What kind of insulation are in the floor & walls? I just love that fact that you have a screen door to the tear drop camper. I haven't seen that on any of the other tear drop campers except Rustic Trails.
@DIYOutdoorLife

Just insulated ceiling. With tight seals, the wall insulation makes little difference, I would like to see hiker offer an insulated floor option.
@shaneshubert1663
@shaneshubert1663 6 ай бұрын
I also have thought about insulation floor option (I'm an electrician at hiker). With the way the vinyl floor is trimmed and laid it would be easy for a DIYer to pull it up, slap down 1" wall foam and cover with 1/4"veneer and vinyl flooring if you don't care about losing a couple inches of head room

Great job on all of these Hiker Trailer Videos. I agree with you that this would seem to be the to go with. Have you ordered one? Would you be OK with this little LP tank and mounting it to the side of the trailer? Would you get it with a water tank?, Heating? What length would you get? Thank you as always for the wonderful job you do on these!
@DIYOutdoorLife
@DIYOutdoorLife Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching, I really would like to get one of these but I have a lot invested in my BW. We’ll see how it goes, I have to convince my better half to own two trailers…. LoL The way they set up the propane, there’s a tank on one side for cooking and a tank on the other side for the heater. I would get 11 pounds for each, so it would actually be more propane storage than my current set up (20#). The propex or Truma furnace options are far more efficient than the dometic and suburban, that same amount of propane would go a lot further. By my calculations, I would have 2 pounds more storage, but it would last almost twice as long as my current set up. I would definitely get the water tank, definitely get heat, probably the 10 foot option, fridge box on the front. The final set up would cost more than my Bushwhacker, but everything is much higher quality and would definitely last a lot longer Thank you for tuning into these videos, they were a lot of fun to make. Stay tuned for the Xtreme off Road, I think I will release that tomorrow.

Those interiors look super spacious! Wasn't sure how I felt about the galleys on these Hikers at first, but it looks like you get a lot more storage space in these vs a typical teardrop?

Very impressive trailer build. I really like the ideas of being able to buy a bare-bones and finish it out the way you like. I'm definitely going to steal the idea of the rear stabilizer Jacks and add to our teardrop. Sure wish I had known about them sooner.

Seems like the perfect design and reasonable price point. Wondering how these trailers hold up after years of use on dirt roads. Swaying back and forth, bumpy roads etc. Lots of videos of Hiker trailers but I haven’t found any long term reviews like 5-10 years.

I have seen a ton of the original Hikers, their build quality a second to none. With that being said, the popularity of these cancers really took off a few years ago . We're gonna have to wait a while before we can see how the lions share holds up. Getting to visit the factory gave me a lot of confidence, they are building these to last .

@@DIYOutdoorLife Thanks for the response. Thats good to know and reassuring. The more I look into other campers/teardrops in this class, the more I keep coming back to the Hiker. The design and maximum use of space just makes sense to me. The price point as well seems reasonable and fair. I’m not in the position to buy a new camper every 5 or so years so I need to make the best choice for my situation. Thanks you for your insight. It is very helpful.

I notice that the galley does not have a cover for when it's rainy. Do you think that it would be a detriment to not have that space under some kind of cover? I'm just beginning to explore these little campers, and it seems like having a covering in the cooking space is a good thing. Thoughts?
@DIYOutdoorLife
@DIYOutdoorLife Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. We talk about it in the Hiker overview video. In my opinion this set up is actually better. The door that covers overhead doesn’t actually provide protection, that water comes right in and it’s kind of a false sense of security. In either case, getting an awning or canopy to cover the galley space is essential.

I'm really new to this whole scene. Never even owned a camper. Can you sit up right inside of that thing with a couch kind of situation? Not a fan of the ones that look like they only have a mattress inside, so when you come in from hiking, you have to track muddy boots on your sleeping area.
@DIYOutdoorLife
@DIYOutdoorLife Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. One of the best parts about Hiker not including a flat mattress, is that it makes you select the mattress that’ll be best for you. There are several brands that include trifold mattresses and ones that fold into couches.

I do applaud this company for keeping their prices so reasonable for such good quality. I wish I enjoyed towing, but alas, I don't. At this point in my life, were I to do solo camping trips, I think I'd opt for a DIY no-build minivan conversion; a used Odyssey or Sienna. One vehicle doing double duty seems easier for one person. Add a canvas tent or screen house, call it good.

I think their pricing is going to pay dividends to their future success. Some of these companies and dealerships went crazy. This is a great question, it's something I'd like to address a lot more on the channel. People can make strong cases when they're looking to advertise the way they do something. In my opinion, it's a complete tossup. Theres definitely pros and cons to each. With wood, It's important to have something that's well built and watertight. it seems like Hiker industries does this very well.
