I was born and raised in Sydney, but my Perth-born wife convinced me to relocate to Perth because she said it was the best place anywhere to bring up a young family, which we had just started. She was 100% correct. There's something to love about so many places in Australia, but WA is special. But sshh, don't tell everyone, or they'll all move here and ruin it for everyone else.

I am the same & will consider moving there when I sort my education out - WA Uni will accept me as a transfer I hope. It was hard to get used to the slower life but just planned better like getting petrol on the way home after 6pm.

I'm in Perth. I wear shorts and bare feet or sandals year round, with maybe a cardigan in winter. Warm to hot summers (30C today) and cool (16C avg) wet winters, no snow or ice. World's best climate IMHO. Great beaches (1.5Km from my house), little congestion, clean, neat, safe. Only 3.3hrs away from Bali, 4.5hrs from Singapore. And well away from danger. It’s always nice to see Perth through the eyes of another. I often take for granted how beautiful our city and the state of Western Australia is. Sandgroper born and bred. Really is a big country town. We were also fortunate(although some say unfortunate) that for the first 2 years of Covid we lived life as normal apart from travel restrictions. Lol always a bed at mine if you guys want to come visit
@utha2665

Yeah, we were the butt of some not very tasteful jokes around that time, but we were quite comfortable living a fairly normal life with very few lockdowns and mask events. Unlike Victoria that had all the protests. Had they just locked down properly in the first place, they would have had a shorter lockdown and much more freedom in the long run. But I did have a laugh when Clive Palmer tried to get into WA and the Premier said no way. Palmer took i to the high court and lost, he can stay out as far as I'm concerned.

I do not understand the people who say we were “unfortunate” during COVID. Which part of having almost NO lockdown, NO COVID cases, living a completely normal existence without masks, going to concerts, restaurants, bars, (not to mention being able to go running AND buy a kebab 😂) was bad? WA were absolutely blessed with a responsible, proactive Gov who saved countless lives (and people’s mental health) through their actions. You couldn’t travel interstate during COVID? My Dad retired from the Air Force to here, Perth. I remember getting off a plane from Canberra (previous posting) into a depth of beige landscape. Various and many shades of brown - caramel, wheat, vanilla, beige, mushroom,, camel. A Friend came to get us from Perth Airport, to take us to their country town (Mum, sister, me, and 4mth old sister, Dad and brother driving across the Nullarbor), a huntsman came out of uncle Eric’s car sun visor, while driving at 100 kmph & I lost my shit. Told off for opening the car door before car had stopped. Beige and a sage green. Deep green and unexpected colours. I am a bona fide sandgroper (25 yrs to be called one, 40 yrs now). It is a long way to anywhere else, we like it that way, and is a GORGEOUS place to live.

I'm a Collie local!! Have been here for 12 years now, grew up in nearby town (down the hill) on a farm and love Collie so much, originally moved here for the cheaper rent as a Disability Pensioner and never want to leave. For a small town, we have quite a lot!! We're not far from largest regional area of Bunbury and still a comfortable distance to Perth. I just miss being closer to the coast and really miss the cool sea breezes that I grew up with. It has grown so much as a town in the 12 years I've been here and turning into an amazing tourist town. Our dams, lakes (the most unique blue water loved by TikTok and Instagramers) and National Forrests area amazing!! Not to forget our new Hiking and Mountain Biking tracks, Biggest Dam mural in I think Southern Hemisphere (don't quote me on that but something like that) and our Amazing Wildflower (seasonal) and Mural Trails. Plus the most amazing campgrounds! Not bad for a mining town!!

@@carolw1624 the whole south west is beautiful. Personally I like Honeymoon Pool but it seems too cold for most people, but then there is Minningup pool where it is actually quite warm, thats where I went today. The walks around Collie are marvellous, last year i walked from the main drag to Minningup pool and back in the middle of winter, it was cold and it bucketed down the whole time, by the time we got to the Pool we were drenched. I’ve pretty much done all the walks around Collie, I just love it. A few years ago we went to Wellington dam when it was overflowing it was fantastic. My second best place in WA is Turquoise Bay near Exmouth, it such a delight to go out to mid calf length and see the snapper and fish swimming around your legs, its just amazing.

Perth is the cleanest city in Australia by a long way. Its something I have noticed but my partner is a flight attendant of several years and she agrees after spending considerable time in every city in the country. It is just a fact. Australia has the largest amount of gold mine reserves on earth and the vast majority of it is in Western Australia, along with a plethora of other minerals. WA also has lots of natural gas too. It is a very lucky place to be.

Yaaaay!! Thank you so much for looking at WA! We are the most isolated capital city in the world, and also the sunniest capital city in the world. It’s closer to travel to Indonesia or Singapore from Perth than it is to any other city in Aus. We get very ignored by the rest of the country because we’re so far away. But there’s beauty in that isolation. We have 50% of Aus’s native flora and fauna, and our state has everything from tropics, desert, mountain, Mediterranean, very dramatic southern coastline (with sand so white it’s like snow and squeaks under your feet). I’m Freo (Fremantle - Perth’s port city) born. I’ve lived all over the world - Kenya, Switzerland, France - and travelled extensively (every continent except Antarctica), also lived in Sydney - and there is something special about WA. Watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean at one of our amazing beaches (which often times you have all to yourself!) - enjoying a glass of wine or beer - watching the dolphins, black swans, galahs, cockatoos, rainbow lorikeets etc… there’s nothing like it 🥰

Born overseas, grew up in Sydney & moved to Perth over 30 years ago. I came with a mass influx from the Eastern States in the early 1990's. The Eastern States has a lot to offer, but Perth has the right balance of so many things that makes living here, the best, as far as I'm concerned. It's a city but doesn't have the crazy fast pace of stress normally associated with city life. It's kind of where country meets city from my perspective. You still have all the modern conveniences but can easily access farm produce. People are friendly which you don't expect in a city environment. If you love the outdoors lifestyle, especially for raising kids, then this State is optimal. It really is the best kept secret.

But would love to, so thanks for reacting to this vid, it has inspired me to do some research into our next trip to oz 🙂

I lived in Perth for 12 years and absolutely loved it. Only cam back to Adelaide because of aging parents. I still, to this day, miss the weather in Perth especially in winter! It's so lovely and so much to do. The state itself is HUGE! The same flying time to fly from Perth to Broome as it is Perth to Adelaide and you're still in the same state when going to Broome.

I want for the waves at Scarborough and Trigg's to be the same as they were in the 50's and 60's. An added bonus would be for the Snake Pit to still be there. There was nothing like surfing 3 to 4 metre waves. The sand bar is now right on the shore, the waves are lot smaller and Trigg's is no longer an island.

Born in Perth and always have lived here. Not overcrowded with people and the city is great. The beaches here are some of the best. If your really wanted to come for a holiday your probably better of going down south to some place like Margaret River, there are lots of things to see and do down there. 1 thing I do have to say is that here in Perth we have Adventure World and compared to America, Adventure World isn't much but I personally find it better than Luna Park in Sydney.

As someone who lives in Perth (well, Rockingham actually, which is about 37 mins south of Perth), I consider myself very lucky. It's a beautiful city. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else. King's Park is huge and overlooks the city on a hill top. The ANZAC war memorial featured in the video is here, as is the huge Botanic Gardens. If you head West from the mainland, you have Rottnest Island which was featured. Stunning place to visit. If you head East, you have the Darling Scarp/Range of hills of natural bushland and forest. We have many National Parks around Perth and in the South-West of West Australia. Head south past Rockingham/Mandurah/Bunbury towards Busselton and Dunsborough you have fabulous wine country. The landscape is full of natural forests, magnificent coastlines (Cape Naturaliste), underground caves to explore (Ngilgi/Mammoth/Jewel/Lake/Calgardup). Head North of Perth you'll come to the Pinnacles, ancient limestone formations that are millions of years old. Check it out... and you definitely have to come here one day.

Presented by CSR for victims of torture…… ironic considering their role in the mesothelioma Wittenoom tragedy…..clean up your messes before spending $ glorifying your company, by all means help victims of any kind…..anonymously would be the classy way after the dark and gruesome sword of Damocles situation for every person who ever worked or lived in Wittenoom. The “Wittenoom children”are dying now, those aged 55-70 who spent time, for one 5 year old it was a mere year…..yet his children who cared for him throughout this gruesome, painful and dreadful disease-and future grandchildren , all robbed of their future….the many nieces , nephews, brothers, sisters, friends and sadly, his elderly parents …..shame on csr. In spite of compensations happening, the amount is always an insult to the people who lose their loved ones and their future…..why doesn’t the fine fit the crime for big business

Kayaking on the Swan River last weekend, snorkelling on Rotto (Rottnest Island, that little island that appeared in the video with Perth in the distance) tomorrow. Might even get a selfie with a Quokka. 37 degrees Celsius (nearly 100 F) the last four days as we start Autumn (Fall), so no need for a wet suit. Yeah Perth is pretty great when you think about it. We're as far from Sydney as Moscow is from London. The most isolated capital city in the world is the place to live.

Travelers go to Sydney and Melbourne and skip Perth, but those that come to Perth never go home! Cleanest city in the world and the Chinese want it! in Perth you could wear a white business shirt for a month and the collar still wouldn't be dirty. Here is the list: 1) a bullet train from Perth to all the other cities in the state, 2) more international bands/art/museum pieces/cultural displays/artists putting on events/shows, 3) reliable public transport 4) diversify the state portfolio so that it's not so reliant on buggering up the beautiful things everyone lives here for

3:46 if this is the thing you're referring to that you wanna know more about, this is the Perth Bell Tower. It's a massive tower in Perth City near the riverbank (somewhere) that plays host to several levels of smaller bells and a singular large bell nearer to the top. I believe the telescope is on the balcony about halfway up, at the top of the rusted brown metal things. The Bell tower works on a perfectly functional clock, and if the city's not too busy or loud the chimes can be heard from a fair way away, especially considering it's in the city. Seeing the bells up close during a school excursion when I was little was amazing, I'm honestly not sure if they do tours commercially but if they do absolutely go there. It's beautiful, seeing the bells and all the ropes and machinery that make them ring, all surrounded by the landscape of the area.

Actually it's one of the smallest cities, the quietest and the least amount of people. But has 2 rivers running through the city, the beach is 15min drive away. You can drive 30mins in 3 directions and get rural suburbia spots. The actual suburban area is like 50mins to the city in each way. Its really easy to get around. And most of all the lowest prices to buy a house in Australia.
