I'm a fan of hypertherm powermax 125. Amazing in removing worn out excavator bucket bottoms, broken adapters. Piercing multi layers of scabbed on quick fix/repairs. Goes immediately through all hardfacing unlike oxy acetylene. I know it's spendy machine but boy howdy! What a machine!

Metalcutting Lasers here are awesome but unreachable expensive Plasma/OxyAcetylene/HHO are the poor mans "laser" for metal cutting xD

Why do they first cut a round hole, before cutting out the actual shape?

The hole was in the piece that was cut out, if they had cut out the piece first then they would have to put the hole in with a drill, punch, or cut by hand. It was maybe a bolt hole for the cut piece or a lifting lug, anyway it [the hole] was in the design.

Programs cut the radius before the circumference. Woops, What Brandy said. I thought you were asking why it cuts a line before the actual circle.

It’s a finger hole for lifting the piece out immediately after the cut.

The first part of a cut is messy so the program leaves a little pigtail so the intended part has nice edges.
