I saw americans twisting the nose at spanish,italian,romanian or greek foods,declaring them ,,weird and colourless'' If you want them happy you need to put in some titanium dioxide,diesel fuel ,cereals with 10% rat hair and poop and other colorfull stuff you can find around the Cernobil reactor,then double the quantity with sugar,and they will congratulate the chef😄

@angeladormer6659
@angeladormer6659 Ай бұрын
@pathopewell1814 No, you're not a terrible cook. I always use Yorkshire chef Brian Turner's recipe. Get a ramekin and measure equal quantities of plain flour, milk, and eggs plus one pinch of salt. Put the eggs and salt into a tall jug and whisk together, then add flour and whisk again. This is what puts the air into the mix. Then, slowly whisk the milk into the mix. The resulting batter should look like runny cream. Put it into the lowest shelf of the fridge, for as long as you can until you want to cook them. Heat duck or goose fat in your cooking tin, I use a muffin tin. The amount of fat should be a quarter of a teaspoon to each hole. Heat fat at 180C, 425F until smoking. Quickly pour a small amount (half fill tin), of batter quickly into fat, it should bubble. Once all the batter is in the tin and cook in the middle of the oven at previous heat for 15-20 mins. They should be well risen and golden brown. Honestly, it is the best recipe, my sister has even made it with self raising flour.

Yorkshire puddings easy to make, cheap and go with almost anything; with onion gravy as a starter, make a large one and fill with stew, as a dessert fill with syrup or even better maple syrup. 1.6 cups all purpose flour 3 eggs 0.63pt milk pinch of salt oil that has a high smoke point Put flour and salt in a bowl Stir in the eggs one at a time. Then whisk in the milk until it has the consistency that will stick to the back of a spoon. Chill in fridge for at least 30 mins preferably overnight Heat oven to 425F In a 12 hole muffin tin (if you want the small version) add 4 tbs of the oil. Then put the tin in the oven for at least 5 mins or until the oil is smoking (the heat of the oil is critical). Ladle the batter mixture in the muffin tins filling to about half way. Then bake for about 30 mins until risen and golden brown. Eat and savour

@@Wien1938 Yet, from a dietary point of vue, in the UK, you've got it right: in France, we say: "In the morning, eat like a king, at lunch, eat like a prince and in the evening, eat like a pauper". And you do as we say but not as we do ... When I was living in London, at first I was staying with a lovely middle-aged couple and my landlady would serve me sturdy breakfasts. That was highly appreciated as I was a student on a shoestring budget and that kept me going until the early evening. The most surprising to me was when she served, among other things, the previous evening's leftover mashed potatoes ... that I ate, of course, and with appetite (when in Rome, do as the Romans was the lesson of the day) :o) Good memories! But, sadly, then - in the late '70's-early '80's, when all the Brits were slender, I saw the rise of the ghastly US fast food junk joints ... and how popular they quickly became ... and today the European country with the highest rate of obesity ... :o( The good news is that I've just heard of a place here in Paris where a Brit' snack bar has opened, that makes your delicious specialties. I can't wait to go there to grab a shepherd's pie and a few scones ...

Pudding originally meant a sausage it comes from french boudin which was essentially black pudding. Black pudding is made by mixing blood, oats and spices into an intestine like a sausage, you then boil it. This method of boiling something in a outer casing became known as a pudding. So eventually deserts that were made by boiling a batter in a bag became known as puddings (think christmas pudding) and eventually it was mainly assosiated with deserts. The word crossed the pond and at some point it ended up only referring to mousse deserts. The word boudin originates from Latin "botellus" which means small intestine.

tyler, you have to remember, alot of our tradition stuff, bangers and mash, steak and kindey pies, using the offal, pasties, stews, and soups, came from, one the indistrial revolution, more more modern was the 2 world wars, where food was rationed, so people learned to make food go along way, but be very hearty and filling, as we are an island, and the germans, tried to sink the ship bringing food, everything went to the war effort, ladies worked in the factories, men when to war, troops had to be fed as well as families, the women who worked in the factories, had no soap, to get the grease out of their hair or under there finger nails, there was no clothes, they repaired clothes, you you have 1 egg a week per person, 2oz sugar, 2 ounzes of butter, people would save, ration tickets, club together, so people could get married, or to help those who's house were lost to the bombs, we learned how to make things go along way, hence the type of food, fish was not rationed, and fruit and vegetables were not rationed,

It's pronounce "Yorkshir", we're not Hobbits 🤣 2:32 Pudding is anything that starts as a liquid, these do because they're baked in those dishes, Yorkshire Puddings are pure comfort food, with roast beef/lamb and a generous helping of gravy they're delicious, the gravy is the whole reason they're made in that cup shape, you're supposed to fill them with gravy and they somewhat soak it up. On their own the closest taste would maybe be a croissant. 3:24 Yes, like I said, it starts as a liquid batter, the same as a pancake does. 4:03 Roast potatoes, parsnips/carrots, garden peas and GRAVY, lots of gravy. Typical "Sunday Roast" fare. 7:46 Pretty sure both Redcurrants and Blackcurrents are banned in the US because they're very easy to grow and can easily grow wild so I think the authorities see them as an invasive species but blackcurrant might just be my favourite fruit flavour. 8:42 Crumpets are what you *mistakenly* call "English Muffins", they are NOT muffins, a muffin is like a small cake. 14:22 That's pronounced "Passtay", pasties as you pronounced them are what strippers put on to cover their nipples.

Yorkshire Pudding is made with basically the same ingredients as pancake. It's commonly ate with Roast Dinners, usually beef but personally, I like them with any roast dinner. The optional sauces tend to depend on the meat, so pork goes well with Apple Sauce, lamb goes well with mint sauce... but I always like to put a bit of mint sauce on the roast potatoes for any meat. The "British Burrito" thing is basically a roast dinner wrapped in a Yorkshire Pudding. One thing for Yorkshire Pudding, it needs something to make it moist, usually in roast dinner, that'd be the gravy. A good yorkshire pudding has a thick crust but almost hollow inside, primarily on the sides.

The American myth that English/British food is bad came about during WWII. American troops stationed here didn't realise that food was rationed for Brits during the war, and the blandness of the fare on offer was mistaken for traditional food. Rationing continued into the 1950's and post-war travelers during this time would return to America, and the myth would gain a little more strength. Nowadays in Britain, you can eat yourself around the world from the comfort of your own home with a decent home delivery app!

Yorkshire pudding is a savoury batter made from plain flour, eggs and milk. It is the same batter as a pancake. It is similar to a Dutch baby, but savoury and cooked in the oven not on the stove. Usually served with a roast. Another version is toad in the hole which is sausages cooked in the batter.

Stop say “I know” because you really don’t. Crumpets and English Muffins aren’t the same and the type of bacon you get in the US is also readily available in the UK and is known as Streaky Bacon. It’s always been available and whether you choose Streaky or Back Bacon is completely down to personal choice as is whether you buy smoked or unsmoked. Pasty is pronounced pan-stay not paste-tee. The presumption in the UK and probably throughout Europe, is that if you’re having either bread or toast it’ll be buttered. A chip butty is a buttered roll or bread with hot chips as the filling. You can add whichever condiments you choose but the butter melting into the hot chips and the bread just adds to the flavour. To most in Europe (I believe) the rarity of bread or toast being buttered in the US is very strange. Bread and butter make perfect companions.

Hey Tyler. A chip Butty is absolutly delicious. We basically make a sandwith with a tea cake thats filled with a mountain of hot chips we get at the Chippie or Fish and Chip shop to you, and sprinkle with salt and Malt Vinegar. Forget nutrition, it's just hot, yummy and delicious. Takes me back to my childhood memories. We would go to the local Chippie after school and buy chip butties and have such a great time with our mates. We would sit along the banks of the River Aire and talk, eat and hang out with our mates. When I think of British food I tend to think of the fresh produce we have. Strawberries, raspberries, apples, asparagus, carrots, broccoli, potatoes and meats like Kentish or Welsh lamb along with beef, pork and chicken. Those things are not uniquely British necessarily but they are part of our food culture. The variety of cheeses produced here are up there with French cheese too. Some dishes not mentioned are things like steak pie and beef wellington.

Hey Tyler hunni we do have crisps sandwiches and chip sandwiches here in the UK. I think you got a bit confused between the two because of the names lol I personally like cheese and onion crisps with ham between two slices of buttered bread, or ready salted crisps on their own. But that doesn't beat a lovely chip, (fries) roll or butty with some salt and vinegar. All are such good comfort food. Oh and when it comes to stuffed Yorkshire pudding, mine is normally stuffed with roast beef or roast chicken with a wee bit of gravy, some people add veg or roast potatoes to it then as well, you then roll it up and chomp on them, so delicious. Or you can use the gravy as a dipping sauce. You should really try them hunni you mouth will love you forever.

Yes butties are indeed a popular snack. A butty is a sandwich made with butter, spread on each slice of bread. A chip butty is best made with thick cut straight chips, not the skinny French fry type you get from McDonalds. Yes and Crisp Butties are also real. We like ours with a savoury spread such as a fish paste (our favourite is Sardiine and Tomato paste which we buy from Sainsburys), married up with several layers of Ready Salted (original) flavour crisps. The crunch is lovely when you bite into it.

Traditional British food is winter food. Pasta and rice dishes are great in the sunshine of the Med but on a cold, wet, dark wintry day in the UK you need stodgy meat, veg, mash and gravy on your plate to warm your bones. Italian and French grub just doesn't cut the Old English mustard in our climate.

I was looking for non-typical (US Midwest) cheap meals. I started making yorkshire puddings. Add gravy or powdered sugar for a snackie. Also add meat and veg for a full meal. My kids love them and both have learned the recipe by heart. Taste - very much like dinner rolls but more eggy. Puddings for brits are (I think) a food made of ingredients mixed together and then cooked. It would be like US peeps talking casseroles - no real rules, often savory but not exclusively. Please correct if I'm wrong. Red current sauce would be like a slightly sweeter cranberry sauce. Cranberries are native to the Americas. Crumpets are English muffins cooked evenly on both sides. Crumpets are usually only browned on one side.

I think a lot of the confusion here is that American baked beans are typically in a sweet barbecue sauce, which explains their confusion about us eating them with everything. When I went to college I would look forward to my lunchtime pasty (pronounced pas-tee not paste-e), imagine a chilly winter and you bite into a slightly salty/butter coated pastry containing freshly heated steak and potato comfort food ideally packaged to eat on the go (almost wrong to eat it on a plate). There are cheap and tacky knock-off versions, but get yourself a genuine well prepared and fresh pasty and you have a filling and tasty meal (ok, I know this sounded like an advert, but I was born in Devon so what do you expect). Fish and Chips are great but somewhat expensive - for a full meal it would be about four times the cost of the equivalent pasty meal. Marmite does need to be sparing - you possibly like salt on food but would you eat a spoonful on its own ? I would have expected a Devon cream tea to be near the top, and whilst we take it for granted, if you want a luxury meal component, then how about clotted cream. The hidden truth that you might not have realised, is the favourite British foods vary with the regions, and tastes vary just like our accents.

In Yorkshire they traditionally serve the yorkshire pudding before the main roast. Usually plate sized with masses of gravy. This was so that a voracious appetite was quenched and the more expensive meat roast ingredients could be reduced. Crumpets are the one's that are holey on the top surface and are delicious served hot with butter and jam which melts into the holes. Mmmmm. English muffins are smaller and have flat surfaces top and bottom (cut in half and buttered on the two inner sides also served warm. Love talking about food.🥰
