Imagine the skill needed to understand the fourth dimension enough to build a 4d map in the game not to mention the game itself

The part where you reveal that all the music is from the submissions is pretty cool

I love the music. It's super nice and mysterious. It has a distinct flavour, but it evokes something close to the vibe of Minecraft's music-- just... more alien and a little more foreboding in a couple of the songs. I think it really fits, since... as cool and creative is 4D Miner is, it's hard to escape from the fact that there are creatures you can't see all around you, coming after you from the 4th dimension lol. that's... just inherently scarier than most of the mobs in Minecraft.

Woohoo! Loving the progress of 4D Miner so far. Hopefully multiplayer is available soon. The creativity of the developer and the community is amazing.

Two things: look into the wolfenstein thing, it may prove EXTREMELY useful to help players visualize things, or optimize the game rendering. And two, in a 4D game it's useful to move in 3D, so add a flying mechanic, or submerge the world

Is there a way to snap the rotation in 4D to like 15, 45, 90 degrees?

I’m a bit disappointed that my blender workflow for 4d procedural texture generation wasn’t shown, but seeing all this stuff honestly blows it out of the water! I cannot understate how much I cannot wait to see this game reach its full potential.

For creating the 3D textures that go on the 4D blocks... well, you already have a system for building with voxels. You could have a creative gallery (separate from the survival/exploration game) of 3D canvases/frames in a 4D space. Using color voxels scaled up to block size, you could create and edit textures directly in the engine, using the existing 4D controls to move around and see your 3D texture “from all sides.”

I really hope there’s plans to showcase more of the community content, I’ve seen the stuff on the discord that wasn’t shown, and it is seriously impressive! The 3D volumetric screen is really helpful for understanding 4D too, I hope it gets put in as either an implementation for the 4d glasses or an accessibility option.

The fundamentally hard thing about this game that would make it hard to play is not being able to see ahead or behind you in the W axis. Maybe having an option to display, e.g., 9 screens, showing the surrounding environs in W axis, would improve playability?

This game has so much potential! Well done so far! Looking forward to multiplayer!

I'm now convinced that you are a 4th dimension being on the 3rd dimension with the mission to teach us about the 4th dimension.

I always thought it would be impossible for an object like the TARDIS to be bigger on the outside. But after watching this, I realize the TARDIS was just simply changing the 4D-axis of the viewer to reveal it's larger on the inside. Likewise, the outside of the TARDIS is "disguised" because the entrance is only visible to us on our point on the 4D-axis. Makes me wonder, if you changed the 4D axis, if you'd be able to see the outer shape of the TARDIS.

Man, I'm really into this stuff. This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I'm following you since you started your game and it gets more and more details. I really love it! I think that there is one thing you have to involve in this game: multiplayer. I know that this is gonna be really hard to realize, but multiplayer mode will make this game even more specific and interesting since you will try to think about other players not only as teammates, but also as enemies or even victims. This is gonna encourage people to make interesting 4D traps or challenges. I hope you will read this comment and make multiplayer (and some stuff for this) in near future. Good luck!

this is really cool! ive been wanting to try to do a 4d roguelike, kind of like 5d chess but with a turn based roguelike and without the time sheananigans for the moment imagine two or more different dungeons superpossed to eachother and you can travel trought them at the points were they intersect

When you think about it, 4d Miner is like a parallel to Terraria: Commonly related to Minecraft, is more complex in its physics, but is less complex in its content. Also, I think that the underground biome with the worms and the fungus is SOOOO cool! I'd love to see something like that in the game!

Game theme idea, you are an "inferior" 3d being who hunts/rebels agains 4d creatures. like you shove it to their 4d face And maybe the slice "above and below" you cast a shadow in your slice so the you can see it coming

Klein bottles arent the only surface with one side, the real projective plane also has this property (and is also impossible to embed in 3d without self intersections)

You should try palettizing the render before drawing. I think it would give it a unique look and just look cool. (new favorite upcoming game btw)

Random idea inbound - I wonder if it would be too disorienting if VR support were added- and head movement was used to adjust 4D slice orientation, while mouse control was still used to change camera angle. Or vice versa.

this reminds me of a minecraft mod dimental doors i think is its name but with a hint of lovecratian abstraction i have only found in a few point and click flash games like the submachine series and in the works of mc Esher. and some of the lesser known dr suse peices wich tended to take a bit of a darker tone than the childern's books he is most well kown for.

This game is great the animation really shows how time could really be the fourth dimension.

I look at dimensions as calculus. The best example is taking a 2D shape and add bunch of infinitesimal slices of areas to make up a cube or same for bunch of 1Ds to make a square. I strongly believe in theory you can imagine 4d blocks but, it difficult to be put into practice without more than 1 slice of 3D or strictly mentally computing everything in front of you. Thus, the process of the human brain would have to be well advance in skill to be able to visualize it.

Somebody needs to find all the sus among us in the textures!
