The craziest thing about this film is that it wasn't initially a Saw movie. The script was a booby-trapped house film called The Desperate written by Darren Lynn Bouseman. and after the success of Saw, it was rewritten to include Jigsaw, and he was allowed to direct it.

The needle pit is hands down one of the worst traps in the entire series. That one proves to me you don’t have to go overboard with gore to make your audience squirm. Also major credit to Shawnee smith’s acting in that scene, I can actually feel her pain, extra points because she was pregnant while filming Saw 2. There’s actually quite a few hints hidden in the movie showing that the footage isn’t live. The x marks the spot picture can be seen behind John early in the movie. Definitely enjoying your reactions, looking forward to Saw 3’s reaction

Obi I honestly believe should of lasted longer because he seemed so interesting just with the single line 'Threaten me with a knife, might as well cut me a little'. He would of been GREAT help in the last act of the film. Man big missed opportunity. His character made it into the Saw video game and the video game made him a bigger character. The fact all the dad had to do was listen to jigsaw was crazy and he would’ve got his son back. The needle pit trap even tho it wouldn’t kill you is such an iconic take on needle in a haystack but this time it’s a key in a needle stack just having dirty needles stab it you have each time is awful. @@TheDorkSideTV I think it’s such a weird thing for a 6th film to be so great, but it really is! 🙂 They did a good job on the pacing of its film, making the storylines interesting (while 50% of the story follows the detectives vs Jigsaw, 50% of the story is new about a corrupt health insurance executive), likeable characters, and it just feels a lot more engaging! Both the normal “detective” storyline and the “new trap victim protagonist” stories are both really engaging and don’t feel boring, so that is a strong point too 🙂 Actually among Saw fans, a lot of people consider the 6th film the best after the first original 3.

The Obi moment with the knife reminds me of something that happened to me in high school. I always carried a pocket knife with me because I lived in a dangerous neighborhood. One of my classmates came up to me and threatened to kill me. I pulled out my knife, opened the blade, shoved it into his hand, and put the knife to my throat. I spread my arms and said "Go ahead and kill me. But you better make sure I'm dead, because, if you don't, I WILL kill you." He dropped the knife and ran.

"Oh, yes, there will be blood." Fun Fact: Shawnee Smith, Tobin Bell, and Dina Meyer are the only actors to reprise their roles from Saw (2004). Authentic Battle Damage Fact: Timothy Burd accidentally hit Glenn Plummer's eye after he emerged from the furnace. They had to stop filming for half an hour to make sure Plummer was okay. He can be seen holding his hand to his eye after this occurs. Needle Pit Fact: It took approximately 120,000 syringes to complete the "Needle Pit" trap. It took four days for four people to replace all of the syringe tips with fiber tips for the "Needle Pit" trap. Gelatin and a little water were added to the "Needle Pit" to make the syringes more movable and slippery. Razor Box Fact: The "Razor Box" trap containing the syringe actually has a padlock with a key in it. It can be seen, out of focus, at the top of the screen when Addison (Emmanuelle Vaugier) puts her hands into the trap. The filmmakers deliberately included this as a way of showing that Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) knew the characters would rush in without checking the trap for a simple solution.

When I was little (I don’t know why I was watching this when I was little), this one was my favorite, but as I got older, my love for the first one grew, so even though I like the first one better, this one is definitely a solid sequel. I was so excited to see your reaction to the needle pit, and it did not disappoint! It’s probably the most iconic moment from the whole franchise. None of the traps would be easy, but if you had to rank them, I feel like Obi’s trap would’ve been one of the easiest to escape. Because on the tape, Jigsaw said, “Only the devil can help you out.” And there was a devil drawn on the inside, and he was pointing to a knob that I’m assuming is a water sprinkler (unless I’m wrong). So I just don’t understand why Obi didn’t go for it. Sure, there were flames in the way, but you’re already on fire, my guy. Excited for the next one!

Obi’s trap is definitely one of the more intense because of the fire slowly getting bigger and bigger but as soon as he saw that valve it should been a win. Especially after taunting Xavier about cutting him (he seems like he has a high pain tolerance). Such a brutal death that could’ve been avoided for sure. That needle pit is so hardcore even though it isn’t immediately life threatening. Seeing the needles stick out of her arm was so fucked up hahahah I’m hoping Saw 3 is just as great! I love your reaction. You are pretty much dedicated to the series and i like your reaction to the needle scene you were cringing and so terrifying and you were traumatized during that scene and the ending to the movie was such an amazing twist and he should’ve listen to jigsaw like literally he told him his son was in a very safe place and in the whole entire time he was in a safe which is very smart on his part and the detective should’ve just listened to him and played along, but he paid the ultimate sacrifice by being locked up in the same room that Amanda was in and the shocking twist of it was Amanda was associated with jigsaw which is absolutely insane and i remember watching saw 2 and 1 and I thought both movies are great and both movies are fantastic on there owe right like this movie fabulous for all the right reason and i enjoyed this movie and I enjoy you reacting to it I just want to say thank you Cole for doing this reaction you are a magical genius and you are almost becoming one of my favorite KZfaqr of all time with all of the other KZfaqrs in the conversation and you always find funny new Ways to make us come back for more i just want to say Love you brother i can wait for you until you react to saw 3 you are going to love that one and i hope you had a great Thursday because my day was crappy and one more thing before i go I’m about to tell you a fun fact so the kid who was playing the detective son in saw 2 happens to be erik Knudsen the same guy who plays as Robbie mercer in scream 4 all right Cole see you later bro peace

The Saw movies really makes listening to audio commentaries an watching bonus features. For movies quite rewarding because it gives you insight into how the writers an maybe directors. Because sometimes its the same people that write an direct them . Then sometimes it has writers that just write an directors that just direct them. But it really explains all the hard work that goes into the movies. Because for example non spoiler as always non of the sequels where planned out in advance. So they literally had to go back over everything form the first movie. Its like that through the movie franchise they went movie by movie. Never planning ahead for another movie they had to go what did we do in the other movies. Wich is the complete opposite of Damien Leone starting with Terrifier 2016. When he was writing Terrifier 2016 he was already planning the next at the same time. The same thing with the 2nd movie he was already planning the 3rd. They are seamless because of that planning he did. With the Saw movies they all work seamlessly. Even though they only went to write them when they planned to make them. Because of the hard work an going back over the other movies again. I don't know how you feel about musical type movies. But one of the producers of the Saw made a movie called Repo Man the genetic opera 2008. Its a film by Darren Lynn Bousman. He worked on Saw 2 ,3 an 4 think the likes of Saw but with Oprea so instead of people just getting gutted. They get gutted well the person is singing. I figured bring that movie up because you liked this one .

I would love to check out the bonus features of these movies! I bet they are amazing! And I love that they didn’t realize how big of a deal these movies would become. @@TheDorkSideTV That's the thing with musical type of movies they tend to be singing. About every day boring things but in that movie you have people singing. Well people get mutilated. With all the props to how actually great that movie is and was when I first watched it, on my rewatching I've come to think that they could've done something more in style of the Jigsaw for Erik's tape. In my head-canon, it would be something among the following lines: "Hello, Erik. I want to play a game. Or, rather, I wanted to play a game, but the fact that you are hearing this right now means, that you have already broke the rules. As you did many times in the past. You took shortcuts in your life, crossing those who did you no wrong, but taking shortcuts only makes people one extra step closer to the tomb at a time. And today, by dishonoring the rules of the game, you have reached yours. Game over, Erik. Game over."

I love how as these movies progress it's important to remember previous ones. I love your callbacks to the first one. LOL Is that Mark Wahlberg's cousin? I was glad Amanda was back. I like that you immediately saw Detective Matthews as a jerk. It's hard to empathize when people make poor decisions. haha. I like your interest in John's life, and who he was before this. That was my biggest interest by this film. I do like the feeling of this being a messed up escape room almost. They could have worked together and not had such pain. Your reaction to the needle pit is awesome haha. I love how angry you got at Xavier, and how you turned toward Team jigsaw hahaha. The other people are all the villains. Saw 1 and 2 are my all time favourite, and the only reason i like 1 better is because i love Adam. His trap is one of the most unfair traps in my opinion since he basically didnt have a way out. It was either Lawrence kills him or he rots away, since the key was put there so it goes down the drain on purpose. Anyway, Saw 2 is amazing too and the ”safe place” twist is such an iconic moment!

I mean, if Adam did not snap his saw, he could've got out together with Gordon (or if Gordon would toss him his own saw after choping the leg off). If Adam would have that dawg in him to actually go through and endure the pain. And if the key was not in jeopardy of being able to be permanently lost so easily, then Gordon would not have a shot at the game at all, since he would have to somehow kill a man with an overwhelming advantage of free movement, while being chained to the tube with a saw and a bullet to his name.

Like I said last time, most of the "victims" are the actual villains in these films, and Jigsaw is somewhere between vigilante and antihero. There's only a few participants that are actual victims, don't deserve it. You can't tell me the world isn't a better place without Xavier and that creep Mr. Kenobi. And Det. Matthews... got EXACTLY what he deserved. A crooked cop who plants evidence, and used police brutality. In this movie, Jigsaw is my hero. A crooked cop getting his comeuppance. It was justified. Too bad real life doesn't play out the same. Instead, piece of shxt cops tend to get rewarded with medals and promotions.

Daniel slit Zavier's throat in the same manner that Danny Glover got his throat slit on the first movie. I'm guessing if you just slash the front of the throat and not the side you can survive it? The first Saw is a masterpiece when it comes to tension building and narrative. We don’t have these movies without the first, so we always gotta respect that. Saw 2 did what every perfect sequel does. It gave us more of Jigsaw (the most interesting part of 1 for me) and upped the stakes while keeping it mostly grounded. I wish more franchises would take notes from this…

Eric Matthews is one of the most unlikable characters in the series. Not only is he such a corrupted police officer but he is just a terrible person in general. Dude cheated on his wife with his partner Kerry (the same female officer from the first movie) and is not a good father at all. Also didn't help that he framed all of the people in the Nerve Gas House for crimes they didn't do. I hate that his son Daniel had to suffer for his father's sins but on the bright side, he made it out alive. All Eric had to sit and listen to john talk until the timer was off LOL. Also fun facts: the trap that the chick Addison fell into was not meant for her. That hand trap was actually meant for Gus, the dude who got shot in the eye. According to an early script of Saw II, the hand trap was designed to: "punish the hands that had harmed innocent others when his anger had reached its peak," suggesting that Gus was abusive when enraged and in another version of Gus' instruction tape, it alluded to him: "reaching his hand into the cookie jar for money," implying that he was guilty of embezzlement or theft. Which would kind of explained why he acted so reckless and aggressive in the film. In the original script, Addison's trap was supposed to resemble a waffle iron. Upon trying to grab the antidote, two clamps would have trapped her wrists and slowly heated up. To free herself, she had to press her face against a third hot iron positioned right in front of her. Doing so would have activated a mechanism that released her from the clamps so she could obtain the syringe. Her instruction tape would have said something to the effect of: "having to sacrifice her looks to save her life" due to her being a sex worker/prostitute. That would had been wild to see on film and its sad that they didn't shoot that. Would had been kind of intense to see!

Now you know that even time can't be trusted in the Saw movies. Because it can show events in any order or simultaneously depending. On whose point of view its coming from this is why the Saw movies are like a 4d chess game. This is why John Kramer or Jigsaw is one of the scarier kinds of horror villains. Even more scarier then Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger or Leather Face. They may have the better physical capabilities but they really don't think ahead or plan ahead. But John Kramer or Jigsaw makes up for the lack of physical capabilities. By being super intelligent so he literally and figuratively plans 10 steps ahead. So if he comes at you from any direction all the other directions are already covered. So he will get you no matter what you do because theres no place to run. Its like the old saying goes brains over brawn brains wins every time. Now about the needle pit yeah thats nasty an hard to watch. I mean I can watch everything in Terrifier 2016 an Terrifier 2 an even worse. With no problem but that needle pit thats just not right on so many levels. Also non spoiler for the movie Trick R Treat 2007. You may want to pay attention to that movie like you are the Saw movies. Because all I will say is the writer and director of Trick R Treat 2007. Put the same level of highly detailed planning into it on the same level as John Kramer or Jigsaw. Did all his games in the Saw movies.
