Pinoy here 🇵🇭. We love the malls because it’s a way to get out of the heat outside, free ac! Tons of Filipinos go to the mall to window shop, get cool air, and to eat.

The thing about texting instead of calling is that texting are done for usual conversations, and calling are mostly for work and emergencies. It is an unspoken rule and general consensus that calling is for urgent and important matters only, here in the Philippines. So if you just want to casually check on your friends, then texting is the way to do since it's not intrusive of the other person's time. Sometimes calling other people is considered rude here especially if it's not advised first via text, that is if you're calling for unimportant matters or if you just want to talk.

If I may add, the Philippines is a sanctuary for vloggers. Filipinos enjoy being in a camera. Hahaha. Many of the vloggers I subscribed to are now headquartered in The Philippines.

Singing - whether your good at it or not, is THERAPEUTIC FOR FILIPINOES. It brings camaraderie & frienship, too, among neighbors. And, don't worry if you can't sing well for now... PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT AND HONES YOUR PITCH in the long run. You just need to make the first "move*.

Yeah. Most Filipinos are at least trilingual or one who uses & can communicate in three languages, & not just in dialects of a language or dialects of the same language but in distinct languages, although most of our languages here in the Philippines are closely-related & linguistically-related, making most of us easier to acquire & study or learn the other languages for use & communication, if we just give ourselves the resources, time, effort, & energy to study & learn them or to be immersed with their use & communication. Most of us have, use, & communicate in our own native, indigenous or autochthonous, creole, ethnic or ethnolinguistic, local, provincial, and/or regional language that is acquired, learned, used, & communicated within our households, families, clans, neighborhoods, local communities, indigenous tribes or subtribes, ethnic or ethnolinguistic groups, cities, towns or municipalities, provinces, regions, or within larger & wider local or regional areas. Then, most of us acquire, learn, & study the Filipino language (the national language and one of the two official languages of the Philippines), which is a language that is mostly to almost entirely based & made up, composed of, or comprised of the native, indigenous or autochthonous, ethnic or ethnolinguistic, & regional Tagalog language, with a mix of a few to some words, phrases, terms, greetings, expressions, idioms, colloquialisms, slangs, etc. from the other languages of the Philippines and from foreign languages & other languages, especially from Spanish & English, among other languages, & most especially if you're going to the other regions, provinces, towns or municipalities, cities, & localities of the Philippines that are linguistically diverse. We usually or commonly acquire, learn, & study Filipino from or through consuming, listening, viewing, and/or reading national mass media like from or through mainstream & popular national television channels & networks, popular national radio stations' frequencies, national print media, mainstream & popular films, etc. mostly coming from Metro Manila or the NCR (Metropolitan Manila or the National Capital Region), also from the national government & the native language they use within & also for, towards, & with the Filipino public or the Filipino masses, & also from our national education & educational system & curricula through one of school subjects in language & communication arts and/or literature, and/or the language or medium of instruction or education of a few to some of our other school subjects or courses. The same thing is true for the English language, which is one of the two official languages of the Philippines, alongside the Filipino language, but it is less used in most of those settings, situations, & contexts I already mentioned above compared to the Filipino language. Some other Filipinos study & learn or already acquired & able to use & communicate in more than one of the other languages of the Philippines and/or other foreign languages from various ways of acquiring & studying or learning other languages, making them multilingual and not just trilingual. Those who are able or already acquired, use, & communicate the Tagalog language, especially those in & from Metro Manila or the NCR, and/or also especially those of native & ethnic or ethnolinguistic Tagalog descent, lineage, bloodline, ancestry, culture, or heritage, are automatically able to or easily able to study & learn & to acquire, use, & communicate the Filipino language, as the Filipino language is mostly to almost entirely based & made up, composed of, or comprised of the Tagalog language. They just need to use less or not to use words, phrases, greetings, expressions, idioms, colloquialisms, slangs, etc. that are too local, too provincial, too regional, and/or too old or archaic from their own local, provincial, or regional Tagalog dialects, and they also just need to acquire, use, study, & learn, or to include, integrate, or mix in, & also to be inclusive of a few to some words, phrases, greetings, expressions, idioms, colloquialisms, slangs, etc. from foreign languages & other languages, & from a few to some of the other native or indigenous languages of the Philippines, most especially from the other major regional, provincial, & local languages of the Philippines, & also national or nationwide, international or global, mainstream, popular, & modern and/or contemporary words, phrases, greetings, expressions, idioms, colloquialisms, slangs, etc. that are also used, communicated, & understood in most of the other areas of the Philippines & by most of the Filipino people in the Philippines & beyond. Most Filipinos study & learn at least two more languages in school through our national education & national educational system & curricula from pre-school education to at least high school or secondary school education, and these languages are Filipino & English, but those who are native, indigenous or autochthonous, ethnic or ethnolinguistic, & first-language speakers of Tagalog, especially those of the Manila or Metro Manila dialect of Tagalog, they only basically or practically study & learn at least one more language in school, & that language is English, because the Filipino language & their Tagalog language are almost the same to almost exactly the same, with just a few to some minor differences especially when comparing all of their distant varieties or variants that have minor differences, although sociolinguistically-speaking, as well as in contexts, settings, situations, usages, uses, functions, & purposes that are official, academic or educational, governmental, constitutional, legal, national, political, historical, formal, nationalist or nationalistic, patriotic, anti-localist or anti-localistic, & anti-regionalist or anti-regionalistic, they are not the same, not synonymous, & not interchangeable languages or terms & names of closely-related, historically-related, & linguistically-related languages.

regarding the malls. it's just preparing the population for when the weather turns to sh*t or is just really harsh. having all the services in these malls is like almost preparing for when the sun will be too hot so humans will have to stay indoors. humans will adapt. instead of expanding horizontally on land, city districts will be formed upwards in a 3 dimensional plane. megacities within buildings all sustainable within that structure. imagine manila in 100 years - of course if they've solved all the major issues preventing progress. they'll need to solve it due to the geography and population, it could go real bad but then again, they might be able to show how it's done.... starting from the malls :)

Before, China's Mall was the No. 1 among the biggest malls in the world in terms of leasable areas. But China's Mall is currently declining because most of its stalls closed business during the pandemic lockdown. Therefore, the Philippines's SM MALL OF ASIA went up to No. 2 now. SM Megamall and SM North EDSA are also included in the top 10. These Philippine Malls' restos are all SRO every Valentine's Day and during the Christmas Season since they have restaurants for all strata of life from fine dining to fastfoods, the favorite dining places of couples who cannot afford to dine in 5-star hotels. Malls have Carousels, trains, and shuttle rides for seniors and persons with disability and they are handicap-friendly too. All SM Malls have bowling lanes, Activity Areas for showbiz events and fashion shows, Ice Skating Rinks, Bingo Areas, Children's Playgrounds, Slot Machines and other games, Billiard Halls, etc. SM Mall of Asia has an arena where concerts are held. It has a seating capacity of 15,000 and 20,000 full-house capacity. So, malling is a one-stop shop for Filipinos.

Manila is densely populated during the day but the number goes down at night 3 In the SM Fashion mall there's a skating rink, archery area and even call centers! 4 There's a strawberry farm in Baguio 5 Not all of us can sing decently but those people think they can sing but they couldn't.

Home phones are not common here. So, everyone texts, which is both faster and more convenient. I'm American (Texan), and I retired here. I have a home phone that came with the Wifi package, but I don't use it, and nobody calls it. My entire family has one, or two, cell phones. Sometimes one for business, and one for personal use. The same is true of most all businesses, as well as for gov't use. FYI: Jeepneys are in the process of being phased out. The have developed a small, a/c bus system, which now goes to almost every location, with a red scrolling meter on front which shows their final destination. Far less pollution now, but also quite a few jeepney driver protests, as many are losing their main source of income, after may doing it for years or decades. The buses are fairly cheap, and travel on a set schedule. Not easy to watch NFL or U.S. sports, as there is normally a 12 to 13 hr time difference. I follow on line, but it isn't the same. There is NOT a big fan base for U.S. football, and most don't care about it. So, although I lost quite a few "amenities" I was used to, much of it is made up for by other activities, and more "free time", as Filipino's are far more laid back than American's. Most local can't afford a full computer home system (many can't even pay their electric bill!), so they heavily use laptops and tablets. My wife is, many times, my interpreter (Filipina), as she can speak English very well, as well as a few dialects. This is handy when we run into some who are not good at English, don't speak it all all, or feel too embarrassed to try. They are shy speaking to foreigners.

Uhmm, volcanoes are not like nuclear weapons though. Eruptions happen in stages & over a period of time. If a volcano is expected to erupt, you'll know it ahead of time. The Philippines' Department of Science & Technology (DOST) has a volcanology & seismology unit that monitors volcanic activities. They'll let us know when it's not safe to come near a volcano. Plus, if it is recommended, the National Disaster team will mobilise resources to evacuate the area around an erupting volcano. Here's the fun part though - you can watch an active volcano spewing fire from a safe distance. At least in the Philippines you can, at Mount Mayon. It's an unforgettable experience to see the awesome power of nature in an active volcano.

A correction to the video you reacted about the eight rays of the sun on the Philippine national flag: The eight rays of the sun on our Philippine national flag don't just represent any eight provinces or any of the eight provinces of the Philippines, whether historical, or modern or contemporary, but specifically referring to & representing the first eight provinces or historical provinces of the Philippines which declared a state of rebellion or which fought or rebelled against the former Spanish occupiers, colonizers, colonialists, and imperialists of the Philippines, and/or also which triggered the Philippine Revolution during those times, and/or which have a significant involvement in the Philippine Revolution during those times, and/or also referring to & representing the first eight provinces or historical provinces of the Philippines which were put or declared under the martial law during the Philippine Revolution during those times, and these former & still present-day historical & modern or contemporary provinces are located in the northern Philippines, or specifically on the northern Philippine island of Luzon, and they're just eight of or out of the historical & modern or contemporary provinces of the Philippines.

There's actually a few variants of Tagalog in the Philippines so when these 2 different Filipino languages meet we tend to become confused of the words that we're not familiar with so, it's best even for Filipinos like us to speak English instead cause it's a bit of an hassle and torture to relearning variants of Tagalog. Note even we Filipinos tend to call our own language hard to master

To clear up some confusion about who invented what, Karaoke was invented by a Japanese inventor. Del Rosario invented the sing-along system. To make it simple to understand, the sing-along system is like engineering, and karaoke is like a branch of engineering like EE, CE, ME, etc. Anyone who reads my comment, please correct me if I'm wrong.

The people have buying power that's why it's good to put up a business there. I am Filipino Canadian and was in the Philippines for 2 1/2 months in 2023. This 175 languages being used sometimes it becomes problem. Mostly we speak Tagalog. But some people don't understand it clearly. Even you are just joking they thought it you are insulting him/her. Still a language barrier

The Philippines is the texting capital of the world because UNLITEXT LOAD is more affordable than UNLICALL. But there are COMBOS of Unlitext and UnliCall with Gigabytes of data.. Since Filipinos are typically shy, they use MESSAGING instead of calling because they can express their romantic feelings more through emoticons that they cannot say out loud through calls.
