Every time Americans eat German food outside of Germany, you can assume that they ordered from a completely inauthentic restaurant and that the whole thing has nothing to do with real German food, but in your case, most of it (except for the Leberkäse) looked actually relatively good. But nobody eats Leberkäse with fried potatoes and red cabbage, it belongs in a breadroll with mustard. Real Wiener Schnitzel is veal, if its "Schnitzel Wiener Art" its pork. Nice video

In bread rolls, meatloaf is usually just fried. But it tastes even better when thinly sliced slices are fried in the pan and of course with sauce and fried onions or at least onions. There has to be mustard. In the video I also saw a Bavarian white sausage being eaten with the skin on. I don't think any German eats the tough skin. It doesn't work at all. In Bavaria the sausage is 'zuzelt' (it's not a real word, it's just a Bavarian dialect), you pull the inside out of the skin with your mouth, piece by piece and a little more elegantly, you just cut the skin lengthwise and remove it. And of course with sweet mustard. There, too, someone dipped the pretzel in the sweet mustard instead of the sausage. That's fine, but you should also use it for the sausage. When tourists arrive at a restaurant, I think the waitress should briefly explain it to them. Probably won't be done. The food sometimes explained, but not how it is normally eaten. And of course the quality of the goods/items varies and HOW it is prepared. At some point it was said on TV that it was unhealthy if you fried or fried fries (or meat), etc., because then substances were formed (nitrosamines?) that were unhealthy and then fries, potatoes, etc... were hardly crispy anymore fried or fried and even with gyros. The meat has to crunch on the outside or a pork knuckle has to crack. Fried potatoes only taste right if they have dark spots on the outside and are not soft. And even with the currywurst. Depending on the region, different sausages are used and of course sauces or ketchup are different or the curry, in India you would probably be stoned for it. Every family has their own curry recipe and mix the spices themselves and whole peppercorns are better, like pre-ground and they get plenty of them Street markets, for example, and crush it in a mortar. I mean, it can be better and worse, but even in Germany not every curry is the same and homemade ketchup of course tastes better or even better, a real sauce plus curry powder, My best currywurst was once eaten in a small town where I come from. It was a white sausage with no casing and, in addition to ketchup, you could also have some of their goulash sauce for free. It was homemade and was thickened with the meat over a wide area and then some was ladled off and onto the sausage. Also, there was a bit of pepper and I think onions, it was ages ago, and it's best to have a good roll, none from the supermarket and nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, which you can then dip into the sauce. Now I'm neither one who cooks big, nor goes to restaurants or gets around, in the country, let alone abroad, but you can see enough in videos and otherwise I've only ever seen red sausages as currywurst, whether bratwurst or bockwurst. Maultaschen, of course. Whether in soup, but better, sliced and fried (you can also with onions and sauce, delicious), oh yes, you can stir in eggs, I almost forgot, and of course the sauce at the end when it has been nicely fried . However, it is a very rich dish, with eggs even more so, even more so with sauce and I even added cheese, so you want to devour it, but it is very hard on your stomach and you should be a little careful at first. But I would definitely stir in eggs and everything tastes better with sauce anyway, even with fried potatoes. Of course, don't let them swim in sauce, add them just before eating. Back then, people still made a lot of things themselves, whether Maultaschen or Spätzle, not bought ready-made, but rather homemade dough and scraped it very finely into the boiling water, whether with a press or on a board and with a scraper, and pushed directly into the water. This also makes them look different. They are ready in no time, unlike dried ones from the supermarket and those with a higher egg content are better. So there can be big differences, it tastes natural or once you buy ready-made Maultaschen from a butcher, it tastes much better than from the supermarket. I even ate some of it cold, cut the rest and fried it in a pan.

The traditional way to make them involves scraping them off a cutting board into the water - if you look up "Spätzle Schaben" you should find plenty of youtube videos. The killer dish for these is Kässpätzle: loading them with a sharp cheese and baking them, then topping the result with fried onions - would probably make a nice mac-n-cheese as well.

Ok, that's not German food, it's just what an American who has no idea makes of it! 1. Pork Leg, the pork leg looks ok, the fried potatoes look catastrophic, and the potatoes are not fried but roasted. 2. goulash, goulash and spaetzle should be served side by side and not as goulash on top of the spaetzle, as the spaetzle gets soggy. 3. Leberkäse (Leberkaese), I have never seen Leberkäse with red cabbage, should be served in a bread roll, or roasted with roast potatoes or potato salad, for the roast potatoes see 1. 4. Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (black forest cake), not a word about the alcohol, the cherries should be soaked in black forest kirsch (a local brandy) and the bases should also be soaked in it. 5. bratwurst and steak with sauerkraut, I have never seen this combination before, it looks very badly done. 6. wiener schnitzel, wiener schnitzel must be made from veal, everything else is Wiener style (Schnitze Wiener Art). Also looks badly made. 7. marzipan cake, ok, I can't say anything about that, never seen. Some of the dishes scored well, but the originals are even better. I think as a German I wouldn't eat any of it. Maybe a few of them before I have to eat a hot dog🌭 . Maybe you shouldn't use meals that come from delivery services or from the freezer of local supermarkets to judge a nation's cuisine because it says "German, French" or whatever.

First of all, guys, I have to say that the red cabbage didn't look German but rather American. Then the sauerkraut, which is probably from a can from Germany, is the best when you eat it very warm. The Viennese style schnitzel is actually not made in the deep fryer, as is probably the case here if you look at the breading, but baked in clarified butter with the homemade breading made from flour (to flour the schnitzel before it is breaded), egg, breadcrumbs, Pepper and salt, fluffier on the schnitzel! Question: Which Mexican did that? It all looks very careless.

Leberkäse is a kind of meatloaf. It should be much better than spam .. better quality of meat, much more fresh not canned and by far not as salty. Im sure it would taste much better if it was properly pan fried or grilled. In Germany and Austria its standard to eat it in a bun ( Brötchen) with mustard. The red cabbage (Rotkohl) might "taste like perfume" because Germans like to add apples and a lot of sugar into it.

Seemed to be a very southern restaurant you got the meals from. Could almost be an Austrian restaurant. Although some of the food looked a bit wrong/weird. The Leberkäse should be roasted, so it gets a nice crunchy outer layer if you pair it with something thats not a breadroll. The cabbage also looked a bit less colored, it should have been dark deep red, etc. Goulash is originally from Hungary, but because of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy many food types swept over to our region, and germany, and got modified. Austrian/German Goulash is more a hardy, thick beef stew, whereas the original hungarian one is more of a much thinner soup style dish.

The restaurant where you got this needs to really adjust their german recipes. I would love to help them out for free, so that they can do the german cuisine justice. The Haxe looks bad, it shouldnt be flat and the crust should be extremely crispy. Also its served not with bread... sauerkraut or rotkohl. Spätzle is traditionally ( if you want the typically german variant ) with cheese and fried onions. The Leberkäse needs sweet mustard, also its meant to be fried to have a cripsy roasted crust. The cabbage looks dry, probably doesnt have any apple in it too. And a real Wiener Schnitzel is veal. You can do pork and chicken or whatever, but then its just a Schnitzel Vienna style.

French fries, fried potatoes, mashed potatoes, potato salad, red cabbage, rice, dumplings, mushrooms, onions, tomato, cucumber.... you name it, you might pair it with a schnitzel. Also there are a lot of other classic dishes you guys could try. grilled pork knunkle which is usually paired with red cabbage beersauce and potatoe dumplings. Käse Spätzle (german mac n cheese with fried onions) maultaschen (grilled or in beefstock) - german ravioli Sauerbraten ( like sundayroast with a vinegar marinade) Reibekuchen (potatoepancakes) .... and a lot more of course fast food like döner kebab or Currywurst.

_"…feels really healthy!"_ Some (if not all of it) would be rated kinda unhealthy in Germany, bc of the amount of (added) fat it contains. Schweinshaxe - kinda authentic Gulasch - authentic Leberkäse - served in a bread role with mustard. Often named Leberkäsweck = LKW Schw.Kirschkuchen - always bad outside of its place of origin. Bratwurst - kinda authentic but horribly looking. Wiener Schnitzel - original its veal. Marzipan Kuchen - Urgh. What’s German about that? Video rating. 2/10

Americans and their obsession for abbreviations. Please don't call them "Bwats". That's precisely the part of the word Bratwurst that doesn't make sense to use as abbreviation. Still better than the whole "Stein" spiel they got going on in English. Brät is what you would call sausage meat in English while brat(en) means to fry, so there is at least still some connection to what you mean, "Stein" literally just means stone (the Krug part means pitcher, so a Steinkrug is a pitcher made of stoneware). For whatever reason the Anglophone world, despite speaking a Germanic language of their own that also can form compound words, always take the descriptive first part of our words instead of the meaning containing last part when abbreviating words of German origin

By the way calling a Wienerschnitzel German is an inexcusable insult to every Austrian out there. It's THE Austrian (!!!) national dish. It's even in the name - "Wiener" = "Viennese/from Vienna". Same for Goulash (Hungarian national dish). An insult both to the Hungarians and Austrians.
