About Sheepdog Response:
Sheepdog Response was founded by Green Beret, Special Forces, Sniper, and former top 5 UFC Middleweight, Tim Kennedy. Tim was also the co-star of Hunting Hitler on the History Channel, and more recently, Hard To Kill, on the Discovery Channel.
People face threats of violence every day, ranging from large-scale terrorism to one-on-one assaults. Most people are unprepared, unequipped, and untrained to respond effectively. This weakness in the flock allows the wolves to attack with great ease and success.
The answer is not more laws. The wolves don’t follow them. We must give the good guys the tools they need to effectively respond to violence. The more Sheepdogs we can train to be truly ready to respond to a mass shooting, terrorist attack, violent mugging or home invasion, the better the chances are that the bad guys will get what they deserve and the good guys will survive. Most people sign up for martial arts or weapons training expecting to learn realistic self-defense, and few get it…
We have developed a curriculum that addresses the skills you need to successfully respond to threats

Great to hear mate. I would recommend having her spar e.g. in a jiu jitsu gym. Seeing the techniques is one thing, but actually applying them to a resisting opponent is entirely diffferent

It is great you are showing her some of these techniques, but I would really encourage you guys to find a bjj gym. My wife is abut the size of yours, but just 5" taller. I am #215 5'10", so while I may not have a issue following an instructional video there are often times a good instructor can show her how she will need to tweak it on a larger opponent. There is also the stress inoculation that happens when you roll consistently. just like with street fight videos the guy that only knows moves will default to just winging punches vs the guy that fights a lot whether on the street or in the gym can better manage the stress. My last bit of advice if you cant afford a gym (you really owe it to her, & yourself to make sacrifices if you can) is to find some online or digital curriculum, and starting with defense work through it systematically, and then roll together to simulate the stress of a fight. Start slow, & step it up as skill increases. Sheepdog Response has some, but for a gal her size The Gracie University Women Empowered is great, as is the Gracie Combatives which would work extremely well for both of you. Last resort use KZfaq, but try to find fundamentals vs just attacks. Rumor has it the Gracie Combatives, & Women Empowered videos are online as torrent files as absolutely last resort. Not a fan of stealing intellectual property as these guys put a lot of work into it, but if we are talking survival do what needs to be done, and when your finances improve buy their products.

We did this kinda of stretch for baseball. Dangerous for the body. Go slow when practicing on someone as you can cause permanent damage to the rotator cuff.

It’s not a stretch, that’s a submission to rip someone’s arm off

I only took jujitsu for a little while but I love this move. Worst case scenario is they can't punch you in the face anymore. I'm just curious why it's not used in MMA anymore. We never see an americana finishanyone

My experience is that it’s a really good noob-crusher submission because of how easily it can be applied if you let it and don’t know the counter, which it literally just shooting your arm straight above your head. Why nobody even attempts it in the ufc i don’t know though, probably because everyone there is tough as nails and would rather overstretch their joints to escape than tap.

I think best option from top mount in a real fight situation is striking. No need for submission.
@harvestblades
@harvestblades 4 жыл бұрын
from mount yes striking can finish the job quickly, but the benefit of bjj is you don't have to escalate the fight to control or win it. Especially in our lawsuit society or on the street where you punch someone, knock them out, they strike their head on the concrete, & either die, or suffers brain damage. Even in mount if I am striking someone I do not have the control bjj offeres to regulate the damage I am inflicting. You punch until they stop fighting, and damage will be done. Not everyone deserves getting their face busted up or killed, because maybe they had a bad day or a drink too many. Yes they need to be responsible but with bjj we can be the bigger man & show mercy.

@@harvestblades I understand your thought but I disagree. A detailed answer would be to long to write here. To achieve your goal, anyway, you need submission like RNC not like Americana /kimura/armbar where you have to break an opponent arm (causing even worst damage than punching) or risking to fight again after he taps and you release. To me fight has only two outcomes: avoid it (as much as possible) or incapacitate the opponent (it does not mean killing or breaking arms everyone left and right)

If a bastard is trying to kill you on the street, there is nothing wrong with ending the fight by shredding his arm. Why is brain damage better than arm damage?

Don't give him your arm in the first place. If he gets your arm, pin your elbow to the ground, don't allow his hand underneath it. If you reach the point of no return bridge your hips and trap and roll.
