Some context for that last highlight Zac. That was the last game of NRL Lockyer played in his final season. Match was a semi-final from memory. Brisbane led 12-6 until the 70th minute when Lockyer suffered a fractured cheekbone. Refusing to come off, he played on and then the Dragons levelled the game 12-all with 7 minutes to go in regular time (80 minute games). In the second minute of ‘golden point extra time’ Lockyer nailed that field goal which sent the Broncos deeper into the finals but which was also his final act on field as his broken cheekbone ruled him out injured for the remainder of the season. Absolute legend of Rugby League.

1 = fullback, Zac, 6 = five eighth. He started his career as a fullback. That was his best position. The bronco's suffered from a five eigth dilemma after Kevvie Walters retired. The coach (Wayne Bennett) Tried several solution, all of them proved unacceptable. Finally he broke the golden rule (Never weaken a strength to strengthen a weakness) This is a basic rule that we have in rugby league that has held us in good stead since time in memorium. However, Five eigth is the more vital role in attack, and so Wayne ended up asking Darren would he fill the role. Darren accepted the responsibility because it is what the team needed more. He ended up spending the rest of his career there. So, you could in truth say that he was a fabricated five eigth. but that would be over simplyfing it. He was the worlds greatest fullback, and then he was the worlds best five eigth (at that time). He also was, (as your introduction instructed) the captain of the Bronco's the captain of the Queensland team and the captain of the Australian team, and he could have held onto those posts as long as he wanted them, so trusted was he. Time brings all of us to the end of our career.

he was the best full back in the world ( No.1 on the jersey) at the time, as he got a little older he transitioned to 5/8 (No.6 on the jersey) and became the best 5/8 in the world.

As a bench rookie he was an obvious five eighth. He ended up playing fullback, and became the best fullback in the world. He later transitioned to five eighth, and became the best five eighth in the world. Fullback is #1 and five eighth is #6.

Lockyer’s greatness is measured by the fact he is top 5 all time in 2 different positions. Fullback (number 1) and five-eighth (number 6)

Darren Lockyer is the GOAT IMO. Not everyone agrees. However, nobody would be able to deny he is the most clutch player of all time. At the back end of games, you could rely on Locky to get the job done. As for winningest, St George won 11 premierships in a row in the 50s-60s, so anyone there for the bulk of that really (John Raper, Graheme Langlands, Norm Provan etc.). For modern day players, Locky would be up there. 4 premierships. I think the most would be in the last 40 years or so would be Glenn Lazarus who got 6 premierships with 3 different teams.

And how's this for co-incidence. I grew up in Brisbane and I'm a Brisbane Broncos Fan. I also lived in Denver for several years, went to college there. Was born in Texas... So... I'm also a big Denver Bronco's fan. Crazy fans there. Go John Elway (I was there 86 - 89). People just assume I go for those two because they are both Broncos, but that's not the case - LOL.

No. 1 is Full back, often the fastest guy on the field - the free safety if you like, always the deepest when a kick (in general play, i.e. the 5th and last) is expected from the opposition, has free reign to 'roam' in both defending and attacking, i.e. can be positioned anywhere on the field. Full backs often lose their speed as they get older, speed being very important, so (if) they have good game management skills (and they often do, but not always) they may slot into a different position that does not require as much speed but can still use their other skills. No.6, the 5/8 (pronounced Five Eighth) is often one of those positions. No. 6 and No.7 (Halfback) are the half's (they are part of the backs), they typically position themselves towards the centre of the field (amongst the big forwards) and direct the general play for the attacking side, do they spread it wide, do they pass it back to the big guys in the middle (the 'power' plays if you like), do they switch play from the left side of the field to the right side, etc. The Five Eight and Halfbacks are the closest we have to a quarterback, not exact, but closer than other positions. We don't have a single position that mimics a quarterback entirely, but the halves are the closest. The half back (No. 7) is almost always the smallest guy on the field. Backs and forwards - Backs (Jersey numbers 1 - 7) are the faster more nimble players (like: WR, RB, QB, DB, CB, Outside Linebacker, SS, FS). The Forwards (Jersey numbers 8 - 13) are the Lineman and inside linebackers.

Actually the 9 (the hooker) is usually the smallest, because during a scrum, they were usually in the middle being held up by the forwards so he can hook the ball out to the back of the scrum with his feet. The 9 is usually also the dummy half, ie the person who picks up the ball when the tackled player plays the ball back

Cooper Cronk won 6 trophies from 8 grand finals but Billy Slater and Cameron smith are both up there as well …looks up Melbourne storm …they dominated the late 2000s in grand finals from 06 to 09 then the salary cap scandal in 2010 the from 2012 they won again and made finals ever year since then won in 2020

@@RealFansSports actually I corrected myself above after he left the storm he won 2 more so it’s actually 6 trophies from 8 grand finals all three were at the Melbourne storm for a veryyy long time together until Billy retired and Cooper moved to the Sydney roosters which as a storm fan hurt a lot cameron was loyal and stayed till he retired winning a premiership in his last game

Really like the content and how you actually care enough to learn more about this game then just the initial rules but I find it hard to watch with the terrible choppy video you need to change some settings around on your recording program.

Btw in rugby league there's a hall of fame, like most sports. But there's also a level above. Kinda what you would refer to as your Mt Rushmore except it's an actual Honour and Accolade. (Immortality) in rugby league is granted to the greatest players of all time. A single person is selected every 10 or so years from over 100+ years of league. Up until the 2010s there were only 8 Immortals. Now they've ruined it in my opinion by selecting multiple at a time. Still to this day though, there are only 13 Immortals of rugby league.

Lockyer is one of my favourites, so yeah, I wouldn't imagine that you could go too far wrong with him. His speciality was just chiming into the backline and ghosting through the oppositions defence like it was non existent, but of course it did exist, he just had a knack of doing that. He also had a super boot on him, could kick the ball miles. Here is a video I think you might like. Yeah unfortunately it’s the problem with using the laptop I’m using to record videos. Some are better than others. I did do a full purge of my laptop last week so hopefully that fixes some problems, but come December I should have a new laptop or a PC and the quality will be 1000x better.

I would suggest that you react to the video and record it, so that your reaction remains true. but then download the video, and put the downloaded version over your review version, this should get rid of all the glitches. Whwn I say that, what I mean is, you have a spot on the screen where the youtube video is displayed, just fit your windows player in that spot and it all should be fine.

We will get there sooner than later when the quality is top tier! I have a couple other ideas that I will try as well after these 5 other videos are done being uploaded
