Video Essay Part 1. In this China vlog about living in Beijing as a foreigner, I am out on a sunny Beijing day exploring a beautiful Chinese Park and reflecting on why China is feared by the USA-is it because China has developed so much, achieved it in a peaceful way, and can showcase what it has achieved to others-so much so that people in the West might ask REAL questions and how?

This was an ‘essay’ approach to something I feel passionately about - we can not afford to be sleep walked into any more wars, but it feels like it is the mood that is in the air in western countries… and yet, we have an example in China, where it doesn’t have to always be the default position…!

After living in China for a while, I have another perspective on understanding how the world works. "Democracy" countries can be bought and "Authoritarian" countries are not for sale.
@arthurlincoln9093
@arthurlincoln9093 2 ай бұрын
So does that mean authoritarian countries like China can buy democracies? We know China is engaged in brazen spying on the west and Chinese dissidents even those who left China after the Tianamen Square Massacre in 1989.A good example of this is Yan Xiong who left China to get to America where he joined the US army and much later tried to run for Congress. The FBI told him he was still being monitored by China's Ministry of State Security 40 years later and that it wanted to disrupt his political campaign by any means. So you seem to be admitting a truth that needs to be thoroughly countered in the west by all means possible and that can only involve rooting out spies and propagandists like this Scot.

(15:35) Will they ever learn? Don't hold your breath. This morning a retired Taiwanese general analyzed the bombs that the US shipped to Israel to massacre the Palestinians. So far the US has shipped to Israel 1,800 x 2,000 lb. bombs, plus 1,700 x 500 lb. bombs. For comparison purposes: one hand-grenade contains 0.5 lb of explosive. The big bombs are designed to destroy the underground tunnels and bunkers in Gaza, plus whatever is above them. There are over one million Palestinians corralled into a small area of about 64 sq. miles in Gaza. Do the math yourself. The US has its hands dripping with Palestinian blood in the genocide at Gaza.

Because greed is human nature, think about it in other people's shoes, if you are a rich person, will you be willing to give out your pocket money to help others? Even though you don't even know him? What is different about China is that the CCP promised the Chinese people that it would lead them to prosperity and if they could not do that, the CCP would have no need to exist.

The biggest difference between China and USA lies in their different economic models. In order to live and to prosper, the economic model that China uses is based on the hard work and ingenuity of its people, and on trade and peaceful cooperation with other countries. This model not only allows the Chinese to live and to prosper, but it also allows China to help other countries to live and to prosper. It is the model used by civilized people in a society. On the other hand, the economic model that USA uses in order to live and to prosper is based on stealing the wealth of other countries, using brute force (military power) and other devious means such as lies, cheats, blackmailing, sanctions, coercion, smears and even assassinations, to carry out its robberies. It is the model of a barbaric gang of thieves and murderers. Though this model made USA a very prosperous country, it also led to the impoverishment of its victim countries and to the deaths of tens of millions of people. It is also the model that the other western countries have adopted since the early years of the 16th centuries when Spain and Portugal sent their armed thugs to the South and Central America in order to steal gold and silver that belonged to the people of these regions. What the western countries call “colonialism” is in fact the act of stealing the wealth of the non-western countries. But, nowadays, as a result of the rise of the non-western countries in all fields, including the military, the economy and the technology, it is becoming increasingly difficult for USA and the other western countries to steal the wealth of the non-western countries. So, the western countries are now at a crossroad. They must choose to either renounce being gangs of thieves and murderers and join the community of civilised countries or face extinction.

American Republican Democracy was never meant to be static, stagnant, unchanging. As a political means of enlightened government "of the people" and started as an experimental government, it was also meant to be "for the people" which means it has to morph with the times to fit the needs of the people. However, it has failed to do this and has often been repressively conservative (eg freeing slaves, emancipating women, women rights to vote, universal health care for all as a human right (without good health, how can any nation have happiness for its people as another human right? Think about its Constitution that its people should have the right to happiness). The U.S. talks a good talk but has failed in carrying out the good fight for justice across all parts of society while concentrating in only enriching the wealthy as though this is enshrined in its Constitution (it isn't). So, it has remained stagnated in its 300 years of existence, resting much on its laurels as though the past was the best in any decade while China has been metamorphosizing and changing, albeit slowly but taking each small step forward at a time - which is why it succeeds in its forward planning for the country. in bringing a higher standard of living for its people. and suddenly, the sleeping rabbit in the race finds that the slow moving tortoise is ahead and in panicking, decides to use the "Tonya Harding Method" in trying to break the legs of the tortoise up ahead - which has foreseen this and has built in automated bio-engineered prosthetic legs - just in case. The U,.S, would do better if it wakes up to itself and start to build up its own basic and fundamental assets again - by looking after its own people, education, infrastructure and social reforms, and be less focused in individualistic selfishness that cater only to the very few minority - who do not make up a whole nation, by the way.

To be honest I'm not so optimistic about China's system. For sure it's better than that of the USA. But I think we all should have a healthy dose of scepticism. Having false confidence is probably the worst thing, worse than false hope. What the US and west did in the past 80 years is they built a modern superstition called liberal democracy. When actually under disguise it is monarchy 2.0. China's system works, for now. But it relies a lot on the people, especially the leaders. Luckily both are good today. The history of China has gone up and down many times. Good thing we're currently in an upswing. Let's push civilization ahead as far as possible.

In fact, the governance of a country, whether democratic or non-democratic, is ultimately a matter of the individual. The system can guarantee that the state system does not die, but it cannot guarantee the well-being of the people. An incompetent leader is a nightmare under any mechanism

@@user-cc9pi2ro4m whether a state is democratic depends on the definition of "democratic". Without a precise and objective definition any argument is pointless. Just like arguing something is "pure purple" without defining what purple is. However, apart from the academic definitions, real world manipulation techniques are quite practical. What I'm saying is, experience so far says, no system is really stable. Dictatorship, monarchy, democracy or anarchy. The influence of key figures still play a big role in the outcome. Iain simply have too much time to reflect on everything he observed. It is a kind of dilemma in a good way. Democracy without substance or foundation would lead to disaster outcome. Social democracy, vernacular democracy, secular democracy, money democracy and moral democracy, all evolves follows time. today America democracy has almost no foundation besides money. Whoever's follows the same democracy had the same outcome Infront our eyes. The time; When too much drugs, drugs being legalized. When too many thievery, it becomes petty crime When too many homosexual, it becomes rainbow education. When too many imported Muslim, it becomes a Muslim country and you becomes minority. When being green without substance, you get people sitting on mid road. When EU follow American democracy they start to lost sanity. The main problem is not an external threat to USA. Quote : USA has changed a lot since its founding days. This change is the problem, not China or anybody else. Historian said : America was great because America was good (Christian morals). When America ceases to be good (moral), America ceases to be trusted, to be good.
