I agree. I was blessed to be in attendance at a private event circa 1998 where Ray and a 3 piece combo performed for a very small audience, maybe 75 people. He opened with "I Got A Woman" and was on fire. He never let that energy drop. No Raylettes, just 3 kick ass musicians and Ray performing as if it was their first show. I was transfixed on them the entire time. Breathtakingly good.

like an unearthly rumble that you could feel, windows in the sanctuary broke. It was other-worldly. It left an impression on me that lingered. I've never experienced that in any other church...EVER. In later years it helped me to understand why black music literally overtook the USA in the '50s, '60s and '70s with Jazz, Blues and Rock-n-Roll. It was just phenomenal and makes sense now that 411 is emerging in States that blacks are the Hebrews of Bible. This LIFE we live IS the Creator's show.

Elvis Costello was very mistaken, hence Elvis' music. There has ALWAYS been black music and dance vs. white music/dance in USA. This is truth. Dick Cavett wasn't bad and Ray Charles' voice is not a great black voice but it IS a black voice so it's going to be different from Dick Cavett's. But if you listen to Luther Vandross of Lou Rawls you'll get a more definitive difference.

Of course there IS a difference in singing/speaking voices, just like there is a difference in dance as there IS a difference in the ultimate distinction, LOOKS. I thought it was a little disingenuous of Johnnie Cochran to use that argument at the OJ trial since the whole USA music system is built on the difference between black and white sound, i.e., R&B charts vs. Rock or Country charts, etc. I remember as a child going to a black church where the minister sang. his voice was so deep and loud
