About Sheepdog Response:
Sheepdog Response was founded by Green Beret, Special Forces, Sniper, and former top 5 UFC Middleweight, Tim Kennedy. Tim was also the co-star of Hunting Hitler on the History Channel, and more recently, Hard To Kill, on the Discovery Channel.
People face threats of violence every day, ranging from large-scale terrorism to one-on-one assaults. Most people are unprepared, unequipped, and untrained to respond effectively. This weakness in the flock allows the wolves to attack with great ease and success.
The answer is not more laws. The wolves don’t follow them. We must give the good guys the tools they need to effectively respond to violence. The more Sheepdogs we can train to be truly ready to respond to a mass shooting, terrorist attack, violent mugging or home invasion, the better the chances are that the bad guys will get what they deserve and the good guys will survive. Most people sign up for martial arts or weapons training expecting to learn realistic self-defense, and few get it…
We have developed a curriculum that addresses the skills you need to successfully respond to threats

I have an enormous amount of respect for Tim Kennedy. I practice Brazilian Jujitsu. I have competed in boxing and mixed martial arts several years, though never at the level of Mr. Kennedy. I served in the U.S. Army, but was not in the Special Forces. BUT...I have been shot. I was shot last January; random shooting by a wannabe gangster I had never met (who is now locked up and awaiting trial.) I tried to disarm the guy who ended up shooting me. He pulled his gun on me and without any hesitation, I moved forward to get it away from him; it was instinctive. He was much smaller than me, and I would have had no problem, but he shot me before I could get my hands on him. These techniques in the video might work in cases where you can engage your opponent before they shoot you, but how often will that be? Guns are designed to work at much longer ranges than depicted in these self-defense scenarios. I have reevaluated how I would handle a situation where a gun is involved, and I think anyone watching this should consider the same.

Ben, everything is situational. Sometimes compliance is best, or to seek cover and return fire, or to drive in and control the weapon. At the end of the day, there's no such thing as a sure thing and anyone who says different is selling something. Sometimes it's just your day in the box, and I'm glad you survived yours. Be safe!

Loved training BJJ at a Carlson Gracie school because they were letting me do wrist locks on day 1 ... As a doorman with the scars to prove it, taking weapons off people like this is legit and training BJJ where you can explore these real positions a "low percentage sports submission" is actually a life saving control/retention system. Hammerlocks and goosenecks are something of a lost art, and yes aikido judo jujutsu yudo hapkido shui jao defendu BJJ Sambo and catch wrestling all have old forms that look just like this, a figure-4 lock is as old as bladed weapons if not older

I just had a realization after watching this. So many people discuss how Helio Gracie, Marcelo Garcia etc prefer doing chokes and don’t focus on kimora s or Americans because strong people can resist however they can’t resist a choke. However after watching this in the situations of knife, or gun defense these techniques would be vital over a choke because if you focus on a choke rather than disarming you would be getting stabbed/shot. Would I be correct in my analysis?

What I never understand with gun demos is... it’s a semi auto. If you grab the slide/barrel and your attacker simply fired a shot, the first round will cycle and turn your hand to hamburger meat. The gun would likely jam. Also, if the gun is fired close to your face, blindness, loss of hearing come into play.

Not part of this club. Here's the basic issue with bitting. Its very very hard to actually do or to do enough damage to cause someone to release you. Further in an ideal situation you have control of the person so they are not in a position to bite you. With that said, train it. Or eye pokes, or whatever you think might work. They are low percentage moves that normally don't work as effectively as you think. We use to put on swimmers goggles to drill eye pokes for example. And basically the only people getting poked where in an inferior position :)

Tim Kennedy was Green Beret, there is a massive difference between sport fighting and fighting for your life. I think when it comes to you or the other guy, I'd do what he tells me. I don't think they can use bricks, or gouge eyes, or rip off ears in MMA.

Only works for people that dont have weapons training, even a bjj black belt would get stabbed or shot by someone with weapons skill.

alvin coulter I agree they will not always work, but it’s a lot better chance of survival than just letting someone shoot you. These techniques are a lot more legit than many other self proclaimed self defence masters

And bjj guys can head butt and bite too if they chooses to. You don’t want to bite or headbutt from the bottom position against bjj or mma guys or else you’re in a world of hurt. Even worse against an ex pro mma fighter with no bullshit self defence skills like Tim Kennedy.

totoy evangelista I wouldn’t wanna go against anyone with knife or a weapon in their hands, I know I’ll get stab or shot at, but I don’t mind fighting in the cage or street, I must admit I fought amateur mma back then and did bjj comp, enough not to be a keyboard warrior like you I bet!

Or when they say it works against bigger opponents lol no it fucking doesn't not tryna flex or anything but my friend had a full guard on me and he's like 20lbs lighter than me and i just stood up and carried him, if it was a real situation i could have slammed him into the ground and let him enjoy his brazillian gay positions

@@MrJesulius the aggressor is awfully compliant through the entire video. It would be nice to work at faster speed from different starting points against an apponent with more intensity. The moves are good for specific moments of opportunity.

@@briancoonradt2735 You do realise the concept of this video? brieffing for a part of their sheepdog class. Why are you stating these things? Do you want them to show off this stuff full speed as proof of concept? Do you want to learn something yourself? What is point of your comment?

Instead of defund the police, they need to increase funding. Require police to attend BJJ classes. Bring back choke holds for police that are properly trained on how to perform one. The police videos I have seen, where they are applying choke holds, they are trying to cut off the perps breath, that is WRONG! Choke holds you see in MMA and BJJ are cutting off blow flow to the brain, not oxygen. Hence why you see no one in MMA dying from being choked out!
