Armando, Your video sold me on this product when I first saw this video. I've been on the lookout for an addressable lighting product for the TV for the past 5 years. Glad Philips jumped on this and developed a finessed product. It looks spectacular and has elevated the home theatre experience to a whole new level.

Thanks, Armando, for reviewing and highlighting products that the average person can access or purchase. I think so many of us get turned off by KZfaqrs who showcase million dollar rigs, or come at us from exotic locations most couldn’t afford to dream about, and they come across as out of touch. Philips Hue are really good, yes they are expensive but their quality is great, as too is their Eco system

Hmm. So what I’m very interested in doing is installing a drop down ceiling in my living room in a way that it looks more like a frosted glass sky light. Then installing several hue light strips all parallel in the direction of the tv. Interested to see if that’s done when playing a movie with lightning if it would display as that or if it’s a bright shot would it lighten the room as if it was day for some scenes.

Armando, great video. So i emailed philips customer support regarding a setup I'm trying to build, mainly asking about in which cases hue play is more recommended than a hue strip. Also, once you pick the strip, can you teach the hue strip to recognize what is top what is bottom etc, because that would be pretty important running it with a sync box, correct me if I'm wrong please

Just purchased the sync box and lights just having a tough time getting the lights to sync with what’s playing on TV and I have surrounded with receiver as well. It must be something to do with the HDMI output which I’m still trying to figure out. All updates are updated as well.

One reservation I have about the sync box is the pass through with my consoles will I still get 120fps and will there be any latency / lag

Nice Video and one Question about the HUE LAMPS: I experience Banding / Flickeringwhen filming (PAL 50HZ) and Shutter 1/50 with my HUE Lamps when they are around 30-60%, when they are on max Power 100% is much less, also trying a shutter of 1/25 fixes a bit more but does not eliminate it completely, any solution?

Christian S. I’m having the same issue with my Philips Hue bulb and also the Go light! These are considered “budget” items but they’re still pretty expensive in my book. Sucks that I still can’t figure out how to use them in my videos 😭

Hue Go does NOT have amazing battery life my friend. It lasts 3 hrs tops on battery.

So at first I was using the Signe Table Light but then I changed it to the light bar (smaller ones seen on PC) because they come with a mounting solution that has double sided tape to go on TV and work great!

What re your sync settings? I haven’t found the right settings for movie viewing in a dark room yet.

Brian Murray I use Video / Extreme and set brightness to 25% I find that setup works best for me and is less obtrusive. Mind you this is in a pitch black room

Actually it's the complete opposite, it pulls you in even more which is amazing, truly a unique experience that I feel everyone should experience. Like 3D is gimmicky IMO this is not.

@@janulation6115 I have Philips hue TV and Philips hue hub with color lightbulbs and I can say that in my opinion, Philips hue TV is awesome. Everything that lights the room in front of TV is giving a lack of contrast on screen and it is a deviation from the movie. Maybe on the flor but nothing that puts light on-screen cause lack of contrast (remember that this is just my opinion). Also, that doesn't mean that I don't like it it is perfect for party time when music videos are playing on TV.

$230 for a hdmi grabber and zigbee sender - this device should cost no more than $50, it doesn‘t even support Dolby Vision. hard no for me.

I checked it out when it hit the markets and it's completely useless for me, everything I'm watching is already on my smart TV, like KZfaq, Netflix or Amazon prime.

Big mistake. Built-in Smart TV apps have the absolute lowest priority when it comes to getting the latest updates and features. Dedicated devices such as PS4, Xbox One, Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, etc take priority and always get the latest app updates for Netflix, KZfaq, Amazon Prime Video, etc

I always turn off the lights in my room when watching movies , so I could enjoy and concentrate on the show. The same thing in cinema they turn off the lights when the movie about to start. This product may seem to be a good idea until you realize how distracting it is.

Raychard Kho absolutely not, you're comparing ambient lighting to something that works with what's on the display. Have you ever been to Disneyland and rode on Star Tours? It's the same effect, they have lights around the ride to give you an immersive feel. It's truly unbelievable and I'm not just saying this because they're sponsoring this video, I bought an extra one for my upstairs bedroom because it really is that amazing. Very hard to really know what it's like into you experience it.

The play light bars are garbage and not worth it. They are cheap construction with bargain LED's that arent very bright and they probably cost about $5 to make with a massive profit. The hue hub always disconnects and the app is awful to use. The biggest issue is after all the money you pay Philips can't even provide you with a proper mount for the light bars. They give you a stupid disc w/ 3m tape that mounts with a screw onto the back of the light but getting these lights to look nice is all about angle and placement and with the mount they give, you cannot angle or swivel the light at all... It's either straight up or flat across. How hard would it have been to make a mount with a small ball joint that can allow the light to swivel and turn as you need it to give best placement and spread of the light. This is just a money graby Phillips and is a cheap chunky product.
