Welcome back to another Indonesia vlog and in today's travel vlog here in Bali, we are going to be trying some Indonesian food. That Indonesian food is none other than Indonesia's national dish, nasi goreng.
We start out today's Bali vlog getting some food at a local cafe before trying some groooooovy root beer and heading out to the beach and hitting the waves for the first time since our arrival in Bali! After an insane journey in the ocean and some cleanup, we finally are heading out to eat nasi goreng for the first time! The national dish of Indonesia! We also tried some Balinese curry and got mixue for the first time as well!
We then end out the video with a little update and a chip taste test! Thank you for watching this vlog where we try the indonesian nasi goreng for the first time!

That thing on top of the white rice is fried shallots. Most indonesian are using shallots in our cooking, not onion. And i think, that cracker is "emping" AKA the "melinjo" (gnetum gnemon) cracker. Its some kind of seed, i think. So i guess it may taste like popcorn. Oh, i think we try to make our chips to be "flyable". So, we can bring it into the cabin (you know what can happen when you get chips with so much air in the package to the cabin, right? :O ).

Those burnt-taste cracker actually emping cracker that has bitter taste made from "melinjo" or "Gnetum gnemon" fruit This plant grow in tropical area . Fun fact, if you into biology and learn about plant, this gnetum gnemon kinda interesting cause It's evolutionary thing lol

I think how you eat that cracker (emping melinjo) is not right (17:05). I mean, that crackers should eat with rice or soup. I mean, the taste would be different and that's why you both seem don't like its taste. It would be similar if you eat "rendang", because if you just eat rendang, then it would taste more salty and you may not like it. So you have to eat rendang with rice and not eat rendang alone as you eat "steak".

was going to tell you to use the spring roll dip since it would amp up the flavor by a lot but it seems you used a bit at the end. you probably could have dipped the crispy noodle to give it some flavor

If you are planning to go to Jakarta, I would suggest you later in Jakarta to get your self an E-Money Card (cashless payment card) in Indomaret convenient store and top it up the balance as much as you need, E-Money Card will be needed for Train/MRT/Commuter Line, Toll road gate or shopping, Restaurant etc. cause in Jakarta many use cashless payment.
