Us Germans are obsessed with bread. I moved to the UK in 2007 and met a lot of Germans there. Every single one of them told me the one thing they missed most was German bread. And I totally agree. We are not huge fans of white bread or toast, we prefer sour dough bread (and Laugenbrötchen - lye rolls which are illegal in the US) and bakeries are literally around every corner. Bakeries are also among the only places that are allowed to open on sundays (together with petrol stations). We are also obsessed with pork, I don't think any other country has so many recipes for preparing pork. Currywurst is our staple fast food (together with an increasing taste for Döner Kebab). You can not visit Germany and not try Currywurst, that would be sacrilege! 😉Like visiting the US and never trying Dunkin Donuts or visiting Canada without trying Tim Hortons. 5:43 That is a BRATWURST, typically garnished with German mustard (which is hot). Elsass (in German) or Alsace (in French) is a region in eastern France, that has changed ownership quite often between France and Germany. Especially around the time of the world wars it flipped a few times. Today it belongs to France, but a lot of people speak German (or a "frenchified" version of it). Several very delicious dishes come from that region. Like the mentioned "Flammkuchen" (tarte flambee) or the "Lothringer Nudelauflauf", which is tagliatelle with minced meat in a red wine sauce and than gratinated with cheese (one of my absolute all time favorites).

Not Peanut flavored chips but corn puff snack aka Cheetos - very popular here. The peanut butter is not American brand but many products are labeled and marketed as American style. The last one was from a Bio brand of that supermarket chain. Bio means organic. In Germany white aspergus is far more common than green aspergus. Typically served with ham and Dutch sauce (hollandaise sauce).

too good to go is an amazing app to prevent food waste. Restaurants and shops put up their left overs shortly before they close for the day and you can look for what you want to get and what is available. Yes, you have to pay for the food but it is a lot cheaper than the regular price. Sometimes when I visit my BFF and we are too lazy to make breakfast, we order some on the app from one of the fancy hotels in the area and for approx. 10 Euros/person you get enough food from their breakfast buffet that you can have a fancy breakfast without all the work. Yes, you can only pick up the food at around 11am but when I'm on vacation I don't care how late I get my breakfast because I like to sleep in.

No you have to pay for the stuff from "Too good to go", but it's half the price. They usually sell it around 1-2 hours before the store closes. And an advice: Don't ever buy the cooled microwaved Currywurst-version. It's disgusting. Buy a fresh one. And not at the cheapest greek fast food corner, buy it from a german street food car or restaurant or little store. German bread is heavier because we bake a lot of rye bread, which others don't. It is also not so airy and made of sourdoug.

Too good to go is a great app. You have to pay. Many shops, bakeries and restaurants got several different "sizes" of magic bags to choose from. for example a small one may cost you 3-5€, medium 8-10€, large 15€. the employees will pack you an assortment of stuff that would be thrown away otherwise because of regulations. I bought I think a bag of lindt chocolade für 12€ and had premium chocolate in it worth 30+€. so its worth it. I also did regularly use it to buy from a local bakery a bag, most of the time it had a loaf of bread and some pasteries for around 6€. One time I even got 2 different pieces of cake^^.

About the "magic bag" you need to pay for it but WAY less what they usually cost. The app to it and the idea behind it is that no food goes to waste. The following is just based of videos i saw but i saw some americans do the "dumpster dive" for leftovers (i mean not only food but everything). In germany you wont get the chance to do so. For example supermarkets often have these dumpsters hidden behind fences and stuff. So alot of food supermarkets arent allowed to sell anymore but are normally totally fine to eat at the same day goes to waste. Its a shame and over the app / these apps there is a chance to get stuff way cheaper. But besides that apps i have to say some supermarkets (not all what is a shame after all) give the leftovers to so called "die Tafel" which is an organisation giving out food to homeless ppl or ppl in dire need. You find them in all major citys and the ppl working for it doin it mostly voluntarily. But after all we have a big problem with food which goes to waste.... What i hope is that more supermarkets and stores get the idea behind these apps so more ppl get the chance for a meal a day and stuff like that. If a company writes America on its product, it should offer the customer that this is a product that is similar to its American counterpart. But all of this without all the substances banned in the EU that America is allowed to consume because the USA has no interest in bringing healthy food onto the market. That means too much sugar, too much fat, too many toxins or additives. And what is offered is healthy and original and is far too expensive for the “normal” American. So if you buy gray bread here, for example, which is inherently healthier than white bread, there are countless different ways of producing it. Sourdough, with without grains, which flour and so on. P.S. I would never pay 2-3 euros for a little salad like that when I could make salad for a whole family or for 2-3 days for the same money.

Flips are amazing. But I wouldnt call them chips with peanutflavor. Flips have the same category but different flavoir and substance plus peanut. As a partysnack on the table is it stunning.

There was just too much junk food shown. They didn't show what really German food was all about. for example, Nuremberg bratwursts. No other European country has as many types of sausage as Germany. The same goes for bread.

The good to go app is free, the packages do cost a little but are comparatively cheap to what you'd pay if eating at the place. Sadly, where I am and even in the next city, the app isn't of much use, as there's but one place in the whole town that might be near.

With you loving sparkling water you'll feel right at home in Germany. It's the standard water usually to be served and if you want one without carbonation you gotta say "Stilles Wasser" which means still water.

You can't do it wrong when eating street food like Currywurst and Doener Kebap.

A lot of footage from the City Trier, was quite suprised but I feel like she has not found the small little details yet when you are looking for good "Döner" Kebap you have to look out for the meat on the spit if it looks like mass produced and is too clean cut, better look for a different one. Also if there is not much meat left its also not the best sign. Bakery in Germany is a MUST, Currywurst is really tasty but dont get confused its not actual curry sauce, its ketchup with curry spice in it (and as a topping as well) If you fear diabities consider start drinking tea especially from the tea plant: Camellia sinensis. Bread in Germany is not really that suggary.
