! Just a random thought but it probably doesn't help that the value of the dollar is decreasing as well :(

Are the Superior 4.5 as wide as LP5? Or is there any difference?

@@marekbily8677 very similar. Narrow mid foot with wide open toe box. Huge difference in cushioning

We have been finding these newer Altra models to run a bit short!

We would recommend a 12. Most new Altra models run a half size small, so we recommend sizing up. If you are at the front of the shoe in an 11.5, a 12 will not be too big.

Thanks for watching! The torin luxe is the traditional torin with a unique upper that is different from the traditional torin. Same feel, different look.

Sadly the Racer is a 2-year shoe, but new colors are due out sometime this summer.

I would stay with the half size up of the 4.5 and go with size 9.5.

I use Altra men shoes and they work perfect for me, even the altra women shoes are too narrow for me so I can assure you that the men shoes are wider than the women's. (Just be aware on the size, on women's I am a 10 but on men's I wear 8.5).

Hi Evy, the only Altra models with wide options in the men's shoes are the Lone Peak and Torin, so the Superior only has one width. If the women's is too narrow, try a men's shoe equivalent size.

It is always better to caution on the bigger side for shoes so that you have enough room for swelling. I would say 9.5 is likely the best size if you typically wear a 9 for regular shoes!

Despite being the toughest outsole, the absence of Vibram definitely does add a level of flexibility you can't get with an Olympus.

@@RunMoore but what if I want a shoe with minimal stack height and a sole that can go 300+ miles before being scraped to non-existence? The Olympus is a totally different shoe, with more stack height and less ground feel and I don't like that. Don't get me wrong, I think the maxtrac is good enough, but I'd rather have a slightly stiffer sole (maybe with carbon plate built in?) rather than this. I was about to buy the 4.5 but then I went for the Peregrine 10 because here the trails throw a lot of sharp stuff at you :)

also, doesn't it have the same Quantic midsole that many Lone Peak users complain flattens out prematurely? I'd rather go for the LP5, which now has EGO instead.

@@giovanbattistafichera8439 It does have the Quantic midsole, but has been holding up well from what we have seen so far

For a trail shoe, the tread is not too aggressive, so it can be used as a road and everyday shoe.

Yes, this is the most minimal Altra Trail shoe and is low profile, similar to the Altra Escalante.

It is definitely lighter and more breathable than either the 4 or 4.5 as well as slightly more stretchy and flexible.

Yeah....it's really a Min-trax outsole that one! Here in the PNW with 8.5 months of sog this tread provides minimum traction! Still, in our 3.5 month summer the Superiors, in various iterations, are my favourite trail shoes.

Totally agree. Still can't understand why they don't go with the Vibram Mega-Grip

@The Crazy Amateur Runner Strange but true. My version 4 was super slippery on any wet surface at first and are much less so now.

We unfortunately do not ship internationally.

After fitting many customers in the Superior, I have found they fit true to size (i.e. a man I helped earlier today who wears an 11.5 in Brooks wears an 11.5 in the Superior)

@@RunMoore so another question. Altra superior 5. If I do minimal trails and mostly road and lots of walking. Would the superior be ok for this ? Or should I stay away since it’s a train shoe. You did mention people enjoying the shoe either way. Thanks for the advice

@@jbp48080 Even though it is a trail shoe, the tread is not so aggressive that it can't be used on the roads. It works perfectly well as a hybrid shoe.
