I live about an hours drive from Mount Panorama... The track is actually a two way public road on non race days. I have driven around it (in both directions) many times. It is strictly speed limited and police monitored. He is right about the elevation changes... it is a lot steeper than it looks on TV. Even at low speeds, it is quite confronting in places. They also race sidecar outfits and motorcycles on it.... There is no other racetrack quite like it.

Mark Larkam, former driver, is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to Supercars. The great thing is he knows so much but he conveys it in such an entertaining way. Supercars thought it was a good idea to fire him.........that didn't last long. The public was in such an uproar that I think he was signed up again just a few weeks later.

It's wierd that he pretended not to know the word dude. It is extremely common here. A hoon is someone who drives a road car without respect for road rules. Burnouts , racing, that kinda bizzo

To be honest Im an Aussie who grew up in public school in the 80$ and I don't know the actual meaning of it. It was super common in the 90s and we called each other dude. But I still have little clue of the words original meaning or origin

DW's face into the chase is awesome. Bearing in mind Darrell Waltrip drove some very fast cars in the 80s. The old school Nascars were faster than the current ones!

Hey Squirrel did you know that race cam was first developed by channel 7 down here giving the live pictures from inside the car while the drivers talked to the commentators during the race giving a run down on how the car was performing.

Mark Larkam and Neil Crompton, both former race drivers and now commentators, are a massive part of what makes supercars so good to watch. They're good at it and their comedy is top shelf.

We used to get Nascar racing on TV in New Zealand in the 1970s and '80s, I think I saw 3 or 4 races before stopping watching it, it just bored me to tears seeing them going in a circle hour after hour and every track looked the same, when they advertised Indianapolis as the best of the lot I gave it a chance, but it was more of the same boring stuff going around a big round-about. I enjoyed the Ozzie races and Bathurst was the highlight of the year when it came to motor racing.

Has any Aussie told you that you could be Mark Brandon Reads "Chopper" twin brother? Chopper was a notorious criminal in Australia that was so famous they made a movie about him. I was his bodyguard when he travelled around Australia doing his stand up shows.

I live not far from Bathurst, and I've driven around the circuit at both day and night. I cant tell you the first time you take the dipper at night makes you pucker up as the road disappears and all you can see is the night sky.

The one thing to note (as with most road tracks) is all you can basically see for most of the lap, is concrete on both sides. And there are multiple blind crests and corners. One of the best tracks in the World.

NASCAR is left turn, left turn, left turn and again left turn. Bathurst is a multitude of left's and rights with a huge Hump, a roller coaster ride down and a baby straight. If you have 8 hours to spare on a October day, then this is the place to be. I wonder what Darrell said under his breath, he didn't say on camera. 👍😀

Look at early 70s Bathurst. Especially the pits. They drove street cars to race, brought them on car trailers.....its awesome, REAL racing. New sub

Hi squirrel ol mate, Another Bathurst video you should have a Sticky beak at Is Matt McGrath Bathurst 41st to 3rd in 3 laps , In an Aussie built Xy falcon GTHO It's an older Video but from inside the car Is amazing 👍 P.s Bathurst is roughly 3 hrs drive inland (west) From steak and kidney (Sydney ) NSW.

We Aussies love our V8 supercars, it's those weird circular NASCAR track racing that we don't understand hehe. Your driver's don't do well over here and our race drivers don't do well over there in circle tracks. It was only ever good for us if it was Elvis or Tom Cruise 😁

You see that is what it is like when you can not see what is around the next corner or where the next corner even is and you are traveling at over 160km's per hour. Those oval races in the US are awesome, but try driving here with the elevation, the blind corners and exits and trying to navigate the other cars on the track.

@@SquirrelRocks I’ve been a back passenger at 240km in a Holden L34 Torana, but I know even if someone drives a little over it’s a little scary, in the drivers seat it’s much safer physiologically speaking. Bathurst Straight just about 300km for our Supercars Series. Have a nice day mate🇦🇺
