⁠⁠⁠@@rigel2112 To me it seems more like the fact that the conception of prophecies and how they’re supposed to work is very flawed in the West. A true prophecy is supposed to be clear cut with no ambiguity. It should come to pass if it is true. it’s not supposed to be made to fit into anything because of its clarity. The way prophecies are treated is ASOIAF seems to be more akin to the predictions of soothsayers which are full of intentional vagueness and ambiguity so that it may coincidentally “come to pass” or it may not.

I saw people theorize that princess Rhaenys was a skinchanger and is still living a second life through Balerion the cat after she was brutally murdered by Amory Lorch (explaining the one-eared cat's long life and bad temper). Most theories based on works of fiction require a number of assumptions to be true in order for any of the evidence to have legitimacy. That's always been their fallacy. In the end it's always determined by how much the author wants to give away, how much the author wants to deceive, and what the author actually decides to do. Martin gave a ton of clues for R+L=J, but few of the fan theories have that much going for them. Listen for those all-important conditional clauses: "if" and "however." They lead people astray all the time. Alt Shift X used a lot of "if"s in this video :D

This video is also supposed to be commentary on all the ridiculous theories fans have spit up over the years. The comment in the end about the vastness of the supply of source material can be applied to any of them.

It's also interesting how Ser Pounce's close relationship with Tommen Baratheon may complicate his feelings towards the Lannister family. It could be that he is unable to bring himself to usurp the child-King's throne due to their connection. Ser Pounce literally grew up with Tommen. I should also mention that when Tommen refers to the "bad cat", he also mentions that it was scaring/attacking his kittens (I can't remember the direct quote, but I believe it came towards the end of ADWD). This does create some issues with the "bad cat = Balerion" theory.

+Mister Disco Its very common for father cats to attack their kittens especially the older they get because they can become competition. So that Balerian attacks his son is rather normal and also he hates Lannisters and Sir Pounce joined this enemy of his.
