Man that play at 1:22 is so special, because he understood the scouting report and used it to his advantage. Harden drives left to the lane, he has the advantage, Dort knows he's going to initiate contact to avoid a contest at the rim, so he backs off before harden can put his body into him allowing him to go for the clean block. Elite defensive IQ, extremely rare let alone the fact its a G league Rookie doing it 🔒

Just look at how Dort is built, like a linebacker. You could see how much he takes pride in his defense, how unfazed he is and the determination to shut down Harden at every instance.

This series made him known by everyone. I was already impressed on his defense on James Harden when I saw it before. I think that was on January. I remember that I'm one of the first people requesting from this channel to make defensive highlights of him but that was so early that time. He hasn't played a lot of games. Glad to see him getting a lot of recognition now.

People don't realize when you do all that dribbling between the legs you give the defender time to lock on to you.

I think that little while after the Capela trade that the rockets were playing “micro-ball” will always be one of my favorite teams I got to watch live. Was pretty cool seeing them all buy in the way they did and go out there and compete hard enough to be considered legitimate title contenders for a while. One of the more unique teams we’ve seen.

I forgot how fun this OKC roster was. I mostly remember CP3, sophomore Shai, and Schroder but then having rookie Dort, Steven Adams, Baz (who I know wasn’t great overall in OKC), and veteran Gallo. Not a championship level roster by any means, but really fun versatility that would pave the way for this current squad. Fun fun

I just noticed he refuses to go right he had so many opportunities to explode with the right hand. I would say this was the last time we saw James Harden writing this from three years after it was posted he has not been good since he left the Rockets his counter to being stopped going left is to go further left had he sent him into one screen going, right with an In-N-Out or just drove right off his signature cross over he would’ve had many points. No disrespect he is doing a terrific job staying between ball and basket. But he has help behind him which is why James couldn’t drive, as well as the fact unlike most younger players he is very disciplined and does not reach very much. There aren’t too many guys that solid in the league and play straight up without gambling and putting in the effort to fight through screens. Makes you a lot tougher mentally than switching, shows a level of competitiveness on the other end something that is missing from this era. Used to be a few guys on the team simply to stagger star production. This kid will have a long career and earn a great rep if he bleeds this into his next campaigns

Dort never turned his hips defending Harden. Kept Harden in front of him. Harden couldn't do shit. It's incredible how fundamental basketball at the NBA level can result in great performances. Goes to show you how bad defense has become league-wide. I think Harden is pretty overrated, but he is good at making space for himself with his mix of strength and speed. Play defense right, and he's very stoppable.
