Yeah those carrots definitely don't look fresh. They look sickly. I used to toss my school lunches in the trash, even the nasty milk. Only thing I did eat was the tuna sandwich, and the chalupa. We'd get a fresh whole apple or pear but I would throw those away too because I didn't feel like eating pesticides. Lol sometimes they're give us the canned mixed fruits, or bagged sliced apples and caramel. Then there was the nasty pizza is toss too. I guess it wasn't too bad in retrospect compared to what I'm seeing in this video. At least we got fresh veggies and fruit. We'd get fresh sliced carrots and celery with peanut butter. I'm from California so maybe it's different here?

@꿀벌녤류씌ღ oh it's definitely America... considering the fact that students have basically been told to be willing to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of the economy and go back to school in person when it's not safe, you can tell it's america. School lunch (at least at public schools) are gross, greasy, and unhealthy. my school has a salad bar and a sandwich station, but neither are very good. i also come from a fairly low income community. I know some schools in america have nutritionists, but so much money is put towards other (trivial) stuff that a lot of schools don't have the budget for the same level of lunch that Korea has (plus the addition of food allergies and dietary restrictions which vary from student to student have been issues at some schools in the past)

Ryan (coming from a nine year old) I hate veggies, and i’ve recently stared just bringing my own lunch. The lunches were terrible. (🤢🤮🗑) Sometimes they had fruit (oranges, cucumber slices, strawberries, tomatoes...) but they NEVER served vegetables. And I HATE vegetables. But i’m a fruit fan (except for tomatoes & lemons.) Personally I don’t get why liking vegetables matters, because I like fruit which is just as nutritious as vegetables.

It’s only because SKorea is so wealthy now that those dishes contain meat., when Korea was poor, everything was pretty much just veggie. meat was considered a rare treat. Lunches in Czechia (Middle Europe) aren't bad either. It's usually a soup and a main dish that is usually like potatoes/noodles/rice with some sort of sauce with meat and vegetables. Our lunches are typically a bit short on vegetables but it still looks like a solid meal not like a bunch of snacks like in America

As an Indonesian, school lunches would consist of a bucket of rice which we could get depending on our portion sizes. Then there would be trays of many side dishes we can get such as eggs, meat, tofu, tempeh, vegetables, soup, stews, and much more. Sometimes we would get fried noodles instead of rice.

I'm a French and I went to a middle school where the food was literally so great, we had so much vegetables and the food quality was very good with homemade desserts that tasted amazing !! But then I went to high school and the contrast was crazy, food here is basically terrible ! It is probably not to the point of the American lunches but it's honestly close... we just eat the same meals everyday, which consist of either tasteless ( probably microwaved ) rice or pasta with uncooked chicken or breaded fish ! As for the desserts, it's either yogurt or packaged cakes...

School lunches in the US range from $2 to over $5. Ran out of money? You either are refused lunch or have a week old sandwich (at least in my school).

I grew up in the 80s and 90s. In grade school, some lunches were good hidden gems: for example, we had Elliot's brand square pizza, fish sticks, and taco meat that tasted great; also, one time in 1st grade we gotten Burger King kids meals for lunch! I remembered because the toys we got in the meal were the 4-piece dinosaur skeleton toy sets... I manage to trade mine for a T-rex skeleton. In high schoool we also had good foods, like egg rolls and bagels, nachos, and burgers. However, there was a catch with burgers: the fresh browned double cheese burgers were the best choice, while the grey colored microwaved leftover burgers the next day were avoided like the plague. Also, we had school store connected to the cafeteria where we could by snacks and cool goodies. Fun times.

"The grass is always greener' my students always complain about their lunch. It's either too small, too spicy, not enough meat or some fishy thing they hate lol They always complain about the soups which I understand, it's hard to feel full with soup. They don't eat breakfast and lunch has to sustain them for after school academy!

FYI- American lunches aren’t getting better. They are adult calorie meals with high amounts of sodium. My kids’ school has to provide nutritional facts and I’m just blown away.

I heard once in the news that some schools (I don't remember the state) would consider pizza as a vegetable if there's more tomato sauce. I hope it's some propaganda of my country to tell us "you're lucky you don't eat like that in your school you won't be obese" but saying this to kids is wrong too. French news from 15 years ago were really harsh and putting bad stereotypes in our heads... 😞

Drizzle Rain Once my kids’ school started having to post nutritional facts with the menus, I totally did that. When they did buy lunch, I told them they had to include a fruit and veggie, which they did, but the main entrees are just atrocious.
