In "Amelia Edwards Unfrequented Valleys," we venture deeper into the heart of these captivating landscapes, uncovering hidden treasures and rediscovering the charming places Amelia herself described in her historic expedition.
Our adventure begins in the picturesque town of Alleghe, where we saddle up and ride along the Cordevole valley, just as Amelia did. Our destination? The enchanting city of Agordo, vividly depicted in Amelia's writings.
From Agordo, we conquer the challenging Passo Cereda, a breathtaking ascent that leads us into the serene Primiero Valley. Pedaling along a steep cycling path, we make our way to San Martino di Castrozza, a place Amelia herself explored. The journey continues upward as we tackle the iconic Passo Rolle, where awe-inspiring vistas await.
Our descent from Passo Rolle takes us through the picturesque gorge carved by the Travignolo River, a route that follows in Amelia's original path. Now in Val di Fiemme, we venture onward, heading north in the direction of Val di Fassa, with Canazei as our next destination. Here, we ascend the challenging Passo Fedaia, a route that leads to unforgettable views.
Riding downhill from Passo Fedaia, we make our way to the quaint village of Caprile. Along the Livinallongo Valley, we pause in Pieve to share a brief but fascinating story about the legendary Catharina Lanz, adding depth to our journey. Our route then takes us to Arabba, where the final climb of the day awaits us: the short but mighty Campolongo Pass.
As daylight wanes, we decide to conclude the day's ride by descending to our resting place, the welcoming Ustaria Posta. Here, we'll find comfort, warmth, and a good night's rest as we prepare for the next leg of our adventure.
