You gotta try the Cerveza Blanca wheat beer by San Mig. It comes in single 12oz beige cans at most 7-11's, depending on the day of the week. Its about 85-90 PHP, but one of the BEST beers I've ever had. Good video. Red Horse is great value, and no headache like some of those strong American beers. Put some ice cubes in your glass like a real Filipino :) Cheers!

Nope. I always hated that. When given the choice, I drank warm beer instead of watering it down with ice cubes. Well, to each his own.

San Mig Light isn't low alcohol, if that's what you were thinking, it's a lower carb beer. I find it crisp and refreshing - it's worth a try.

When in the Guiuan area of Eastern Samar. I only drink Red Horse. I buy it where I live in San Diego but now it is brewed in Hong Kong. Overseas shipments

Canadian expat here,Living in Philippines for past year. Most favourite beer is Red Horse, 6.8%ABV locally. Just came back from a short trip to Bangkok, and I totally agree with you, the Leo and Chang beers just don't taste great. I'm used to the Canadian lagers from Molson and Labatts, and enjoy the real Mexican bottles of Corona lager. Another good beer you need to try is San Miguel Super Dry, found mainly at 7-11 here in Philippines.

I pickled my liver too much here. And that Red Horse was the culprit. I find it odd that you've been in the country so long and haven't tried their beers. San Miguel products pretty much are the only beers you can find. I wonder how they monopolized the market. There used to be Asia Brewing Company which made "Beer Na Beer", but I haven't seen that in years. Anyways, be careful with that cheap beer. I overindulged and now can't drink anymore for health reasons. And I feel great. Cheers.

You'll feel good after 5-6 bottles of red horse. I'm much older now so I only drink to the point when I get a good feeling. I don't overdo it anymore 😅

Hard to beat a cold Red Horse from the chiller - warm beer is just not an option ! & putting ice in beer is sacrilege ! Chicharon has to be fresh, if old it tastes horrendous, but Bro - that piece youv'e eaten looks like 'Bulaklak' which is fried pigs intestine ! an acquired taste.

In 1974, when I was in The Navy, on liberty in Olongapo City, I liked to drink (a lot of) San Miguel, but I won't be doing any drinking, when I "semi-retire" in Davao City 4/2024, as I stopped drinking 25 years ago; I just didn't see the benefit in alcohol anymore.

I don't know how many truckloads of San Miguel I drank in my Navy days, never tried Red Horse but I remember it getting popular. San Miguel needs to have the proper atmosphere to taste good!! You know what I mean.

Recently, I was in the hospital for over a week due to being diagnosed with fatty liver disease. I was on a cocktail of medicines fed intravenously for the entire stay. I finally quit for good because I wanted to live. I haven't felt this good and lucid for years. I have become very productive and ambitious as a result. Cheers to both of us being sober. Although, I just started. A friend of mine here met his end coincidentally around the time I was in the hospital. And the lead singer of the band, Smash Mouth, around that time as well. All because of alcohol. I took it all as a sign or a warning.

@@ARedMotorcycle in January 2022 I was 60, 6’2” and 240. I started eating low carb diet + ate one 2,000 calorie meal over 4 hours and fasted 20 + I started walking and worked up to 8 miles every other day = October 2022, I lost 50 lbs, had best blood test results ever and got off 7 medications. I no longer live to eat, I eat to live. I wish you the best.

Seems like all of us older guys have all quit drinking, the guys that kept on drinking like they were still on liberty are all dead, well pickled., but dead. I quit about 15 years ago, now if only I could lose about 100 lbs!!

I had no trouble finding San Miguel and San Miguel Light in normal size bottles. That 8% alcohol on the Red Horse is an estimate! LOL

@@PinoyZo1This is a myth. Red horse is between 7% and 8% and is all the same. The story about the bottles of "stronger" Red Horse came from older slightly different bottles being refilled. It's just part of the normal wash and refill recycling of the bottles. As the old bottles become more and more rare this story about the contents being special arose but it's exactly the same beer in all the bottles.

San Mig beer is great, light, pale pilsen and red horse. However i prefer Tiger Crystal or Tiger Black, Singapore beer, though available in 7/11 in Philippines. All beer has got to be ice cold in the Philippines for me.

Haha. You did a beer tasting video which included drinking out the bottle. You should try Southwest Michigan craft IPAs and learn why some beer demands to be drank from a glass.

Taste/flavor (much like styling) is a very subjective thing. A few months ago I was in Cebu and tried a chilled Red Horse for the first time and was not on board with the flavor like you are, just did not sit well on my palate. After that last trip I learned about craft/micro brewing in PH and there's a place in Cebu which makes their own IPA style beer (I hope to discover this place on my next visit). Back here in the states, "popular brand" domestic beers are not my jam, but IPAs are (Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, Ballast Point, etc). Hoppy & hazy, alcohol content can be 5.5% to 8+% for the strong stuff. Enjoy your Red Horse, I'll raise a chilled Boston Lager Octoberfest in your honor counsel 😎 🍻

The Red Horse Beer we get in Thailand is never any good because it's too old. Some beers don't keep more than about three months, then they become skunked. The San Miguel beer we get here seems to have the same problem.

I had the same problem in the Philippines. 3 out of 4 bottles were skunked. I think the issue is extended storage outside in the sun and hot warehouses. San Miguel was always worse than Red Horse.

Beer in Thailand was not to my liking at all. Never tried Red Horse there but tried the local Chaing and Leo and did not like.

be warned : Beers + Chicaron/Grilled Pork Liempo/Shrimp/Grilled Beef = Stroke ! ,, the casualty in the Philippines is very high , bacause of the hot climate and lots of drunkard friends who drink like there is no tomorrow, which make drinking so much fun i recommend dosage : 3 glass of water for every glass of beer , for an hour. 2 bottles per night for 3 times a week will be fine

Really you never tried pork skins in the States? Red Horse is just disguised malt liquor beer which is available in the States as well. I do agree with you about European beers are the best in the world for taste and proof.

I quit alcohol a month ago due to fatty liver disease. I'm lucky to be alive. I was almost two years old when you stopped drinking. 😆 That's impressive. It's not worth it.

USA has a terrible taste in general Beer. But you have some excellent smaller brands. Visited Arizona (in July! bur it was a "DRY Heat man!" 😂) and I found one Beer that was Petfection!! Voodoo Ranger! But PH Beer is adequate.

Hah lol, I'm so sorry but that "chicharon" looks to me like an attempt to make a home-cooked "chicharon bituka" (not really the stomach but the fat membrane holding the intestines). It is not as crispy, nor will it even closely taste as good as the common "chicharon bulaklak" (pork skin and fat) even if a real expert makes it, so I don't know why there are still a few who sell them. Anyway, there are some other beers from SMC and AB, and maybe a few smaller companies but are not widely sold, Gold Eagle beer and "Beer na Beer" seems to be available still in Mindanao. I would recommend for you to try the "Engkanto" beer by Engkanto Brewery, available online. The company did win some international awards for beer making like the World Beer Awards.

I prefer for beer to be poured at 32 degrees F into a glass chilled in the freezer. Your beers looked like they were at or near room temperature…🤮🤣

Sorry but I will not give any credence to opinions on Beer from a man that is drinking warm beer in the Philippines and doesn't like chicharon which is deep fried pork rinds, which are generally regarded as one of the most delicious snacks on the planet. Oh and San Mig Light is not a light beer in the US sense. It's a low carb beer and is one of the best beers in Asia.

Same , but not really, i just tempered the quantity so that i wont feel buzzed. used a shot glass and the drank 1 shot per 30-45 minutes then wash it down with chilled water , while relaxing on my hobbies, dont drink the filipino "tagay" round robin way,, it will really wreck your health and be a candidate for stroke, also avoid oily meat foods with the beer, i do it with vegetable or fish salads so far I feel great for 20 years now, and dont intend to change my methods of enjoying beers best of health, cheers mate !
