bts are serious artists theyre not a boyband like the ones in the west they never half ass anything and take their art seriously very lyrical based. a song can sound upbeat fun but be critiquing society. their inspirations are many lyrical rappers and they have a song where they pay homage to all their hip hop influences you guys should check it out its called "Hip Hop Phile" a accurate lyrics video is on the channel Angie RM !! they do/have done just about every genre theyre not really kpop or a pop group either. thats a whole other story because the west doesnt know how to research kpop properly. im sure once you get into them more youll love them theyre the most humble down to earth real artists ive ever seen. they never sugar coat anything especially not success. theyve changed many lives with their music its hard to put into words sometimes. hope you continue down the rabbit hole :)

They have had 4 number 1 albums in the US (3 in less than a year) and recently became the only 5th group ever to have the number 1 and number 2 spots on the billboard hot 100 at the same time. And their music video for Dynamite their first ever song completely in english became the most viewed video in 24 hours on youtube with 101.1 million views. RM is actually the only member fluent in english and he learned it by watching the tv show Friends. It's funny how in the US people are so hesitant to listen music in other languages while the rest of the world has no problem listening to music in english, music is a universal language. It's actually kind of sad BTS are now only getting airplay on radio because their song is in english. BTS have the top 2 best selling albums in South Korea of all time. Their live performances are also incredible at last years Melon Music Awards they got to perform for 37 minutes it was like a mini concert at an award show. I hope you will watch more. I would recommend watching who is BTS the 7 members of Bangtan by sugar and spice it's a little outdated but it is helpful for an introduction to each member. Hi, some things about this boys. *Bts Is south Korean group, this days people prefer don't mix them with kpop. Kpop ist a genre and bts are know for their great repertoire of genres. Kpop is an industry in Korea, and not all singers/rappers/musicians in Korea are "kpop" 1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers 2. Bts compose and produce in all their albums, so is very personal, they talk about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc 3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) used to read a books and study set, philosophy, psychology and mythology to understand. Their last album for example was "map of the soul: 7" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Murray. 4. The army love them because they are good people who through a lot of bad things to be where they are now, and even being famous they stay humble. 5. They have a lot of genres but their base is very hiphop / rap. Also you can find subtitles in every possible language thanks to the fans, u only need to search with the name of the song or Activate cc. **Bts always present themselves as a Korean group, and always said they don't want to be labeled in a genre or industry. The fans also do not want to be mixed with kpopers, (most of us aren't kpop fans) we don't have the same ideals.

im 34 and im BTS ARMY for 2 years.. im a surgeon, i always listen to BTS when im doing surgery, cause its light up my day, always..... i love Eminem, and the BTS rapper, suga and RM spit fire better than Eminem cause they rap both in english and korea... I know u guys have gotten the facts about BTS, but please allow me to add this....ARMY does come in different ages, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds. I am a 48 y.o. woman from Nevada. And I grew up in the age of the boy groups...starting with the Jackson 5, New Edition, New Kids on the Block...and so on. My point being when I was younger we had to depend on magazines, interviews, and shows to get to know the groups...and even then there was things we still didnt know about....with the emerging of social media, the connection that ARMY has with BTS is incredible. The videos, and they have their own app called WeVerse. And before that they went on and still get on VLive...these apps allow k pop artists to talk and answer fans questions in real time...the connection is immediate. Its amazing...and yes they speak korean on these apps. However, there are a lot of artists that are American, Canadian, even Australian. So a lot of them will talk to the international fans in english. If you go to youtube and just put in BTS, I can guarantee any video u choose will show you who they are, weather it's a music video or if it's a video that shows their personalities. Your reaction was very funny. You asked a great question about how could people know they would like BTS before fans started translating all their content. That's a great question--I think it is because of all the youtube and variety shows they put out. I've been interested in korean drama and music for a looong time--even before I discovered BTS. One thing I learned is that once you get over the fact that people are speaking in another language, you realize that in certain situations you can pick up on what is happening in a situation--even if there are no translations. You get the gist of it from body language, situation, context, etc. BTS members are all pretty goofy, transparent guys. Compared to other artists they don't try to portray themselves as too "whatever"--so they basically come across as a group of loving, funny, adorable dorks in every situation. Since a lot of their extra content are variety shows--it all makes you laugh since the situations are themselves just funny. The other thing is that they sing with a lot of emotion and their videos tell their story for them. It used to be that I would hear the song/see the video first and then read the lyrics. But I picked up on a lot of the emotion in the song the first time around. Learning the actual lyrics just deepened the experience and confirmed the emotion I was already feeling. This is why BTS ARMY want BTS to be recognized for their musical talent and artistry. What they are doing is not easy and they don't put out fluffy music in general.

I think its important to note that Bts is very different from other "boybands". They don't have deep rooted jealousy or superiority like most. They genuinely appreciate each other's talents and said they're better together. They are able to express themselves solo as well through their individual work (which they all have) while still being in the group. Side note: I appreciate that you paused a few times, but please continue to do it when you want to talk. In these kinds of videos (and videos with lyrics) things pass by very fast and you might miss something. Of course we don't want you to sit there silent in between pauses, but we want you to catch everything. This is just my advice :)

Their members Suga and RM came from underground battle rap culture in Korea . However singers got added in so bts became a kpop group. In their early days they had a lot of hip hop sounds influences.
