Oh so glad you are attending estate sales now in your new area. Love the painting. You should find out if it has value. The frame alone does. Very nice. Looking forward to more of your videos.

Your lap jointed, gold gilded, leaf cornered picture frame has a very assorted and variety of names. They have been called Adirondack, Black Forest, Rustic, Tramp Art, and who knows what else. They come in many varieties and levels of refinement. They appeared in the Victorian era. They certainly have their roots in German woodcarving. I have spent 50 years trying to figure this one out. A lot of my time wasted, but an obsessed old antiques dealer wanting answers. The Victorian cities were hotter than Hades in the summers. Many inhabitants with financial means built summer homes and cabins in the surrounding wooded areas, which later was to become the suburbs and park systems. The real wealthy built grand hunting lodges in the mountains. They decorated with those items that came from the wood carvers of the Black Forest of Germany, now American immigrants. These pieces not only found their way into rustic settings, but the hearts, eclectic tastes, and decorating styles of many Victorian homes. I think they probably found their way into the first ‘man caves’, manly retreats, and sanctuaries also. I have found a lot of these frames in rural and farming areas that German immigrants settled. Sorry I had to ramble. Thanks for your tolerance and patience.

My husband and I started estate sale shopping over twenty years ago. Almost every item in our house is from an estate sale. We have bought a lot of seasonal decor, furniture, lots of pictures..now we are into buying stuff we need ….like cleaning supplies, garage items etc. We have so so many estate sales that typically they are way cheaper than rummage sales. My last favorite item was a faux black leather blazer style jacket in excellent shape..like new. The sign said clothes one dollar. My husband ask for me how about jackets and coats. The estate sale guy said one dollar. I had to ask too. I looked this jacket on the Real Real and it sixty percent off but still 163.50! I got my sister a beautiful real suede jacket for one dollar . At the next sale after that I got a puffed sleeve navy pea coat, like new..one dollar and a teddy brown coat one dollar. Not every sale if that inexpensive but clothes typically go for a few dollars. I love your old books, the big gold framed art picture, but I loved the little picture the most. I love unknown artists paintings. I wish you come to our part of WV. You just won’t believe prices on the last day. Oh, my husband is into more garage sales, but at one sale the sweater for men was so good I “forced”😂 him to look. I was shocked he got the most beautiful high quality cashmere sweater. So far, I don’t have a cashmere sweater. I have this thing about coats and jackets. I think I have more of those than I do nice clothes. I have bought new white jeans with price 44.99 still on and got for, you guessed it one dollar. I buy jewelry..mostly costume, but have a lot of 925 sterling too. Right now, we are quarantining because my husband is having high risk knee surgery, and Covid is around, although not the real bad one..mostly cold like feelings. Then he had to recover.it is our Saturday date now. We usually spend less than going to a restaurant. Oh, my other find. We needed a dresser to go in our small guest bedroom. My sister paid six hundred for one , and ours is real wood, made great, old , but looks new and was sixty dollars.ni hope you continue to go to estate sales. I must warn you, it is sooo addictive.

Awesome books and the painting and frame are wonderful. We had good luck yesterday at an estate sale. We got a wonderful wood box from a local Garst Bros. Dairy that went out of business many years ago. John and I remember it from when we were very young. Love and blessings Mandy❤️❤️❤️

Oh I love the worn, well loved vintage books🩵Each one has a story all its own. Wish they could talk & tell us their journeys through the centuries! The handwriting inside some of them so kool! The 3 black ones would make perfect decor for October🧡Finding your vintage grove again because the happiness shows on your face😄

You've got to be careful of book covers full of mildew and I saw a lot in this footage. The mildew will spread to other items in your home. When you get the books home, just be sure you liberally spray the cloth covers over with Lysol, or something like it. Kill the mildew.
