Great stuff, so cute. My mom made plants for my dollhouse with toothpaste lids for a pot, then she'd use green construction paper and cut some leaves, usually long ones like a snake plant, then proceed to dip each leaf in wax, folded or curved approximately. They can be affixed into the pot by filling it with wet wax...you could colour the wax to make it dark like dirt...using wire and tissue works well for flowers.
@thedollcupboardКүн бұрын
I love these ideas! Spoiler alert- I have been working on doing just these very things. I'm practicing cutting leaves from various material. I read that dipping actual plant leaves in wax will preserve them. Thank you for sharing. I will use these techniques in an upcoming project! 🥰✨

Great job, Dot! Any time I need to make something that is flat that I want to really hold it's shape while it's drying (like a frame), I use a stained glass assembly trick. I put my pieces onto cardboard or foam board, then use sewing pins around the edges to keep them where i put them😉 I still wouldn't have been brave enough to try that octagon, though! Excellent job!!
@thedollcupboardКүн бұрын
Well isn't that just a splendid idea! 🤗 I hope I can get my brain to remember that 🤣 Do you make stained glass? When think about making something, my brain says, how hard can that be? Then my fingers say, really hard! 😂 Thank you so much for your encouragement! 🥰✨
@1finepieceofglass21 сағат бұрын
@@thedollcupboard I started doing stained glass about 20 years ago. Started out with copper foil method, then learned to make my own patterns, then mosaic, then learned leaded. Never got a chance to do hot glass work with a kiln, though. I don't do near as much as I used to, but it's definitely a skill set that I like having in my wheelhouse. 😁

But I’ve ever so grateful you do all of your tutorials and share about your delightful mini world! You are just the best! Oh Kathleen, you are SO SWEET AND KIND to me ❤️❤️❤️❤️ ❤️ Believe me, the way my videos should go is 15 min of mistakes and errors with an outtake of a finished project. LOL. If you were to ask me how I went about cutting those angles I would have no idea what to tell you. I actually feel my brain get stuck with some measuring issues. I just console myself with a "close enough". 😂 Ooh, you're in the forest? Very cool! 99 is pretty hot 🥵 We're near the coast (but in enough to escape constant fog) and mostly in the 70s. 80s is my ideal. Thank you for being such a good friend and spurring me on. Hi Suzanne🤗 It was somewhat fruitless to use the bougainvillea on the frame, especially since there was barely an edge 😂 My approach is often.. "why not?". I like to try things to see how materials behave (or don't) then try them again on other things. 🥰✨

Dot I think the frames were adorable I loved the octagonal one just brillant. See you think out of the box and do these really difficult pieces.I love the little puppy on the tub 💕💕💕💕. The sink came out great .The marks on the walls are from the museum wax or putty you used. I think if you prime the wall and then paint it I should do the trick. You just have to be mindful when hanging up your pictures put the wax on the picture and not the wall. Make sure your fingers are clean of wax too I’ve done a similar mistake . My walls are paper so I’m really stuck. The mirror came out too sweet I love that you use natural things. It is all lovely ,I know Gertrude loves it. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
@thedollcupboardКүн бұрын
Hi Grace! Ya! I do put the wax on the frame vs the wall, not sure what I did there. 🤔 I was putting things up temporarily. The Matte paint and dark color didn't help. I used putty this time and a nail for the mirror but I do need to redo the wall as it looks awful with the marks 🤣 I'm glad I kept it removable. I've started to become more aware of how my sticky, gluey fingers get mess all over my projects. I'm trying to use tweezers more. Try as I might I'm just a messy kind of person🤣 My brain is always 10 steps ahead of my fingers. LOL! I'm having fun trying new things and seeing if my ideas work. 🥰✨
