Welcome all new and existing subscribers and visitors! My name is Dot and I usually upload videos on Wednesdays between 9am and 3pm Pacific Time. I occasionally post more frequently as time permits. If you haven't glued the walls together yet, use a candle or bar of soap and rub along the bottom and top of the door and the track. It will help it slide more smoothly! The door is lovely!

You could try rubbing some bar soap or candle wax on the slide for the door to help it move smoothly. That's what I use on life size dresser drawers. Love the door.

Wow Dot!!😍 I'm so excited to see how you are progressing with your work! I love the pocket door absolutely amazing.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 The antique wax does take some time to get to know, but don't get discouraged.. just keep experimenting, and you will get to know it in no time. You can use water with it too so that it's not so heavy, and less is more..lol you can always apply more if you want to go darker. A little goes along way with that stuff. But I really love what you did with the colors and painting the door over the antique wax. If you can find Cinnamon by folk art. That makes an amazing base coat under the brown and lovely tone. The door is wonderful..don't you just love those spindles, they are so versatile. I love them! You can use them for lil thread spools, too. 🥰❤️

Hi Jolene🤗 I can't wait to show the finished wall (when I get it finished. lol ). I really enjoyed that antique wax once I got used to it. I actually put two coats on the door and the second one went on so smoothly. I love that it's water based so can be easily cleaned and diluted. I looked for that cinnamon color at two local craft stores with no luck. I'm sure I can order it. Thank you so much for all your love and encouragement! And inspiration 😘🥰✨

I adore pocket doors ! I’ve never seen them in a dollhouse. Genius! Girl, you are the trendsetter! Pocket doors add such grandeur and are so practical too! You really did an AMAZING job, Engineer Dot. I love the patina of the door and also T he door embellishments. ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️. You inspire me! Also, your own house looks so beautiful, warm and welcoming!❣️

Hi Kathleen 🤗 I was, oddly, trying to think practically for the dolls. 😂 They don't have stairs or toilets in the house, yet I wanted to be sure they had privacy while in the tub- but also saving space. 😂 I hope, hope, hope the wall finishes off the way I've imagined. 🤞🏻Thank you so much for your very kind comment! @@thedollcupboard I almost always remove stairs from my dollhouses so I have more room to decorate, place furniture, etc. I simply think “doll magic” is how they go from one floor to another! ❣️❣️

Hello Dot, I love it, its gorgeous 😍 you've really captured faded elegance with the paint colours, I love pocket doors, I wish we had them over here in the UK, Well done figuring out how to do the sliding action, you can now add miniature engineer to your resume 😁, add a bit of candle wax to the door slots before you glue it all together, it will help it slide easily, Have a lovely weekend, Best wishes from Yorkshire, England 🇬🇧 😊

Thanks my friend. 🤗 The dolls needed some privacy where the bathtub is without a door swinging out in the small room. Hope the wall gets completed the way I'm envisioning 😍✨

What a beautiful door!! And a great idea to make a pocket door! The only downside of that is that the door will be less visible if it's open, but you'll just have to keep it closed so it is seen, 'cuz it's so pretty! ❤

Aw thank you so much🤗. I was much happier after I painted the door. It will be mostly closed because the bathtub will be so close to it. (Plus noise from the nursery, lol ). Gertrude has no modesty, but the other dolls are more self conscious - especially while bathing! 😍✨

Never heard the term pocket door before, just sliding door 😆, so I’ve learnt something new. The door looks great. You’re becoming a real engineer! Looking forward to seeing the wall in situ 😊

What a fun idea to do a pocket door! I love all the detail and the doorknobs are really cool. I also think some beeswax or soap will help it slide better. I have tools you showed and mine were ones I got when taking a Japanese doll making class. ❤

Your home is beautiful!! I knew it would be! 💝. Your door turned out fabulously! I love how you made it look like a door with insets by just making divots in the door! I love the ornate wood pieces! They almost look like they’re fancy hinges, and I love the little ornate pieces you put on the front! You are amazing!

The tools are carving tools . You need to use some candle wax or soap on the door rails for a smooth open and closing. I think the door is beautiful I loved it. You’re doing some really cool techniques. I love them your giving me the confidence to try some new ones too. I’m clipping along on my little house finally figured how to support the second floor and made my first wooden floor too. Working on the large cooking fireplace in the kitchen . Once I get it in some order I will send you pics. Loved the video hope you get your glue ☺️💕💕💕

Hi Grace🤗 are they for carving wood? 😃 Yes I'm heeding everyone's advice and putting wax/soap on the slider before finishing! I did a trial with some nice soap I have- what a difference! Working on staining and cutting all the trims. It's a bit tedious but it's so nice when it all comes together. I'll look forward to seeing your project! 🥰😍✨

This little door has so much character, I love it. The pocket doors in our house all have a pair of rollers that fit inside a track similar to sliding barn doors...sort of. Their weight keeps them snug in their track and moving freely. Looking forward to finding out what you do to get this door installed. I want one! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Karen🤗 I am happy with my door! The mechanism of my real pocket doors did not seem something I could try in mini 🤣 I really wanted to try it in order to save some space. I hadn't considered the lack of weight in the mini door making it more difficult, but you are so right. I highly recommend trying one for your dolls house 😍✨

@@thedollcupboard Thank You, I will! but i need to finish the large American dollshouse first... ha ha However i realy love to find all those little details that can be added as one go! I found some (dead) seashells in the right size, but they are very, very fragile, they would look awesome in the vitrine cabinet i think if i manage to find out how to not crack them whan i put them there, they are north eastern sea clams so they are realy thin as paper but realy cute in the dollshouse (it is the only specimen here that fit in the dollshouse)...
